Chess tournament at UN plaza

THE new chess season kicks off with the 5th Independence Blitz Chess Tournament (IBCT) this Saturday at the UN Plaza in Katutura.

Traditionally played on the last Saturday before Independence Day, this open chess tourney has grown into one of the main attractions on the chess calendar.
Newly-titled Chess Master (CM) Charles Eichab will attempt to make it four in a row, having dominated the event in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
The tournament starts at 9h00 following registration which is at 8h00. Registration fee is N$ 30 for adults and N$ 20 for scholars. Apart from the trophies and medals, there will be cash prizes to be won as well.
