SMSes for Tuesday 26 March 2013

SMS Of The Day *WE should talk less and act decisively in building a tactical and technically polished national team. With the current depth of players we have it is embarrassing to field such a disjointed team and expect a win. Lack of co-ordination, absence of dead-ball specialists, reliance on just one striker Henrico Botes and hunger to win were some causes for our downfall against the not-so-fancy Malawian team. Please shape up or ship out if you cannot build a winning team!

Bouquets And Brickbats
*THE capital city is not safe anymore. The city is full of foreigners without working permits. They come through Angola into Namibia. Let us not be fooled by the good relationship we have with Angola. A border fence should be erected and the border should be guarded like other borders. Our Defence Force members must be deployed to patrol our borders. What is our Defence Force doing January to December?

*MINISTRY of agriculture when are you going to recruit people to work at the new business hubs (Ongwediva and Rundu)? We, the unemployed agriculture graduates are craving for jobs. Thank you.

*I REGARD the following ministries as the worst of all – health, home affairs and works. When is President going to clean the incompetency or get rid of the cockroaches at Katutura State Hospital?

*MINISTER of Safety and Security, the recent introduction of higher traffic fines is promoting corruption among traffic officers. Some of them demand half of the fine and if you refuse to do that you get fined with a very short period to pay. Therefore, introduce a similar system they use in South Africa, whereby drivers and traffic officers are not allowed to interact on the spot. And the fine tickets are sent to the drivers through their postal addresses. ACC please dedicate your officials to trap these traffic officers. They are destroying our country with their corrupt mentality. They abuse government resources for their personal benefit.

*LET all those civil servants who wavered during the dark days of the liberation struggle join the new workers union formed by the opportunists who are just power hungry like all the others who achieved nothing out of forming new parties like RDP, CoD and APP. Nantu and Napwu never wronged any member so far.

*ONLY those owning farms with secured fences will benefit but the farmers in rural areas will not benefit. Does the Prime Minister know that annual vaccination on this side of the redline is done free of charge by government for rural farmers but across the redline rural farmers have to vaccinate their animals from their own pockets.

*THE regrading of salaries by the Office of the Prime Minister is a true indication that government is committed to uplifting people’s standard of living. Those who are appealing should wait for the governments response while the rest benefit from 1 April. We do not want delays in the implementation of the process because of ignorance.

*THE regrading of salaries by government is a shame. The poor cleaners’ salaries were brought down. People with diplomas are paid at the same level with those without qualifications. The regrading increases the gap between the rich and poor. Prime Minister please look into this matter before implementation.

*THE difference between the ranks of colonel, deputy commissioner and assistant commissioner compared to their immediate subordinates of lieutenant colonel, chief inspector and chief superintendent respectively, is so big. The difference of N$10 000 per month is too much. It really needs to be regraded.

*DAVID Namwandi is becoming a staunch critique of the very same institution he is heading. Is this a sign of not being happy with his own performance? What a shame. He must do himself a favour and resign.

*THE red line can be abolished but let us first look at the consequences before it is done. There is a border fence between Botswana and Namibia but there is no border fence between Angola and Namibia. There is no border fence from Ruacana to Rundu. The red line is actually our border with Angola even if it is not effective but it is regularly patrolled by the ministry of agriculture. If it is removed we will be facing animal diseases such as food-and-mouth and human trafficking and other crimes will escalate.

*NAMIBIA is celebrating 23 years of poverty and starvation.

*I CANNOT understand why our leaders favour certain parts of the country seemingly at the expense of others. Minister John Mutorwa and Prime Minister Hage Geigob, are calling for the immediate removal of the red line at all cost but they are so quiet with the drought that is affecting the rest of the country. Why are they quiet about crop production that seems to benefit only the north and north-eastern parts of the country? The playing field should be levelled.

*IT seems the municipal bus drivers do not use seat belts. Where are the seat belts or are the bus drivers exempted to use them or is it a matter of applying the law selectively.

*THE long serving teachers will not benefit from the regrading of salaries like the new teachers, HODs and school principals. NANTU please do something. This regrading can create animosity within the teaching profession.

*TO all government employee representative agencies, associations and Secretary to Cabinet, help the government employees who retired due to ill-health to get the available benefits, such as housing subsidies and transport allowance and also get 75% of the 13th cheques.

*THE former Prime Minister said the difference in salary gaps was no longer a race issue but a class issue. In the public service, we have a huge gap between NamPol, Defence Force and other ministries. Does the Public Service Commission regard this huge gap between salaries as recommendable?

*CAPRIVI/Kavango boundary: We need answers before it is official. Is it lawful for Kavango Regional Council to conduct meetings in areas and communities within Caprivi Regional Council’s jurisdiction? Promises are made for people to denounce Caprivi Region or change to Kavango Region. This has been going on for same time now.

*MATAKO Councillor, pull up your socks. You are not doing anything to bring development to Ovitoto village. We, including yourself, find it difficult to reach our villages during the rainy season. We do not have NamPost Bank or any other bank in the Omatako constituency. Come on, change your approach and prove to us before the next elections.

*IS there an institution recognised by the Namibia Qualifications Authority that can teach short courses for interior design or decoration?

*STANDARD Bank, how on earth does the process of selling a house take almost six months? Standard Bank really needs a new direction. Recruit people with new ideas please.

*NBC failed the nation again by not showing the Brave Warriors match. Why do you concentrate on the games of imperialists and neglect the Namibians. NBC management must change or ship out. You are an embarrassment to the Land of the Brave.

*FNB has not treated me well. I applied for an overdraft in January 2013 and indicated that I want the repayment to be deducted from my account on the day (25th) my salary is deposited. According to records, the overdraft was paid in mid March for another facility to be told that the old one is still active. To be honest, I don’t know how I have been benefiting from it. When my March salary was deposited the January overdraft was deducted again! How on earth do you decide to extent an overdraft without the account holder’s consent?
– Disappointed and frustrated FNB client

*IT is ridiculous to hear that the City Police stations like the one in Aschenborn Street Pioneerspark is to be closed. We as citizens of Windhoek need an explanation for this. There goes our safety.

*PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba and Prime Minister Hage Geingob, you must surely be aware of the serious mess the environment ministry finds itself in. Appointments are done without positions being advertised. Stop this trend at this ministry.

*THE abridged account of the invaluable sacrifices and immense contributions made by the Namibian youth during the liberation struggle by Martin Shali is impressive and commendable. Today’s youth should emulate the selfless sacrifices made by those before them and spearhead the economic struggle for the betterment of all Namibians! I salute you!

*THE current Director General of the NBC needs to pull up his socks. Since he came on board the NBC is just getting worse. Look at the sport programmes during weekends. Old matches are repeated and it’s so disgusting. We want to watch new events.

*WELL done teachers and nurses. Now is the time for civil servants to shake off the rotten, selfish, and corrupt Napwu. We must show them that it is workers who pay their salaries. Without us Napwu will not exist.

*IT seems SME Bank is not there to assist small and medium enterprises but to feed those who have families and friends dealing with tenders. How can you expect a small entrepreneur just starting his/her business, eg, of cleaning or catering to repay your loan within 12 months? Even if it is a business which can bring in money everyday it is not possible to start making profit within the first six months. You know very well that tenders are not awarded to the ordinary honest, hard working entrepreneurs but to those who have connections. Give us a chance! At least 12 months to develop our businesses to be able to repay the loans if you really want to assist the SMEs.
