Tiger’s Zambian fight postponed

By: STAFF REPORTER

SIMASIKU ‘Tiger’ Matengu’s fight with Zambian national heavyweight champion Francis ‘Galagata’ Zulu has been moved to the end of September.

Matengu was initially set to face Zulu at Government Complex in Lusaka this past Saturday, but the fight fell through due to inadequate funding.
Nonetheless, the shift has not deterred the Namibian.
According to Zambian media, he declared during the signing of contracts in Lusaka that although he respects Zulu, he is focused on “executing” his opponent once they meet in the ring.
“I signed a new deal to fight Zulu on 30 September,” said Matengu. “I was ready for the fight but I will be in even better shape in September. It was better for Zulu to fight me now because I will be hard to beat later.”
Matengu has only ever fought twice as a professional, losing his first fight and winning his second. In contrast, Zulu has fought 21 times, with 16 victories, three losses and one draw.
