Food For Thought
*EDUCATION Minister David Namwandi, if you are that democratic that you think other religions will be left out if we introduce Bible Studies then what do you say about the Easter break that Namibia celebrates which is a Christian holiday? Should it be removed or would you add all other religions holidays to the Namibian public holidays calender?
Bouquets And Brickbats
*Yes! Namibians are stupid because they voted for people without vision, into power. Now we are paying the price.
*CONGRATULATIONS to Namibian women who are planing to abstain from sex in protest of gender based violence, but sex workers will benefit the most from that move as the number of customers will rise during that period.
*IN the wake of the South African aircrafts coming in illegally, everybody is talking of aviation safety but these are the same people who were downgraded recently. Now they seem to be important. Double Standards.
*MANAGERS must be trained in management courses to do their work themselves. Managers at ministries and other government institutions delegate their main duties of planning to so-called ‘development planners’. The practice is highly irresponsible and self-demoting while the managers hang on to their unjustifiably high salaries and benefits. Small wonder service delivery is a mess in most government institutions.
*I WOULD like to warn all students from Polytechnic and everyone that works in Windhoek West area to be on the alert for a white Tazz with black windows and the number plate N 11450 S. They are grabbing bags and other important things and speeding off. It happened to me yesterday after work.
*A white Tazz with licence plate N 11450 S was seen in Windhoek West this week snatching peoples bags drive-by style. Watch out.
*GOVERNMENT is creating poverty and not alleviating it. Can’t rental fees be regulated since they don’t want us to buy houses? It’s so sad.
*CITY of Windhoek, please do something about Goreangab dam. It is finishing our people. Make it a restricted area. How many people die in this dam every year?
*President Hifikepunye Pohamba, congratulations on your government’s decision. Teachers were hungry and went on strike. Now you are deducting from the peanuts you give us. Elections are approaching. Go ahead and deduct from teachers for striking to fund your minister’s Benzes and we will surely know where to put our votes. We were united with the strike and we surly will unite with this.
*EX-PLAN fighters who sacrificed their lives in exile are really forgotten. This government ought to compensate the late comrades, they are the people that contributed most for our freedom. Many of them were killed in action, they neutralised the enemy, their families should be considered before the so-called N$200 000 for projects. If there is a resurrection after death, what will you say to them as their leaders during the liberation struggle?
*I AM a student at the Polytechnic of Namibia. I would like to know from the Ministry of Works and Transport where can I apply for a flat in Angla Courts, opposite the library, one of my friends is renting there and he refused to give me the information. I need help please.
*CONGRATULATIONS Martin, Councillor of Oshakati West constituency and member of the National Council for having concern for disabilities. It is true that rehabilitation services need to be strengthened but not many people know that. You have seen how your colleagues behaved when you were talking about disability matters, they were too noisy, but the nation heard you clearly. Keep it up.
*THE colonisers were so successful to programme the Africans’ way of thinking. Today Africans believe that traditional leaders, tribes and their tribal politics are evil and primitive and need to go and be replaced by modernity, which is nothing but European culture.
*PAULUS Noah, thanks for the effort to find out why most of the Chinese scholarships were awarded to most of the government officials’ kids. I was one of the applicants but I didn’t succeed though I was one of the top students in the country that year. Why should our our parents be asked to make declarations or send copies of their payslips with a few cents for their kids to get government loans, while those at the top, who don’t pay tax are enjoying access to everything?
*FELLOW countrymen, let us be united because divided we fall. Let us focus on nation building as we are now facing a shortage of doctors in our country, so let us send our children to higher institutions to study. Let the Bible be in church. There can even be a Bible School during weekends and those who want can send their children there and not in school please. Let us be serious like me who only believes in Kalunga Kanangombe, the God of Africans.
*WE want to see development at Okalongo, as President Hifikepunye Pohamba promised during his campaign in 2004.
*I WONDER. Instead of fighting lack of housing, poverty and the drought that is affecting our country, a senior officer in the Gender office in Kavango changed a disability grant for one entrepreneur to a female teacher’s account without the owner’s consent.
*A CERTAIN official in the Human Resource office at Khomas Education Office, can you please change your attitude because you are too rude towards teachers. You need training in customer service. You are there because of the teachers and you have to respect them. If you don’t change, I will give your name to your supervisor.
*BOTH the NDF and NamPol Chiefs must be forced to provide answers on the accusations of the high level of tribalism and regionalism in their respective forces. They owe the nation some explanations.
*I AGREE with the SMS writer on Wednesday. I too was a victim of the President’s police escort. I almost rolled my vehicle trying to avoid a head-on collusion. Their car must have been going 150kph, straight at me in my lane. It didn’t even have a siren on and it was on a hill. I only saw them at the last moment. How long before someone is killed?
*ALI Akan I respect you personally as a coach. Maybe you are good or your team is perhaps the best, but beware the Mighty Lions will destroy your league dreams and Mighty Gunners your cup ambitions. Let us not spoil your coaching career with African Stars, please watch your words. Proud BA supporter from Rehoboth.
*ARE we living in the land of blind people? The President said corruption must be rooted out but it is crystal clear that he knows that his permanent secretaries are the most corrupt government officials and the richest government officials. Look at Tipeeg. It became a gold mine. Show me a poor PS. Some are richer than the President, Prime Minister, and ministers. Are we living in the land of blind people?
*GIPF let government employees buy houses cash via pension monies by taking a certain percentage of their pension. Buying houses cash means no interests charges and lengthy repayment periods of 20 to 25 years.
*BANK Windhoek, now that Nedbank has followed FNB with SMS notifications (not sure about Standard Bank), please get on with the programme. PS: Thank you for cellphone banking.
*NAMPOL Inspector General, with all the respect and honour, please look after the reservist constables, especially in the Hardap Region. They are far better than trained members, please appoint them into the force. They mean a lot to the community.
*THE government decided not to spend money this year to renovate the Hardap Resort as there will not be enough left in the kitty once the ministers have received their S&T allowances.
*THE electrical substation at Omumbonde Street in Ombili is open. It could be dangerous for people residing in that area.
*THE cleaning contractor at the City of Windhoek, why are you exploiting your employees so much by making them work from 06h00 to 16h30? Why can’t they at least work until 15h00? These people have families to look after, but how can they do that if they leave their homes early and knock off so late?
Police
*MTC in conjunction with the police are not being fair. Why are they not tracing stolen phones anymore? MTC management must please revise their policy on the tracing of stolen phones.
*SOME people in NamPol have been promoted and many others will benefit only because of unselfish sacrifices made by us, exposing tribalism, nepotism and favouritism in the force. All we want is that we should be treated equally. Inspector General Sebastian Ndeitunga please look into this matter.
*EVERYONE is talking about the Namas, Damaras and Hereros. What about the few white members in the force. The Inspector General is always saying he wants more whites in the force. First look at the few white people in your force, they are being discriminated against. Then maybe more will join.
*WHERE’S uniform discipline in the Namibian Police Force? Force members tarnish their own image and compromise national security. What a shame.
*ON Wednesday I observed the police on duty at Mururani Gate allowing the driver of a small sedan to continue his journey with four adults squeezed in the back seat. Those vehicles do not have four seatbelts at the back. Is it not compulsory for us to wear seatbelts? If the law is not enforced, our road death-toll will remain very high.
Education
*THE decision of the Polytechnic to force all students to register for Computer User Skills in e-learning mode is a money-making scheme. Most students are getting zero marks just because the system is designed to make students fail. Most students are getting zero marks in tests not because they don’t know the content but just because they can’t upload their finished work. Strange thing is you can’t be helped by invigilators just to upload your work for marking. This is robbery of the highest order since this course is too expensive.
*I SUPPORT religious studies at school because the majority of Namibians are Christians. Please David Namwandi amend the education police and don’t wait for a Minister from Angola or South Africa to come and change our constitution. You cannot build this nation without the Bible. God bless Namibia.
*THE Ministry of Education, I applied for a grant last year to study medicine at the Unam School of Medicine but I wasn’t accepted because I have a D in Biology. I am currently busy applying to Chinese Universities. If I’m accepted will you still be able to pay for me? You’ve given me a number already. I wrote 35 points with an A in Physics, 2 in Mathematics and a D in Biology. I am in need of financial aid.
Service Please
*THE service at M&Z is really disappointing. Imagine I took my car there because my brakepads were making noise. They charged me N$6 995,30 just to realise the noise was still there.
*NATIS management in Walvis Bay why is there no order at your office? People are sleeping there but yet they don’t get forms. Go to the north and see how it is done.
*MTC Maerua Mall has the most pathetic service. So much for being the leaders in cellphone networks. Waiting for an hour to be assisted but still nothing. One or two people helping clients, this is ridiculous.
*SOME motor dealers like M&Z are only satisfied with our money, they don’t care about customer satisfaction anymore. Poor service and lots of excuses.
In And From The Regions
*I AM a security guard at Falcon. On Thusday, I saw one of the houses burning in Outapi on the side of NamWater. I really don’t know if there were people there or not, but there was no help. Can the Outapi police please patrol the town all the time.
*The elected town councillors must work. Consult and develop the towns with community members. Some elected councillors don’t respect voters and just think of own their interests. Those who work towards development are shut out by the CEOs especially in small towns like Otavi. We get frustrated of no development and an untidy town.
*ONGWEDIVA Regional Councillor, we are in need of electricity at Onayamba, Okandongwena village. We are suffering a lot please.
*FNB Namibia, I read about your future plans in the newspaper. It’s very impressive but I want to bring to your attention to consider opening a bank or even just an ATM at Okalongo village in Onandjaba. You can have a lot of customers here like police officers, teachers and health workers.
*FNB why did you stop the mobile ATM at Khorixas. Please bring back the ATM permanently for the people of Khorixas.
