Food For Thought
*VIOLENCE in Namibia. Let us face it and take action responsibly. 99.9% of murders are committed after drinking alcohol. Our beloved President please do something to stop the rot, I plead with you.
Bouquets and Brickbats
*IN the Bible we read about 666 and now we can clearly see the evil here because by not allowing the Bible to be taught in schools. In the 1980s we were taught Bible Studies in school.
*THE Namibian, please publish letters also supporting Oshana Governor Kashuupulwa and criticising your editorial of 3 May. Let the people direct their unfounded accusations to the Delimitation Commission, which has placed Ondangwa in the Oshana Region. He was not a member of that Commission when and after the boundaries were demarcated. Why are you not moving to Ondangwa to add value to its attractiveness? Why is The Namibian accusing others of deserting Ondangwa while it was the first to open an office in Oshakati before the demarcation of regions?
*MINISTER of Veterans’ Affairs, when are you going to fund the already approved projects? We hope you were waiting for this year’s financial budget. Kindly hear our pleas please.
*I AM a police officer but I am very disappointed by the way Inspector General Sebastian Ndeitunga is publicly vilified by some members of the force because they feel inferior. I am not Oshiwambo-speaking but he is the best thing that has happened to NamPol. He is a genuine and honest leader unlike those bunch of liars who are misleading the public. We know who you are so leave our General alone.
*WHO are the monopolistic forces behind unjustified housing prices? The usual culprits – banks, estate agents, developers and greedy house owners out there. What has the Government been doing to resolve this? Housing is a right, but denied and the masses are placed permanently in shacks. From 650k to 1.5-million within a year thats 131% increase, yet people salaries remain stagnant. Where are we heading? Goverment must build houses for the people like the colonial government did. Stop these capitalist policies and adopt socialism. Are Namibians ‘dumb’? As one leader said. Now I believe reports that say Namibia is the fifth most miserable country in the world and Windhoek is the fourth most expensive housing city in the world.
*FOR now, we are not secretive people. We are honest in our will to sustain peace and stability for those who are enjoying it in the Namibian Police Force, so that they shall continue to oppress us. But the time will come when people will observe some silence on our part. You cannot speak to a stone, expecting any movement from it.
*THE issue of Ondonga-Peter Nanyemba Region is disturbing. Those behind the idea should avoid involving traditional leaders in politics as this will cause friction between the Aawambo ethnic groups. Everybody will also start to claim their original traditional boundaries. For example, a great part of Uukwambi is presently under Ondonga and Oukwanyama Traditional Authorities. One Namibia one Nation! Down with tribal politics!
*WE want help in the Namibian Police Force, from outside the force, from relevant structures, from the people we are serving, from the international community as they are too quick to blame. That’s why we risk telling it as it is. It is not easy and it is not that we cannot help ourselves, our patience is running out. We are not enjoying our intended peace and stability as it should be.
*THE ordinary man is being told about his sins in church, so why can’t the gay people not being told about their sins as well? Right way to go Pastor Fredericks, these people must really get a life.
*THE NamPol intelligence have a new threat so they rush to the Omusati Region. This time they investigate a great ball of fire falling from the sky. A bomb? A threat to national security? More South African tourists? No, just a meteorite. Ever heard of that, silly?
*THERE is a secret plan to cut part of Ondonga to become Oukwanyama. It is why the conflict is coming in Owamboland. Hence, King Kauluma decided to take action. The first step is to extend the Ohangwena Region and later claim it to be Oukwanyama. Hence, the tension has not been created by drought as reported in newspapers.
*HAVING studied Biblical Studies myself, I can confirm that Biblical Studies can not make people less violent. What our learners need is Peace Education. How do people embrace peace by being taught that one of Jesus’ disciples was bitten by a snake but did not die? Will Biblical Studies be taught by pastors or by ordinary teachers?
*ANTI Corruption Commission please investigate the Competition Commission. In May 2012 that Commission promoted someone to a senior researcher level when she did not meet the requirements of five years experience and a postgraduate qualification. Qualified external applicants were left out.
*DRUGS are illegal substances in Namibia, no need for the police to ban them as proposed by SMS of the day.
*PERMANENT Secretary of Finance, you must also start paying penalties to tax payers if your ministry fails to asses their files after 90 days of submission. Penalties must be charged both ways.
*THE plot to chase Ovakwanyama speaking farmers from western Kavango and the reluctance by the Pohamba administration to intervene is bearing bitter fruits with new victimisation against Ovakwanyama starting in Ondonga. That is under the President’s watch.
*COMMUNAL Land Reform Act, effective watering can lead to tribalism in Namibia. Just think about the Kavango grazing issue and now the looming Ndonga one.
*TO the Namibian people. The history of Namibia is clear, people died in Cassinga and Vietnam while they were in the Swapo Party. Let’s not change the history of our country. According to our wish, leave the people to dress in Swapo colours. On that day people remember when they were in Swapo refugee camps. The history is already made by Swapo Party, we cannot change it to fool ourselves. Every party has the right to come up with its own history. My nation doesn’t hide the truth, don’t lie to the new generation, the truth is the truth.
*WHAT did they do? Kwanyamas were chased from the Kavango Region, now they must leave the Oshikoto Region. Ta ondatila. Kwanyamas are being discriminated against in the Omusati according to a local newspaper. What? One Namibia one Nation? Oh my poor Kwanyamas.
*TRAFFIC fines are only expensive to car drivers in Namibia ne? But to pilots only N$400. Check your fines please.
*MOOLA Mobile, how come a person takes part in your competition and doesn’t win? I SMSed 160 times and I didn’t win but a person that SMSed only 27 times wins. Stop the corruption and be fair, and I have all my 160 SMSes.
*OLD Mutual, it’s such a pity that the company I hold dear to my heart and worked so hard for and made so much money selling their policies for is now my worse nightmare. I have to pay back N$22 500 with 10 percent interest, for training costs which I needed to sell their products. As an ex-employee and a client, Old Mutual has stolen my love and respect for them.
*MR President we want to know what you are going to do about the illegal fencing in northern Namibia? We want justice for all and not one law for the fat cats and another for the poor.
*MVA Fund office in Otjiwarongo is not wheelchair friendly. How will they assist people injured in car accidents if their office is inaccessible?
*MANY thanks to the Civil Aviation Department, NamPol, NDF and Security Services for deterring those who want to fly and land their planes without valid permits. You prevented a ‘GuptaGate’ scandal in Namibia. Be alert!
*CAN somebody tell me, when does the tax relief start? It’s very frustrating to live in this country please – water and electricity tariffs have gone up in colonising fashion.
*WHAT’S up Oshikango Garage cc, how long should we wait for our salary increment? We are sick and tired of waiting, Mr H Kandjala and your management do something please.
*UNAM, how long are we going to wait for our 2012 loan refunds? Tired of waiting.
*WHERE are we heading with these tribalistic Traditional Authorities in Namibia? The government supported the mess of having non-Rukwangali farmers being expelled from Kavango some years back. The ugly creature is now rearing its tribalistic head in the eastern part of Ondonga against the non-Oshindonga speakers. I understand now why the Ondonga Traditional Authority has proposed to have its own tribal region.
*AS long as the people of Namibia align themselves to specific racial groups and so-called Traditional Authorities, the motto of One Namibia One Nation will never be realised.
*IF the king of Ondonga is not careful, these young senior headmen that are advising him will one day totally destroy his kingdom. It’s well-known that Aandongas are not tribalist. It’s shameful to evict your brothers from grazing areas because they are not Oshindonga speaking people, this is clear a testimony that Ondonga Authority is under the wrong advisors. King Kauluma wake up, those young advisors want to use your name in order to score their business interests.
*AS per your SMS about NamPol promotion for academics, if you know that you are educated, what are you doing in the police? Go to be a teacher or a nurse. Firstly, Nampol is a force and force members are being promoted on their hard work, discipline, good record and being either educated or uneducated. Secondly, where were you with your diploma and Grade 12 certificate when we, who are uneducated in Nampol were at the frontline battling without diplomas and Grade 12 certificates during the libration struggle? We the uneducated contributed to this country’s independence and freedom. Today you want to say you are educated. Through whose sacrifice to liberate Namibia? I’m sure you are demanding to be promoted on academic achievements only. I encourage the IG to promote everyone in NamPol according to their hard work and commitment.
Health
*HANDS up to maternity ward nurses at Grootfontein State Hospital. Not only are the majority of you young but you are also energetic and have caring hearts, despite the shortages. I don’t mind coming to deliver there next time again. God bless you midwives.
*PEOPLE don’t be excited because you heard Dr Richard Kamwi training his nurses. Training is not an issue here but the personality of the one who acts. The doctor who postponed the operation on Kleopas is not trained by Unam, neither all nurses who are involved in those cases. Unam does not build health facilities. All these are the Ministry’s responsibility. As long as the core problem is not solved the cases will repeat themselves. Let the Ministry address the real factors and then opt for their own training. Community do not be overexcited – wait and see.
*MINISTER of Health and, Permanent Secretary of Health, how come you allow your ministry to employ foreigners while us Namibians do not have jobs. Specifically at Windhoek Central Hospital (social work). If I go to Zimbabwe or Nigeria will they appoint me first over their own people? No, I have the same degree as the foreigners why can’t I be the first option so that I serve my country? Please Minister of Health, I know you have a lot on your plate but please look into this matter.
Education
*EDUCATION Minister, Prime Minister, Nantu and all Directors of Education, we the so called CCPs are sick and tired of being abused through this inhuman and slavery clustering system for more than 12 years in Namibia.
*WHY should a learner be promoted to the next grade if they have failed, even if it’s twice? What about those who are very intelligent evaluating and not being promoted? I like what is happening at Onathinge circuit. Do not give others a tough time. Study and pass.
*PAULUS Noah, are you aware that most of the newly-appointed principals in Omuthiya and Onyuulae circuit in the Oshikoto Region are from Ongwediva? Please investigate.
*I’M a teacher and a Nantu member, why is the Ministry of Education very slow when it comes to salary increments and why is it always using delaying tactics? We were promised salary hikes in April this year, what happened? April came and went and who is to blame if the teachers go on strike again? Treat us like human beings please.
*PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba please visit Mariental. No development is taking place at all. There is also a dire need for housing.
In and from the Regions
*PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba, we want to know what Councillor Barakias Namwandi’s duties are? We don’t see anything he’s doing for our town Mariental.
