SMSes for 10 Friday 2013

SMS Of The Day *PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba and Prime Minister Hage Geingob praised Hugo Chavez on how he turned the Venezuelan economy around to serve everybody. Tjekero Tweya is praising the Asian Tigers on how they turned their economy into a formidable wealth. These are all people in the right places to do what Chavez and the Tigers did. Are African leaders really useful in dealing with their economies?

Food For Thought
*PERMANENT Secretary of Trade and Industry, please demarcate the workload of officers in SME section into applications, inquiries and collection of certificates instead of one person doing all the work. Frustrating long queues will be minimised and the public served faster.

*CAN Education Minister David Namwandi explain his concept of a ‘secular’ country?

*FLY over Namibian airspace without clearance and get a N$400 fine. Drive a vehicle at the speed of 135km/h you will get a fine of N$1 750. What a joke. Namibian lawmakers, come on! Where is the justice here?

*IT sounds to be true that Africa is a sleeping giant. Billions of dollars are channeled to non-productive institutions such as the army. The leaders are lured into traps to buy weapons upon weapons which are used to fight and destroy while Europeans are safely building their economies and sucking the unsuspecting Africa.

Suggestion Box
*WHY can’t GRN-delimitation commission propose dividing Namibia in four provinces – namely: northern, southern, eastern and western, with a dozen constituencies? If the aim is effective and efficient service delivery?

*NAMIBIA Training Authority Board, now is the time to build a credible establishment. Don’t negotiate and fire the CEO. There is plenty evidence. Even lack of vision is enough reason to act.

*MINISTER Jerry Ekandjo, we have a lot of people unemployment under the ages of 18 to 35 in our country. Please increase the number of projects in all regions like the crop projects, fish project, wood and carpentry projects.

Bouquets and Brickbats
*The DCA is silly and is chasing wealthy tourists away with their actions. Why arrest these pilots? They bring lots of money to Namibia! Namibian aircraft can fly to South Africa by only filing a flight plan – why must SA pilots get overflight clearances??

*MINISTER of Home Affairs Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana, there is a lot of corruption amongst Home Affairs employees. Make a change. Suggestion: Everyone must wear his/her name tag. Open a toll free number where we can lodge our problems. The staff does not care because no action is taken against anyone.

*SHOPS are selling white bread as brown bread. Are they mixing flour or what is happening? We will expose these shops if they continue.

*NORTH-WEST University, whats wrong with you guys? Before submitting the ID and payslip you chased us up an down and even promising that we’ll get our materials and gifts on time but after submitting you just went for good and now we are approaching the due date for assignments but nothing yet. Is this really education or do you just want our money? We want to study and take Namibia to another level. Or maybe you just want us to fail in order to register again.

*OTJIWARONGO’S new complex is 100 per cent. But what about the road and parking? It spoils our town. Please do something.

*THANK you Doreen Sioka for trying to get straight with the Chinese. As Namibians we are not alleging that the Chinese are treating us badly, they do it. We are at their mercy and we are getting impatient. Soon we will defend ourselves if the government does not act promptly. The Chinese employers are really treating their Namibian workers very badly.

*GOBABIS State Hospital, we are waiting for you to close your doors because I would rather die at home with my family, than begging for medical attention. Junior nurses don’t have work ethic, doctors are lazy and the hospital is dirty and unhygienic. Hulle loop sleep-voet rond. Richard Kamwi, do something.

*DOREEN Sioka, keep it up. These young Chinese are disrespectful. How can they pay a shop assistant in the North N$400? There must be regulations and some benefits like it is the case with other companies operating in this country.

*YET another woman killed in Rundu. The root cause of killing woman in this country can be blamed on gender equality issues. Some men still have the mindset that a woman can’t tell them anything or give advice in a relationship. The question is how do we as society deal with implementing these issues to African men.

*MINISTRY of Youth and Sport, please organise a tour to the Las Vegas, Nevada (USA) and have a look at the indoor sport hall in MGM Grand Arena where all the pay per view boxing matches and some music events take place. Building something similar to that in Windhoek will not make our government broke. We have world class professional boxing that doesn’t have a proper venue. We have music awards and many other national events that take place at unsuitable places. Do you seriously feel comfortable in Ramatex? Build something like that, you can as well have a portion of your Parliament there. Please include this in next year’s budget. Hage Geingob, I know you are a sport lover. Please consider this as a priority in your new government.

*THE female police officer that was on duty at Home Affairs on 8 May is very rude. She attacked a lady physically. The lady was simply asking for assistance and she also refused to give her name.

*LET me congratulate the Oshana Police for their attempt to make sure that law and order is maintained in Namibia. The entering of the South African airplanes in Namibia is not just a violation of Namibia airspace but also the policy of reconciliation. To me, these were former apartheid soldiers and they were celebrating the day. Looking at the time they entered Namibia, the airports used and the number of air crafts, it is really bad and shame to them.

*I WANT to know from the Minister of Education whose interest he is serving. I thought as a leader you are to consult the electorate and not to impose decisions on us. I think you are the wrong person to lead such an important ministry. You are out of context and contact. Please change your attitude.

*MOOLA Mobile, please stop making money from poor people. Where is your office in Namibia? Please tell us.

*OSWALD Shivute, what do you call an area under the rule of a king? Can you refer to the United Kingdom or Swaziland as former kingdom like you are referring to “the former kingdom of Ondonga”?

*NATIONAL Youth Service, some seniors are trying to tarnish our image. NYS is a successful, productive organisation but shame on Youth Security management. It’s totally unprofessional. Manager, please pull up your socks. You are not working with mules who, want or not, have to pull the cart but we are trained personnel. If you can’t manage leave NYS for good managers. Please commissioner do something. Don’t let one clown stop the show. It can’t be and it will not be. NYS we don’t want fat cats.
– Proud NYS product

*MINISTER of Trade and Industry, or is it the Municipality of Walvis Bay, why is Walvis Bay not having a China Town? The goods are coming via the port of Walvis Bay but we are forced to travel to Windhoek or Oshikango to buy our goods. How fair is that or is there a reason why we can’t have a China Town in Walvis Bay?

*CLEMENCE Kashuupulwa, the best way to set the record straight is by giving the nation/residents of your region facts. People are saying Ondangwa is denied development. Just give us a summary of how much funds Ondangwa received from government as compared to Oshakati and Ongwediva, then we can see for ourselves. I believe there is nothing to be hidden here, government budgets are public.

*CAN the Ministry of Home Affairs change their service? We cannot wait for the service for the whole day for them to first provide service to people who lost their IDs while those of us who came for full birth certificates are just standing in the queue with no service. They give preference to lost IDs. Is it because they are paying or what? They should separate the days for different services. We also have work to do and need to be in our offices.

*PLEASE, no one has has got any right to interfere in the running of an organisation if you are not part of that organisation. This includes a church denomination. Let us allow churches to run their affairs to doctrine, regulate and rule their own members and let each one of us concern ourselves with what is going on in his/her church because not everything is going well there.

*TEACHERS in Khomas Region are worried since SDF was abolished by the government early this year. Who is going to pay relief teachers in their absence due to compassionate, sick and study leave? Minister, please give us the answer on that. Teachers are also civil servants of this government as you rightfully said during the strike. Why should teachers have to pay from their already depleted own pocket?

*Namibia Training Authority advertised Gr 10 bridging programme. Waste of public funds? Industry needs quality artisans and not secondhand maths and science. The so-called VET reform has failed and do not cater for our needs.

*DO not kill them! Two site commanders of a certain security company living with HIV-AIDS are infecting female guards in the company with the virus with the promise that they will get permanent sites. Please stop this!

*TSUDAO Gurirab must know that he is insulting us, tribesmen and our traditional leaders by referring to our structures as “ornamental polities”. This man cannot scoff at us by saying, “they say it is their land”. Can he tell us whose land it is and if he wants to tell us the land belongs to the state, (probably, de jure) but who is the state?

*THE best way to keep our natural resources and make our African countries well developed is if we decide the prices of our natural resources and push them up a little bit.

*INSPECTOR General General Sebastian Ndeitunga, let there be suspension hearing on all the members with similar allegations against them. Why only on some? This is favouritism, nepotism tribalism and historical compulsive obligation. Treat us all equally please.

*ARE the people who are running the National Youth Service Security normal at all? They refuse to pay the guards on public holidays, Sundays plus night shift allowance as it was set up by the law. How on earth can you promote people that are still under six months probation? We don’t want corruption. We are tired of that. You implement decisions on security guards by force, thinking that people are stupid because they are security guards but never forget that this is a democratic company and country. Don’t tell us what you feel, we know our rights. A certain manager had a love affair with female guard while he is married and he mistreats other guards because of her. ACC please, we want justice.

*CAN the government do something about the prices of houses? Rich people are getting richer at the expense of the poor people. Law makers please we need help.

*WHAT is wrong with our youth leaders, be original please. Can somebody tell Veiko Nekundi that there is only one Founding Father. It was boring enough seeing you making a speech with your finger up in the air. We all know the finger belongs to the Founding Father. Refrain from doing it before you bore us all.

Education
*DAVID Namwandi, we are tired of waiting for your investigation of international universities. When are you going to finish and give us the feedback? We are loosing our patience. Some of us were supposed to go start our studies in April but we are in May now. Please finish and tell us your final decision. We are tired of waiting.

In and from the Regions
*WE plead to the Otavi Town Council to level the streets and remove the big rocks. Give us information on the sewerage system not in operation after millions of dollars of TIPEEG was spend on the project. Something serious is going on in Otavi and if we don’t stand up and talk, it will be too late.

*WE need electricity here at Ombili location in Otjiwarongo. We are tired of paying TV licences while we are not watching television. We don’t want to sell our property that work with electricity. Please Swapo government, we are your people we trust our government. Do something before September please we are tired of firewood we are in independent Namibia.

Response to Previous SMSes
*LET me answer the person who asked if Cassinga Day is a Swapo day or a national day. I think you are not a Namibian because every Namibian citizen knows that Cassinga is a Swapo day only our Swapo brothers and sisters lost their lives in the Cassinga transitional camp no one else. So like it or not, we have to commemorate the day with Swapo colours.

*TOURISTS or terrorists? Really? From under which rock did you climb? Leave the people alone, they did nothing wrong.

*I AM very disappointed by some Namibians who are supporting the so-called South African cancer group who came into our country without permission. How do you just fly in a country like that without a permit? Richard Kamwi, are you aware of this tourists landing in our land on invitation of the Namibia Cancer Association? To whom did these people communicate before they came here? If I was the President I would take this issue seriously. It was even on 4 May.

*I AGREE wholeheartedly that DStv is useless. The same crap is shown over and over again and look at the crappy series they show whilst there are so many excellent series in the US. Why are we paying such an exorbitant monthly subscription?
