Food For Thought
*MTC, what is wrong with your recharge vouchers? The vouchers are already used. We are tired of this. Please make sure that your service is proper. Some of us are traveling and you tell us to go back where we bought the recharge voucher which is not fair at all. We are not here to waste our money.
Bouquets and Brickbats
*THANK you CEO of Grootfontein. But please visit us at Blikkiesdorp Block 9 and Block 10.
*I WOULD like someone to do research on absenteeism coming to work late and leaving earlier. It is painful to be in the office and doing other people’s work and at the end of the month you all receive salaries. I observed this for so many years. I think it’s enough now. We have so many graduates in the streets wondering looking for jobs. Please, those who are using government time on their private business I think they should do their business full time and give chance to those who wants to work. Equity should apply please. It should start with managers of ministry of works and its departments. -Concerned demoralised civil servants
*THE fresh produce hub in Ongwediva does not have a single piece of vegetable for sale. What a joke! Yet another white elephant from the incapable ministry of agriculture.
*PERMANENT Secretary of the Ministry of Health Andrew Ndishishi, please sign the appointment letters of the new nurses. Patients at Katutura State Hospital are waiting for our service. We are moving to the end of March since January. What about shortage of staff members?
*MINISTRY of Safety and Security please train the members of your Force. They do not know their work and they are beating people for nothing. We are sick and tired of their behaviour. They must at least be accompanied by police officers who know the law and human rights.
*KEETMANSHOOP Municipality please improve on your road signs and marking. How is it possible that road signs are upside down? Sometimes one wonders how people get drivers licenses when road-marks are not visible, it’s shameful. Please improve the road marking so that they can be visible for the drivers.
*COMRADES in government, especially Prime Minister Hage Geingob and President Hifikepunye Pohamba. I have noticed that you are expressing yourself against corruption. Let us start with the reports of presidential commission of enquiry appointed by the former President Sam Nujoma. Those reports have never been published. I believe that the names of some top officials, still in government, are mentioned therein. Please expose them.
*ANTI-CORRUPTION Commission, please visit the Unam northern campus. The campus is full of corruption. We are all doing nursing like the students in Windhoek. Why should there be a difference in registration for the modules. Professor Osmund Mwandemele, please visit our campus. We have issues to talk about. We are afraid to talk about the issues in your absence as we will become victims. Many have become victims because of taking up issues affecting us with the staff members.
*NAMAS Awards: Please make me understand! Where does a popular song like “/Nami a /kaiba ta hà ti te” from Ronnie feature in your awards? This song was a clear cut favourite among the Namibian music lovers but it is not even close to anything in your awards. Am I perhaps missing something? Or is it a case of Ma-/gaisa being shown a cold shoulder again? Just look at the crab of artists nominated for the ma/gaisa awards?
*FNB Rundu branch has a big problem. It could be the management or is it simply corruption. How can one person serve over 30 people? I came to the bank at 12h15 to get a bank statement and I was only attended to at 15h02. The bank is in a mess.
*THE Katima Mulilo finger prints’ office at the Police Station is always closed during working hours. I wonder if the officer working in that office has a supervisor. I went there from Monday to Friday for a good conduct certificate and I could not get any help.
*WHY do people complain about low wages if they refuse to work overtime.
*THE Independence speech by President Hifikepunye Pohamba: Your words on corruption seems to be hollow. Make all the reports of commissions of enquiry public that are shelved all these years.
*FURNMART area manager does not know how to talk to his staff members. He is insulting and swearing at them. Which union does Furnmart staff belong to? The staff of OK Furniture are on strike. Please wake up.
*A SUPERVISOR at a weighbridge has assaulted a junior staff member in the presence of their regional head but was not suspended. Instead the junior staff member was transferred to another office because the supervisor is a niece of the acting CEO.
*NURSE Dreyer at the Khomas Medical Services always treat us with respect, care, jokes and laughter. We pray that KMS keep you there for a long time. Even if you are sick he cheers you up with his jokes. Thank you for being who you are. You are a clear testimony of ‘people centred care’. I hope others will learn from you. Stay blessed.
*THE fastest way to implement government projects is not tender exemptions but decentralisation of tenders. If government can allow each ministry to have its own tender board the tendering process will be faster. This will allow each ministry to utilise experts within. Where it has no capacity to execute the job it can outsource to other ministries, GRN agencies or even to private sector.
*THANK you Ngarikutuke Tjiriange for your article in the Namibian Sun of Monday. Thank you for being the voice of the voiceless. Yes, our people are seriously left at the mercy of arrogant and deceitful Chinese people. And yes, this is a call to stop the situation now. Government should not allow the bad behaviour of the Chinese anymore. By the way, they are many and now is the time government controls the situation. Do not wait until we as Namibians speak because not everybody might like our language. Government, please act now.
*HOW can ordinary people manage to pay bail of N$1 million, N$250 000 and N$100 000? I am just curious.
*NAMPOL please tell the nation. What happened to Lazarus Shaduka who murdered his wife? You were boastful when he absconded telling us that you would arrest him soon.
*PEOPLE who complain about the ban on importing of cheap cars should think again. Dumping of old cars in Namibia cannot be condoned. The question should be asked whether our roads infrastructure is capable of handling a huge number of vehicles. Currently it looks like the City Police has given up in maintaining order on the roads.
*MINISTRY of Education find a suitable way to pay the loans to students. We at Unam are forced to pay N$450 at the finance department to get our refund in time because of their mismanagement. We are waiting up to five months without the refund. The students with the loans are the ones coming from poor family backgrounds but they force the students to pay that amount. This has been going on since last year.
*WELL done Prime Minister for ‘PMs Question Time’ on NBC. We can really see that Namibia is now moving in the right direction.
*I AGREE with the news desk on the issue of criticising elected officials. We will not be told to watch and listen without asking the President because he is the President. If the nation has questions, especially the young ones, those questions should be answered. Of course, it has to be done in a diplomatic fashion.
READING about consultants in the media who are milking government coffers:The Roads Authority is one organisation that entirely relies on consultants who are running the RA and dictating terms to them. When will this situation end?
*WILL George W Bush and Tony Blair be taken to International Criminal Court over the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan?
*MINISTER Ekandjo, how can one survive if he/she is working without water? Omuthiya Youth Centre has been without water for three weeks. Workers are using nearby bushes when nature calls.
Service Please
*BASILIUS Haingura, you are repeating the same mistake of not informing your members in good time. You need to inform your members on regrading. The main reason why teachers went on strike was lack information from your office. Be a servant of the people and do away with the bossy attitude.
*I AM pleased with FNB Grootfontein branch foreign exchange clerk’s service. Very prompt and excellent service. Keep it up.
*CAN somebody in the health inspectorate rescue us at Ariamsvlei? Businesses are selling products that are expired. But the prices are very high. Please come an help us.
*SINCE the Microsoft launched their latest office package they make their old package (I paid for in 2007) to be sluggish to ensure that it becomes impossible to use. How unethical? Maybe the time has come to boycott American products and service providers so that the American regulators can wake up and do their job.
*WE are being forced to pay our TV licenses but the NBC did not show the match between Namibia and Malawi which we were waiting to watch live on Saturday. We were very disappointed.
Sport
*BRING in a foreign coach for the Brave Warriors. A coach from Brazil. I am sure the change will come believe me. Bernard Kaanjuka said “we will show them” but it was the other way around.
*I THINK it is time for John Muinjo and Barry Rukoro to resign with immediate effect. Experienced players are supposed to be used for important games. Rome was not built in one day. I am heartbroken and even shy to mention the name ‘Brave Warriors’ in public.
Suggestion Box
*NEW Aunty Moana is really ugly. Please make a plan. She looks like someone I won’t ask advice from. If you know what I mean.
We all have different tastes!

Health
*MINISTRY of Health please take care of your people. Foreign doctors are killing us. When I visited the Katutura State Hospital last Wednesday the doctor (from his residence) ordered the nurse to take me for an X-Ray and also ordered the ambulance driver to take the X-Ray results to his home, so he could examine it there, while I was at the hospital.
Education
*MINISTRY of Education, please do something. Since you changed your new system of NTA everything is upside down. I completed and passed all my levels at Rundu VTC from 2010-2012 but I did not get a certificate until now. I need my certificates. David Namwandi must go to RVTC and make some changes. It seems we paid money for nothing.
*THE Minister of Education should seriously come and check what the personnel officers in Kavango Region are doing. Some of us have applied for medical aid and the ministry has started deducting money but we have not received medical aid cards. Every time we enquire we are told to come next week or they will call us. Is it fair paying for something you are not using?
*THE Ministry of Education, please investigate Nimt at Arandis. They are admitting a very large number of students but after the registration, which is done with money, they tell us that they only need 16 students per course. The registration is done with N$2 000 and the money is not refundable.
Responses to Previous SMSes
*HOW can a member of Swapo complain about the wearing of Swapo colours on national events? Who is fooling who?
*THIS is in response to the person who asked the president to do something to encourage white and coloured people to attend Independence Day celebrations. You can only celebrate freedom if you were once enslaved. Were white people enslaved? Its not the president’s responsibilIty to do that. The onus rests upon every proud Namibian to celebrate the peace that we are enjoying now. Please rationalise before making such comments.
