SMSes for Wednesday 06 February 2013

SMS Of The Day *AGAIN, another girl raped and killed. How many women must die at the hands of crazy men before the government realise the seriousness of gender based violence. Please, replace Sebastian Ndeitunga with a person who understand the situation. Front pages are everyday filled with stories on rape and murder. We, as a nation should take a bold step and curb this violence.

Food for Thought
*I AM in full support of Bank of Namibia Governor, Iipumbu Shiimi for slashing deposit fees. I want it be removed totally. Imagine, I am a client of First National Bank and whenever an amount of N$300 is deposited in my bank account they charge me more than N$200. I consulted with my bank manager who could not understand, either. He promised to consult with his superiors. I am prepared to give my bank account details for investigation. It is high time that Namibians enjoy their hard-earned income. A bank statement is charged seven dollars. What does it mean? Is it exploitation?

Bouquets and Brickbats
*PAULUS Ambunda won, but our commentators were not professional. We know boxing, but it seems as if MTC or NBC took some people from the street to do the job.

*PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba, the Namibian nation’s life is at stake, as our hospitals have become slaughter houses of innocent women and children. Someone should be kept answerable for the heinous crimes committed everyday. The element of negligence is clearly visible, and yet we carry on as if all is well with the nation. Investigate Richard Kamwi and save the lives of our people.

*WENDELINUS Hamutenya, you are being criminally charged for something you have not done, as you claim. Why don’t you take the newspaper to court that carried the list in question, if you are innocent? The editor of the paper said you gave them the list, and you signed it, why not challenge them? Come on!

*WHAT’S so special about using half naked ladies in the boxing ring? It’s time that we make use of well dressed man in the boxing ring.

*IT is distressing always to hear that our fish and meat exports have increased by big margins, when our people can barely afford these commodities. Minister Bernard Esau, Meatco and Team Namibia, buy Namibia should be about availability and accessibility to and affordability by the the citizens. Wake up and smell the coffee!

*PRESIDENT Pohamba never demanded the skulls of Namas and Hereros from the Germans at that time. But now, he demands one skull from the English and also mention others. Why only now?

*A three metre long and one metre deep ditch remains uncovered in front of houses in Graniet Street in Soweto suburb after a broken water pipe was repaired by municipal workers two months ago. Indeed, it poses a danger to children.

*DEAR Namibians, to develop our country we need to drink less and work hard! We cannot achieve our goals, if we are only sober for eight hours every day and for 16 hours we do not know what’s going on around us, because we are under the influence of alcohol. It can’t work.

*PLEASE President Hifikepunye Pohamba, deploy the army in surroundings areas of Windhoek to patrol all river beds. Our children are not safe anymore. People are being killed everyday. Taxis should not operate till late because criminals are making use of taxis to carry out their activities. Our soldiers are not  doing anything. The people are living in fear because of criminals that are roaming the streets unhindered.

*TENDER Board of Karas Regional Council. What happened to the tender for rendering security services to the Ministry of Education in Karasburg Constituency. The tender closed on November 30 last year. Nothing has been published so far, and we don’t know whether it’s awarded or not. The previous tender holder is still doing the job. The tender is being awarded to that company since 2010 and we suspect favouritism.

*PLEASE, tell us who has won the car? An SMS Competition was run in support of the recently held boxing bonanza. Why must we always ask?

Suggestion Box
*I don’t want to politicise the issue of Air Namibia but let me offer a cheaper turn around strategy; make Air Namibia local and let South African Airways and other air liners serve international routes. We have many other products that can put Namibia on the international map. Our beef, fish, our boxers and our tourist attraction sites. Statistically, how many Namibians and international travelers use Air Namibia on international routes, for example?

*I think it is time for the Namibian government to give Nestor Tobias a diplomatic passport for work well done in boxing.

*PEOPLE who are close to senior headman Herman Iipumbu must coach him on protocol. I observed him at Ongediva walking ahead of President Hifikepunye Pohamba. He displayed a kind of self imposed importance. Even the hosting minister and other important guests were in the background. The event was in his tribal area.

*THE police officers in this country believe that they have a right to beat, shoot and kill people. Even when citizens have done nothing wrong. If these people are behaving this way, who are we going to trust and report crimes to, when they are also offenders?

*CAN the CEO of Old Mutual please tell us how they train their consultants. I am disappointed with the assistance I received from their head office in Windhoek, Please, train your consultants to match with the consultants in Ondangwa. They render excellent service,

*PLEASE help us. We are living close to Goreangab dam and we need decent municipal bus service near Woermann Brock. We are always late for work. The bus only arrive at half past eight every morning. We don’t want to lose our jobs.

Health
*Please Minister Richard Kamwi, do something about the new born babies and mothers dying at the Windhoek Central Hospital. Please save our nation.

Labour

*MINISTER of Labour, look into the disciplinary procedures taken against the employees by the private company’s who used to pay some of the labour consulting companies to handle their disciplinary hearings, while our rights to representation is limited. Meaning, we can only be represented by a fellow employee or a colleague. This is unfair. We want that the issue of paid consultants be addressed, urgently.

*THE Namibian government is just increasing unemployment in this country. Employing us on contract basis for years? Imagine, I’ve been working for The Ministry of Justice for six years on contract. This is ridiculous. If I’m getting all benefits like eg bonus, medical aid, housing allowance. Why can’t they just employ me permanently? Due to this I don’t even have a single policy. Please Minister Uutoni Nujoma, look into this matter urgently.

*IT seems only teaching and health professions makes maximum benefit from job evaluation and regrading. Aviation sector is downgraded along with many others.

*COULD the regional tender awards also be advertised just like it is done here in Windhoek. The regional tender board only advertise the tender requests but not the companies that would have been awarded the tenders. I believe that it would then be more transparent and reduce the chances of corruption. I hope my concerns do not fall on death ears and the matter will be looked into.

Education
*CAPRIVI Regional Education Director. Please address the water and electricity problems of Mayuni Secondary School. Teachers and learners will never perform, as long as these problems are not attended to. No water at school. Teachers and learners go to classes without taking a bath and the Regional Office is looking at this problem with tinted glasses and deaf ears. They blame teachers, while they are failing to deliver. Who can work without water?

*PLEASE help. Khomas High in Windhoek still does not have accounting and mathematics teachers for Grade 8. We are already half way through the first trimester.

*I AM a graduate from the VVTC and five years have passed after I graduated. I have not  received my diploma, so far. They come up with a different story, every time I try to find out. Can the Ministry of Education look into this matter,  as soon as possible.

In and From the Regions
*I AM concerned about the the so-called boundary in Ohangwena Region, which divide Namibia and Angola. That gravel road was created by the colonial regime by virtue of tribalism. People are suffering when it comes to moral and material support, which they are entitled to. I humbly request the government to revisit the boundary issue.

Lost and Found
*I found a bag with a learner’s license, last Friday that belongs to RC Rittmann. If you are the owner, please contact me at: 0814218775.

*I, GABRIEL Meroro lost my wallet with my ID, in Windhoek. If found, contact me at: 0818192068.
