SMSes for Tuesday 19 March 2013

SMS Of The Day *WILL the Neckartal Dam really solve the water problems in Namibia? We need water in Windhoek and not in the south. Naute Dam is already there which is under utilised. Why do they want two reservoirs in the Karas Region? Do they want to score political points?

Food For Thought
*NATIONAL councillors are just there for foreign trips because of S&T. Why don’t they go to their respective regions and inform the electorate about their development programmes and about the laws passed by Parliament. The councillors are just wasting the taxpayers’ money.

*POLICE officers without drivers licenses are driving police vans in Uis.

Bouquets And Brickbats
*THANK you Zimmerman garage for the good customer service. Keep it up.

*THE presenter of a ‘New Season’ programme on NBC, Tabs Xulu, you have turned the programme into a platform for critisising prophet TB Joshua. I see you kneeling in front of the great prophet asking for an apology. I advise you and your guests or panelists to preach the gospel instead of misleading the nation. Remember God knows no borders. Whether you are a Namibian, South African, Zambian we are all equal in front of the Almighty.

*ON Sunday March 17 I was in Shoprite Katutura I wanted to buy their tinned fish, Horse Marckarel, but it was rotten and smelled very bad. Eish Shoprite, please get rid of your rotten food and put the wellbeing of your customers first.

*OKANKOLO Councillor, you are not doing anything to improve the place. There is still no tarred roads and no electricity in the nearby villages. Come on!

*OSHIWAMBO Radio Service, we want equal rights in our country. Not discrimination, okay! National Radio is broadcasting its talk show ‘Open Line’ until now. What about Oshiwambo Service? Are you not able to do that? Please, we want our talk show to be back us soon as possible. We also want our views aired, especially those who are not able to speak the English language. Are they not part of Namibia? What are you afraid of? We want our talk show back.

*WE are talking about providing all Namibian citizens with equal opportunities. But how does it work in reality? The people who have already been given chances and come from wealthy families and advantaged backgrounds were resettled at Farm Daweb, while there are hundreds of people living at Maltahohe who never tasted the fruits of independence. This is totally unacceptable and should not be condoned.

*THANK you very much Windhoek City Police for working very hard in rooting out crime in the City. Thank you Abraham Kanime. I hope you will soon turn to the reckless taxi drivers.

*THANK you to our fellow African brothers and sisters for taking an inclusive, bold and fruitful decision aimed at democratising the political lines in Zimbabwe. It means things were not rosy in Zimbabwe mainly because Robert Mugabe overstayed in the position of power. Just imagine from 1980 up to now. Western countries might also have made things worst. Let us be careful and rather not apportion blame.

*GENERAL Sebastian Ndeitunga stop travelling so much and attend to the problems of the police porce. You hardly are in the office for a month. Police officers are paid peanuts while they are doing a good job. The regrading is under way but what is your contribution.

*CAN somebody from the health inspectorate rescue us in Uis. Everyday the prices of goods go up whether the products are expired or not. Most of us are pensioners and cannot afford to go to Omaruru. Please help us.

*IT is time for our politicians to think out of the box. The ever increasing fuel prices should let them consider Angolan crude oil, petrol and diesel because it’s cheaper. Why stick to something which is expensive?

*IS NamPol treating every constituency equally? Ongenga Constituency has a large Police establishment at Omungwelume for years also serving Etayi Constituency. Now Ongenga village gets a police station five km from Omungwelume?

*THE Oshana Governor is inviting Namibians to join national independence celebrations in his region. Those outside Oshana will not be able to accept his invitation because March 22 is a normal working day.

*ON a serious note: Let’s tax those who have not been taxed so far, only five percent and increase old age pensions next year to N$1 500. We can do it. Poverty is swallowing the old age pensions.

*PLEASE Windhoek City Traffic Police, do something about rude, noisy, reckless bikers and quad-bikers at Avis Dam during weekends. They ride up and down on Saturday afternoon March 16 until after sunset. Several quad-bikers are under-age!

*ACCORDING to South Africa’s Mail and Guardian newspaper, Minister Lindiwe Sisulu wants teachers to wear a tie and jacket. What do you think? I support her. No miniskirts for female teachers as well.

*THIS is more than enjoyment. I thank Silas Ndapuka who brought us independence celebrations in Havana. Today on the March 16 he launched the celebrations at the bus terminal in Havana. This is marvellous for Havana residents. We ate, drank and were merry. This is what is meant with social responsibility. Ndilimani dance band has been with us from 11h00 to 07h00. Thanks Ndapuka for what you have done for Havana residents.

*I AM a consumer who is worried about the lies sold by retail shops. Last year Okahandja Spar had a car competition. When I tried to find out who won they gave an excuse that the competition was postponed. I guess they will this year come with the same car to sell more stock. Last month Pick & Pay of Okahandja had a Marathon Sugar competition. Up to now I am still wondering who won. I am just asking.

*MINISTRY of Home Affairs I understand that when illegal immigrants are arrested they are locked up for six months. You are wasting taxpayers’ money to buy food for them instead of deporting them to their countries of origin. What is the logic behind that?

*DOES the government realise that many of the combatants who physically fought in the battles and confronted the colonial forces are overlooked? They are dying as paupers do have a place at Heroes Acre.

*USAKOS needs a saviour. The infighting among councillors over positions must be stopped. It is clear that the CEO is doing his utmost best to ensure conducive environment for investors and inhabitants, but he is becoming the victim of the unprofessional conduct of power hungry councillors. Remove incompetent councillors. Political parties must act before Usakos goes down the drain. How can a town be managed without a full management committee? Leave the town clerk alone. He is doing a good job.

*WHAT is the reason that doctors can no longer prescribe ARVs and other medicine to patients? Government must find out why the Medicines Regulatory Council is refusing some doctors the right to dispense medicine after they have been doing so for decades. The man on the street suffers and the government does not care.

*‘STRUGGLE children’ are not special. Some of them came to Namibia while they were few months or one-year-old. They had the same chances like other children born in Namibia. Government should put an age limit to determine who should qualify to be a struggle child.

*PEOPLE must stop asking the government to buy them animal food. We sometimes make unreasonable demands. We want the government to increase salaries and old age pension money. Employment opportunities must be created too. For those of us who own animals must sell them if we cannot keep them any longer. Those are private properties and cannot ask the government to feed them. We can not have people dying of hunger while the money is used to buy animal food. When are we going to appreciate what the government is doing for us? It’s always government must do this and that. Very soon we will ask the government to clean our houses and cook for us.
– Ndatyapandu.

Service Please
*Braaivleis vendor at Pioneerspark cemetery sold rotten meat on Friday. No food inspectors?

*JET Stores in Post Street Mall, where Edgars Stores used to be, is so dirty and smells bad. The dirt starts right at the door with dry leaves from nearby trees spread all over. Jet Stores used to be clean.

*HELENA Shiimbi when will Oshiwambo ‘Open Line’ come back? Why was it taken off air in the first place? We need to know the reason. Why?

Suggestion Box
*WHY can Air Namibia not reduce the price of tickets for its local flights after huge bail-outs taken from the tax payers? They only want to benefit but fail to deliver.

*I HUMBLY request the government to plead to all agencies and companies in our country to employ some of the struggle children rather than ignoring their plight. I am sure that it will alleviate the plight of the children and avoid a possible catastrophe in our country.
