Food For Thought
*MINISTER of Education please provide primary schools with official transport as part of free primary education. How will they reach the science fair, sport and cultural venues and hospitals? Each school needs a 12-seater mini bus. It is a basic need.
Bouquets And Brickbats
*THE funny thing about Namibian women. When it is time for them to get married they always forget about God. What comes first to them is showing off and boasting. When their marriages start sinking they run to pentecostal churches, believing that God will do miracles to restore their marriages. God is everywhere. I am not saying it is the bad thing to do but I am saying let God be first when preparing to get married. Decorations and expensive clothes are least important in marriage. Marriage is a commitment where you need to consult God every minute of your life. Forget about showing off and give glory to God for all the great things he has done.
*CAN someone please urgently assess the new nylon non-absorbable suturing materials at state hospitals particularly at Swakopmund? They are not very sharp like the previous ones when suturing and we can lose patients with wounds that are severely bleeding and that need urgent stitches as a result because these new needles are simply ineffective and below average compared to the old ones, they are too hard to penetrate the skin (wounds).
*TO the Kavango people and the traditional authorities, please be united and stop this evil of disrespect and taking our Hompas to court.
*EVERYTHING in the Namibian police is slow. Whether it is upgrading of cadet constables to full constables, whether it is paying out member’s back-pay. To make matters worse, promotion goes to those related to high ranking officers. NamPol has become a private company. Minister please do something.
*THE need for commemorating Cassinga Day is becoming more and more questionable as years of our ‘hard won’ independence pass. Questionable in the sense that it is more often becoming a day for Swapo’s glorification, leaving the rest just wondering. This year’s Cassinga Day was a good example where President Hifikepunye Pohamba himself was a Swapo attired man while preaching the gospel of embracing the Cassinga massacre. Let us commemorate our fallen heroes and heroines whose blood waters our freedom in unison and not for Swapo’s glorification. For sure, Swapo will be history years from now, no matter how long, but Cassinga and other heroic days must be remembered by whatever government might come in place. Think ‘One Namibia One Nation’. ‘One People One Aim’ in unison.
*NO justice in Namibia because parliamentarians regard senior citizens as unimportant. Those people are so special to all of us so why must they deserve less from the government while it’s them who started the government? So if pensioners are not happy there is no way we can achieve our goals of reducing crime, poverty, unemployment and other problems facing the nation. God can only bless you if you respect your parents. So pay them at least N$1 500 because even now they are still looking after their grandchildren.
*WE commemorated Cassinga Day when about 1 200 Namibians in the liberation struggle were killed by South African troops. I also want to know how many of the Namibians in the liberation struggle died in what were called the Lubango dungeons? I just want to compare for my own information.
*DEAR Swapo leadership, as your loyal non-Oshiwambo supporter 23 years after independence we support the decision to nominate a non-Oshiwambo candidate for presidency. However, we still remember the pain you caused, stripping our towns of wealth and development, shifting main offices to deserted towns. Stop the selfishness and political bullying. We want development. We are no longer at war, we are enjoying peace and security thanks to the Swapo government. Now let’s hold hands to promote: ‘One Namibia One Nation’. With national elections coming up, we want to see equal distribution of wealth in Namibia.
*OKAHANDJA Municipality, all taps in the shanty towns and Saamstaan are broken, what are you waiting for? Must we die of thirst or what? The Mayor and Town Councillors are just sitting in their offices doing nothing then you want to be re-elected.
*THE driver of GRN 4171, you almost caused an accident when you overtook four cars at a blind spot on your way to Ondangwa at Okapya Village on Friday, 3 May. Again you drove recklessly two hours later at Total Service Ondangwa. You are high risk and dangerous to other road users.
*NAMPOL what is the purpose of having a promotion policy which you do not follow? You treat academics and those who did not go to school the same in your service. How do you motivate employees to learn? What pride should learning officers carry after the hard work to achieve tertiary qualifications? General Sebastian Ndeitunga, you are leading the force the wrong way. No wonder a lot of scandals happen because of illiterate officers. Reward studying officers by promoting them on that basis. The promotion policy says no officer should be promoted to the rank of inspector and above but in NamPol you find Commissioners up to Major General without Grade 12. Why should officers be promoted on the basis of nepotism, tribalism and luck? Nampol should change. We don’t study for nothing.
*KANGAROO in Namibian meat products? Wow remember the warnings of our Founding Father. They are busy with Namibia. They are also beef exporters, even my five-year old knows where kangaroos come from.
*INSPECTOR General Sebastian Ndeitunga the last promotions were unfair to police officers with qualifications. The promotion policy stipulates that only officers with tertiary qualifications may jump rank while those without must only move one stage. You treated the two groups the same during the last round of promotions, why? NamPol does not even assist studying officers to access study financing so what do studying officers get in return? Officers with Grade 12 qualifications jumped from Warrant Officer rank to Chief Inspector. What separates studying and non-studying members in NamPol? Is your organisation for illiterate officers? That is why NamPol cannot attract and retain academics. Officers in other countries are learned but this is not the case with NamPol. Please promote academics again in the second round of promotions for their studying and working efforts to be appreciated.
*HONOURABLE John Mutorwa, look into how the panel for the AgriBusDev mishandled the appointment of the Managing Director. Corruption is clear. The panel-board disguised the call for interviews as a pretext to qualifying a ministerial staff member with low credentials at the expense of competent external applicants.
*WHAT is wrong wit the public service of Namibia that it cannot provide for over two million people? With all these vast resources – no jobs for 23 years of independence, have we really got the right people in our public offices or just another bunch of incompetent officials?
*THE Police must just ban alcohol and drugs and the crime rate will be less.
*PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba, please help. Let City of Windhoek just sell the erven as priced instead of finding an average (median) price between highest and lowest offer. Help please.
*MINISTRY of Works and Transport (Government Garage), how on earth does the Control Artisan Foreman go to monitor the garage instead of the nearest Chief Clerk? The Deputy Director for the Government Garage failed to control the garage, he needs to be reshuffled or he must resign.
*I AGREE with what the President said on Workers Day, that employers should employ workers permanently after 10 years as a temporary worker. However, the GRN should do that as well. I and many other teachers are now working for more than 10 years as temporary teachers because we are ‘unqualified’, with no financial support, pension benefits and now medical aid is also being removed. We are struggling to finance our studies, and can’t make deals at banks.
*I WENT to all four major banks but was declined. I was told that the government loan is too little for housing prices and they (the banks) can’t grant an additional loan because my salary is too low.
*THANK you to the Ministry of Health for taking up the responsibility of training registered nurses and tying them up. Unam have failed the ministry with poor training of nurses, while they demand a lot of money. Thanks Tate Richard Kamwi.
Service Please
*STANDARD Bank service fees and the small loan recovery deductions are daylight robbery in its worst form. Please deduct an instalment with interest once.
Education
*MINISTER of Education David Namwandi, when will you pay the housing and transport allowance for temporary teachers in the Ohangwena Region?
*EDUCATION Minister David Namwandi, teachers are willing to attend cluster meetings. But how will they get there?
