Food For Thought
*I WAS watching a local programme on television the other day and the interviewee said the quality of journalism has gone down in Namibia. I won’t completely rubbish this claim, but there are so many organisations that are never in a position to provide information, leaving reporters no choice but to publish one-sided stories. PR officers must always be ready to do what they are paid for!
Bouquets And Brickbats
*THE problem when leaders come to Grootfontein to solve problems within Swapo is that they get briefed by the regional co-ordinator based in Otjiwarongo who is aligned with one group. Thus they the leaders from head office are fed lies and never allow the other group to air their grievances. I hope the delegation that is coming this time around take time to listen to both sides, otherwise the problems of Swapo will never be solved in Grootfontein. Mark my words.
*I HOPE when Swapo send the delegation from headquarters they will exclude the regional leadership of Otjozondjupa as they have been the problem. By constantly siding with one group and misinforming the national leadership with lies. And unfortunately the national leaders refuse to listen to the other group about their grievances, some with arrogance when people want to air their problems. Hopefully this time around the problems of our town will be solved for good.
*OF the ‘Top 10 Unusual uses for Coca Cola’, an important one was left out: as a contraceptive. Because of its acidity it is a very effective spermicide. It’s been used after intercourse in the Cape for decades. It would be a useful and cheap antidote to baby-dumping or expensive ‘morning after’ pills. Of course Bitter Lemon will do the same. But anybody using either should first consult their doctor.
*ACC please investigate the NDF promotion. There are irregularities when it comes to promotion. Why are some of the Junior Potential Cadres 2012 not promoted while some of them were already promoted from private to sergeant but they were trained with the same soldiers? Defence Minister please do something, this is corruption in the workplace. These cadres deserve to be promoted seriously because they suffer a lot they’re not like others who just get the rank for free.
*COMRADES, Swapo should have requirements that should be met before one is elected to be a constituency councillor, such as leadership qualities – at least a Grade 10 or he/she should be able to speak at least one indigenous language in that area.
*PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba, I want to know why we are voting for councillors? In Tsumkwe Constituency we voted for a councillor but we never saw her going out to villages and ask people who vote for her about their problems. We need networking, clinics and many other things. What are her responsibilities?
*FOR the delimitation committee, see the alternative names to replace Ondonga or Peter Nanyemba. These are Okashana Kuukongo Wanehale Region or Akazulu Region.
*ACC why are you only dealing with some cases of fraud but you are quiet on the GIPF saga? Please we are tired of corruption and we want to hear the names of those implicated in the GIPF fraud.
*I CAN’T believe it that so-called ministers like Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwa and Joel Kaapanda are not aware of Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s visit to Namibia. What a shame.
*NAMIBIANS are stupid: these words do not sound good, especially to Namibians like myself. I would have appreciated it if the Deputy Minister could have used other words.
–Nesili, Outapi.
*I SERIOUSLY do not know why some NDF members are still crying for S&T and low salaries. Please send someone under cover over the weekend or weekday to go see how they spend money on young ladies and alcohol at a certain bar in Gemeente 10, Katutura.
*I RE-APPLIED for my lost ID last December and since I am not employed, my sister calls Home Affairs everyday and is told that there is no record of my application. Somebody please help.
*I TOTALLY disagree with the Public Management students at the Polytechnic who want lecturers to spoon feed them. Guys this is tertiary education, be honest how many hours do you spend in the library or studying on your own per week? Stop complaining, passing tertiary education rests squarely on the students’ hard work and commitment, lecturers can only help you, you are not in grade one.
*DEAR Editor, I’m appealing to people who approve and inspect the buildings and construction of shopping centres in the northern part of the country to please make sure that there are public toilets. Please we are suffering when visiting these places. –Concerned citizen
*OUR leaders in the Ministry of Defence, please promote the old soldiers who have been working for 23 years before you promote the young soldiers. We haven’t enjoyed the Defence Force since from 1990 to 2013. The Ministry of Defence, Chief of Defence and Commander of Arms, our comrade, we are in the same boat don’t leave us behind our struggle came a very long way. We must not forget the independence of Namibia, we fought for this country now we need help please.
*HOW come that Tjekero Tweya calls Namibians stupid? How can someone be so ignorant and what nationality is he? These people must prepare better when they deliver speeches but maybe its too much valuable time to prepare themselves and make big fools of themselves in public. Where is Namibia heading with people like this?
– Worried Namibian
*WHY is Windhoek MVA customer service so poor? Staff talk to you so badly and don’t know what they are doing. You hear people screaming from the back offices.
*MINISTER of Land, NamPower and Windhoek Municipality stand up and provide. Provide what you have to provide to all these places which you call illegal.
*SOME places like the ones on the northern and western parts of Goreangab are called illegal places. Can you please make them legal because all residents there are Namibians and they deserve to enjoy the fruits of this country? Thank you.
*THE Maintenance Court or the Namibian Law Society must start to be fair. We men are suffering and have families also. Women must also stand up and help us to take care of the kids rather than just to sit and demand. Gender equality please that’s why they only go for working men. Sies man.
*PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba, we are all Namibian children that went through the hardships of the colonial masters. Why do you ignore us Ovaherero struggle children that were born in Botswana? We all must benefit from this Independence.
*DOES the Ministry of Defence know that benefits of soldiers that are supposed to be special differ from civil Ministries? How on earth must a person who sacrifices his own life to defend his nation be payed less and deprived of all his benefits? I don’t think its true that some of politicians and army commanders were at the warfront during the liberation struggle, you were just in the towns of Angola.
*PLEASE City of Windhoek, National Assembly and President Hifikepunye Pohamba, how come we have elected you to be in power but you do not thing about us here in Havana Number One in Windhoek and Kabila? Please we want electricity like in other informal settlements but nothing is forthcoming 23 years after independence.
*TWENTY-THREE years after Independence, Namibian citizens cannot afford to live under a roof? Swapo Party is running our government like a family business, benefitting only themselves. We are tired as young citizens.
*HEALTH Minster Richard Kamwi, do you know that a certain cleaner at Mariental State Hospital is renting out a government garage and a single room for her own gratification? Please send your investigation team.
*I’M Omukwanyama, patriotic Swapo member till death. It hurts me very much to see how our traditional capital town Ondangwa is neglected. Why didn’t they make it the capital of Oshana? I fully support the idea of the new region and the re-instatement of our traditional town that will compliment the work of our king.
*NAMPOL Inspector General Sebastian Ndeitunga, please visit all the stations and hear the complaints of the members. The force is now like a private company of some individuals, whereby they promote people they know and want. Imagine a person working for twenty years but he/she is still a constable, while promotions always goes to those that worked for only two to three years. The force is really corrupt and something must be done.
*PERMANENT Secretary of Education, we need your intervention in Hardap Region. How come teachers’ probation confirmation is only done by the inspectors of education? Some of us are now three years in the service but still on probation. Concerned teacher.
*PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba stated that he is not happy with the way casual and temporary workers are treated. Now just a reminder to the ACC, please intervene on this matter we are working eight to to 10 years for NPC/CBS and now for NSA. After 10 years we are still on contract on all of the sudden our salaries have been deducted 100%. Please intervene we understand that corruption has taken over and those at the head off want to pay back the money they have stolen from our earnings. – Heartbroken staff member of eight years.
*Minister of Finance, please investigate what is going on at the Oshakati office (receiver of revenue). Either the new system of transferring refunds directly into recipients bank accounts is not working properly, or something fishy is happening there. They said that they transferred money to my account in February 2013 but I got nothing. I gave them the bank statement as proof but to no help. They keep on arguing that they transferred the money and that there is nothing they can do anymore. Surely?
*THE inspectors at the Ministry of Works don’t care at all. That’s why government properties are falling to pieces. Before independence the inspectors of works made unannounced visits.
*NANTU, Minister of Education and Office of the Prime Minister, when will the abuse under the pretext of ‘zoning school into clustering with no funding’ come to an end? Stop the system or face law suits by using CCP since 2001, without any allowance or remuneration. The responsibilities of CCP are varied but costly. Can the minister and OPM clear the sky before it becomes toxic?
*GOVERNER Clemence Kashuupulwa, Ministry of Regional and Local Government and Housing and the Swapo Party owe Aandonga an apology due to these points: 1. You fail to honour Toivo yaToivo as the father of the nation - it is correct to honour Sam Nuuyoma a founding president no doubt about that. 2. Ondangwa is the only town in Namibia which is divided into two regions and not even the colonialist did that. We as Aandonga see this and we have been waiting for justice to prevail but it seems it won’t come because Kashuupulwa denies that Ondangwa is not a ghost town. Those complexes are private he should tell us the from Onethindi to Ondangwa. Remember “Ondonga opo ta yi kala” this is a mighy Ondonga not a clique. Our right to expression is fully enshrined in our constitution. From a proud Omundonga
*FINANCE Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, why is a broker insurance company paying a huge amount of money for professional insurance policy, what risk do we insure for or are we just filling someone’s pockets for nothing? Please investigate now. Concerned brokers houses
*THANK you Minister Che Namoloh for helping us to understand that we all have the right to make our suggestions to the Delimitation Commission. Those who attack other people because the made suggestions they don’t like should stop it. People are making suggestions, not decisions. It is the President who will decide.
*THANKS to Police officer (Goagoseb) of Keetmanshoop who educate the public on Police matters on Radio Damara-Nama. Keep up the good work. Listener.
Suggestion Box
*MINISTER of Health, can the health sector not make the working hours of the nurses shorter, to eight hours? Instead of seven to seven, I think this will help to have a fresh mind after every eight hours.
Labour
*WE are cleaners at the Polytechnic of Namibia employed by Industrial Cleaning Service. This company is paying as N$870 per month and N$47 for overtime which is not enough for us. Please we need a help from the Ministry of Labour. Shame on you Industrial Cleaning Service.
*NATAU, how can you agree with Royal Service Cleaning to pay workers N$3.65 per hour? Stand up and negotiate for your people, we are sick and tired. Please negotiate for your people more competently.
Education
*WE, the teachers from the Hardap Region who fall under a certain accountant (name provided) at the Educational Regional Office, want him to be removed immediately. Our salaries, enquiries, subsidies and back-pays are never done on time. He is always out of the office we are sick and tired of him please replace him with someone who is willing to assist us on time like the other accountants do.
*CORRUPTION is rife in the Omusati Education Directorate when it comes to filling of vacant promotion posts. A recent classic example is that of Onesi circuit inspector where the first interviewer’s results had to be nullified because the the best candidate was apparently not in the director’s favour. They made sure that the interview had to be rescheduled to recommend the director’s niece who came second in the first interview. ACC/Minister please investigate.
*MINISTER of Education, are you aware that teachers nowadays are having high blood pressure because of too much school work? We don’t have a problem to teach but the work after school is hectic especially lower primary. Imagine we need to do preparation for the next day, make teaching aids, mark learners books, do learning support, we need to do extra mural activities, even end up cleaning the classes, now you want add again religious? Please put the learners first. A teacher with too much pressure will not perform well.
*MINISTER of Education, please we cry out, at least give us feedback. Until when will the loan be held for studying abroad? Not everyone has low points as you claim? What about those children of high ranked officials who got scholarships three years back? It’s still a scar in our hearts. Please grant us loans to go study abroad we all want to become somebodies in future.
*I WONDER why NIMT lecturers conducted classes on Worker’s Day. Are they not workers like others?
