SMSes for Tuesday 12 March 2013

SMS Of The Day *NHE is failing to build new houses in Otjiwarongo, while they know that many people are in need of shelter. They are failing the government’s programme to develop the middle income group. Are the people in Otjiwarongo not part of the development programme? Nothing is being done since the year 2000. It’s too long. We need answers.

Food For Thought
*WHAT’S happening in our country? Public servants’ salaries are being cut, just like that. Fuel prices are increasing and the cost of living as well. How does government expect us to pay for food, water and electricity? The government is demotivating public servants with this new regrading structure. How can a British company come and propose a pay structure in an African country? This is outrageous.

*OPPORTUNITIES to travel abroad come without warning. If Home Affairs promises to approve a passport application in three days, I dont see any problem with the minister’s request for the public not to apply for a passport if we don’t have plans to travel. If not, I want to have passports ready for each of my children. Maybe, just maybe one or all of us might want to travel in the next two years. Who knows... think again!

Bouquets And Brickbats
*PETROL increase! Food increase! Erven and houses are unaffordable! Importing Botswana cars is something of the past! Goverment employers salaries are reduced! When the west gives destructive advice to the Namibian Goverment then they are global friends, when they speak of transparency, accountability, corrupption etc, then they are imperialists. Double standard?

*THANK you Xavier Strauss at MTC Katutura for great service even if you are assisting so many clients alone. Hope they give you an extra person to assist.
– R Van Wyk

*GOVERNMENT is using the re-grading system to get money to pay the 15 percent increase for political office bearers. Legal officers should look for employment elsewhere since it is obvious their employer does not care for them! The construction of the Omungwelume road is now underway, therefore we want experts and the media to go there and see if the job being done is of good quality. I am saying this because I have seen the Kavango/Okongo road or Okahandja/Karibib road were constructed professionally and of good quality.

*UHURU Kenyatta is the president of Kenya, son of the Founding President. Beware Namibians. Utoni Nujoma may take over as president in 10 years.

*WE will appreciate if the Ministry of Justice would visit the Magistrates Court at Rundu. The Court always begins late and the proceedings are very slow.

*WHY do some schools still demand that school books for Grade 1s be bought by parents. Why should the parents be bothered if the government is responsible for the books. We, the parents, are not happy with the Otjiwarongo Spes Bona Primary School.

*THANK YOU Minister Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana for realising that Home Affairs is not functioning well. It is about time for a change at the Ministry of Home Affairs. Hopefully it will happen very soon.

*NBC, please do away with playing foreign music, for example, South African songs when advertising events such as ‘Off the Hook’, ‘Tutaleni’, ‘Tupopyeni’, boxing, athletics etc. It’s time that we embrace local music. Where is our pride? I wonder whether South Africans play our music.

*SOCIAL Security Commission, please pay attention to workman’s compensation. I am waiting since 2010. Every time I enquire, you have an excuse. Shame on you.

*PLEASE Nantu, do your job properly. The salary gap between heads of departments, school principals and teachers is so big that it boils down to unfair treatment. Does Nantu represent the teachers’ interests or who do they represent?

*HOUSES in Namibia are so expensive, so are the cars. We cannot even make and sell kapana to help ourselves. City of Windhoek does not allow us to sell products on the street to make a living. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. We are suffering,

*THE political propagandist has been on a research-holiday in Zimbabwe investigating the Namibian/Zimbabwean newspapers’ status and street movement. Trying to find out if Zimbabweans as well as Namibians really read this propaganda mouth piece? If no, why does our government allocate such an enormous amount of our treasury to an ailing autocratic government of the army technocrats in Zimbabwe under the disguise of a ‘joint venture’. Our government without the mandate of the nation is set to inject N$57 million into the Namibian/Zimbabwean Newspaper venture, the Southern Times. These millions could be spent in resettling Zimbabweans roaming Independence Avenue with crying babies on their backs while Robert Mugabe lavishly celebrates his 89th birthday. God bless Africa if there is still moral responsibility and ethical liability.

*PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba and Cabinet, please think of all the poor women and children who don’t have transport and will certainly be exposed to the dangers when they go home after work, when we change to winter time.

*IT is heartbreaking for the beneficiaries to wait for a period of six months to a year for the pension benefit to be paid out after the death of a GIPF member. The children are suffering and some beneficiaries are even dying while waiting. This rule must be changed.

*KEEP it up Paulus ‘The Rock’ Ambunda. You did the Namibian nation proud, I would have suggested that you be promoted to the position of a lieutenant or even higher than the position of a class two warrant officer.

*THE World Economic Forum ranked Namibia the fifth top country for travel and tourist investors. Even ahead of big names like Kenya and Botswana. Namibia Tourism Board, together with the Investment Centre should capitalise on that. Can we promote the country on CNN, BBC, etc.

*THEO Namases, what does Air Namibia pay for? If they can’t pay for anything at all. It is now Namibia Airports Company which they cannot pay. What is next? Employees’ salaries?

*IF the City of Windhoek wants to avoid water shortages in Windhoek they must stop the car wash businesses that operate.

*IF people could take a pause, breath and resolve their differences and start looking at each other as people, the product would be joy.

*NOBODY is above the law! Paulus Ashipala do you really think it’s fair? What about the owner of a security company, which is Namibian and pays their security guards N$3 per hour? They even work double and triple shifts with no benefits.

Suggestion Box
*NAMIBIANS let’s change our lives. Let’s pray more so that we can receive God’s blessings, especially the rain!

*I AM pleading with President Hifikepunye Pohamba and Prime Minister Hage Geingob to remember the people who are older than 36 years-old. Please recruit them for the Police Force, NDF and Correctional Services. I thank you in advance.

*CAN the Anti-Corruption Commission investigate the way some people get jobs, especially in government institutions, while they are not even qualified. While some people with high qualifications are unemployed. It is disturbing to note that people can only get employment when they are connected to people in government structures. Favouritism and nepotism should be condemned in government institutions.

Health
*LIFE is a period between birth and death. Share your worries with a close friend. Find a shoulder.

*DIRECTOR of Health at Oshikoto Region, the staff at Omuthiya hospital are tired of the way our supervisors treat us. We need a meeting with the director to resolve this issue because the patients are suffering seriously.
– Concerned staff member

Education
*THE undersecretary for the Public Service, please send a delegation to Ohangwena Regional Council. Education directorate moved from Ondangwa to Eenhana but nothing was done in accordance with the section 23(1) of the Public Service Act that provides for the exemption of transport. In the process we have incurred debts which we cannot pay.

*EROS Primary School, what is going on? The pre-primary children are told that they can no longer be accommodated. They must look for another school. After paying and after all the costs parents incurred for school uniforms and stationary. Also please instruct your cleaners to clean the toilets properly. Our children are getting sick.
