SMSes for Thursday 02 May 2013

SMS Of The Day *THE maintenance court must make a plan with the fathers who run away from supporting their children. We, as mothers, have to struggle everyday for our children to ensure they have food while the father is living somewhere in comfort.

Food For Thought
*THANKS Minister David Namwaandi for saying that all civl servants are the same. Thus, table it at a Cabinet meeting, so that all civil servants be given 32 per cent increase and not only the ministers and their deputies.

*ANY person who is revealing the HIV status of someone else without his/her consent must be punished accordingly. Such a person must be taught a good lesson which will be an example to others.

Bouquets And Brickbats
*WELL done Damara Unity Conference of 26 to 28 April at Okahandja. Mission accomplished! Regrettably, we have wrong chiefs in positions who fear for their positions. They thought that they would be de-gazetted if they attend the activities of their own people as was rumoured before the conference. The power to decide is vested in the people. Let the resolutions taken at the conference be implemented as soon as possible. It was indeed a unity conference at best.

*NO wonder there is a big gap between teachers’ salaries and that of school principals and HODs. The top management (HOD/principals) are dominating the Nantu board. They do not care about teachers when they negotiate with government. Please stop self-enrichment.

*HOW shall we ever reach unity if each ethnic group consists of clans and each one wants to be recognised in Namibia?

*OUR government must not award tenders to Chinese construction companies to build big buildings because the condition of many buildings constructed by them are already bad. Tragedy is awaiting us in 10 to15 years time if Chinese are allowed to construct our buildings.

*A MEMBER of City Police was driving vehicle N111-941W on Hosea Kutako drive on Monday morning while speaking on his cellphone. What a wonderful example he is giving to the general public and to other law abiding road users.

*THE Ministry of Home Affairs must recruit more staff and ensure that they are competent in order to improve service delivery.

*HOW is it possible that lunch-time at Natis, Ongwediva, starts at 12h30 and goes up to 14h00? We have to wait for one and a half hour outside the building every day. No, this is not fair at all.

*I WOULD like to commend the City Police for availing themselves to identify traffic offenders at the intersection of Sam Nujoma and Bach Street. They should keep this up, especially during the school holidays. Great work ladies and gentlemen of the law!

*WHAT’S wrong with Erongo Red as a company? There are many qualified Namibians working for Erongo Red, especially as electricians. But they are being used as assistants and general workers. When it comes to recruitment Erongo Red take people from outside while these poor people have been working for the company for many years.

*PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba, please have a serious talk with councillors, especially the one of Tobias Hainyeko Constituency. There is no electricity after 23 years of independence. How can we achieve Vision 2030 with this kind of attitude?

*IUM, when are we getting our refunds? I call the IUM finance office everyday and  the lady there tells me the refund is coming soon. But nothing is happening since last year.

*NDF, what is the purpose of promoting soldiers who are playing music? Rather promote the soldiers who suffered during the war in DRC. Giving high ranks to new recruits at the expense of the experienced ones is not serving anyone. Stop frustrating us. We are tired of this kana kameme. First come, first served rule should be applied!

*WELL done Heiko Lucks of the RDP, for suggesting that a housing bank be established. I have seen your party’s policy document and have concluded that the RDP is the political party of the future.

*MUSICIANS in Namibia will never improve or make money because they are not educated and their music have no message. They should concentrate on alternative music like disco and so on. Everyone is just going for kwaito.

*CAN the Prime Minister please tell us why is it only the cleaners of the Ministry of Defence who don’t work overtime? All other government cleaners are working overtime. Please Sir, explain to us.

*CITY of Windhoek, people who connect electricity illegally don’t want to do it nor do they want to commit a crime. People need electricity desperately in order cook or to use their fridges. They don’t have electricity after 23 years of independence. Give electricity to old informal settlements like Havana and others.

*NBC, the school holiday has started last week and you are only showing the ‘Freezy Special Kids’ programme. We are bored.

*IT IS neither the doctor’s fault nor the fault of nurses that Julia died. Namibia Health Professional Council knows that nurses managers are not working during weekends, public holidays, nights and after hours because the government does not pay overtime which means there is no supervision in public health facilities. Specialists never do rounds during those days I mentioned, unless they are called. They are, in fact, rude towards the medical officers and that’s why people are afraid to call them.

*Natau, how on earth can you agree with Royal Service Cleaning Company to pay workers N$3.65 per hour? Is this how you stand up and negotiate for your people? Shame on you.

*CAN someone save IUM students at Dorado campus? There is monopoly at the campus tuck shop. We are forced to buy vetkoek (junkies) for N$3 each because we have no choice. The management does not consider that we are students but they just keep their mind on profit making. Do we look like millionaires?

*WE in Namibia are very slow to take action against our government. What happened to the GIPF missing money? Were you only making noise and went quiet now? What was the point of that useless noise in the first place? Rather be quiet and let your money be eaten. Stay quiet and dumb forever.

*NAMFISA, please reply. Employer contributions are not deductible for individual tax purposes. However, the entire benefit is being taxed, once you receive your pension payout. Why is the individual contributions deductible then?

*GENERAL Sebastian Ndeitunga, why didn’t you act against the naked senior officer who ran to the police station last year? And you still send him out to regions. We, male officers are worried to lose our wives and lovers.

Suggestion Box

*PLEASE install cameras in halls or rooms where functions or meetings take place. When something is stolen, you can check afterwards to see who the thief was. All offices should be equipped with such devices so we can hunt down the culprits.

Service Please
*FNB cellphone banking is robbing customers. It happened to me and other people that I know. Every time when you want to purchase N$5 airtime they top you up with 50. How can this be if there is no N$50 option? If I want N$50 airtime I will buy it. If this is a technical error, then fix it before it’s too late. We are really tired of this.

Labour

* MINISTER of Labour, please take note of captains belonging to foreign vessels who are fishing in Namibian waters. Some are very old and are calling Namibians working on sea monkeys. Please address this issue.

Education

*THE Minister of Education must do something for teachers who want to apply for promotion posts. We are sick and tired of favouritism of school inspectors in the Omusati Region, particularly in the Elim and Etayi circuits.

*I FULLY agree with the student of Polytechnic who complain about the programme of Public Management. I have been doing a course for three years now and just do not pass my assignments. I, seriously don’t think that I’m doing bad. Tutors must also be rotated or questioned why students fail their courses? Something is not adding up. It’s demotivating students. Yet we are paying so much money.

*MINISTER of Education, we need you to deliver and deliver and not do the opposite. Until when is the loan application for students studying abroad going to be frozen? How do you want us to take part in the development of this country if you prevent us from studying? We are counting on you. Please don’t disappoint us.
