SMSes for Thursday 07 March 2013

SMS Of The Day *OUR government will continue wasting much needed taxpayers’ money through bail-outs to non-performing parastatals such as Air Namibia if they continue employing recycled, incompetent ‘comrades’ as chief executive officers and managing directors. My heart bleeds to read about N$1.98 billion, which could have been used to help reduce unemployment going to AirNamibia.

Bouquets and Brickbats
*SO many people lose lives in riverbeds in and around Windhoek. It is known by all that criminals stay in riverbeds, especially at night. Why can’t the City Police and Nampol patrol all riverbeds at night  like they do at road blocks. Or are they afraid?

*CAN somebody please explain to Swanu MP, Usutuaije Maamberua that the smell is as a result of his uninformed words coming from his mouth. Stop with your one track backward thinking and try using your time doing something positive for Namibia and its people. Don’t sit around and wait for handouts. Get up and build something from scratch like those people you want to take away from. I am sure he doesn’t read much and follow the news in SADC region, because if he did he would have seen what happened in Zimbabwe. So, stop trying to destabalise Namibia by uttering every thought flying into your head. I salute the government for keeping our beloved country peaceful.

*IT is time for the Swapo party to open their eyes and stop corrupt activities of their young councillors at the Rundu Town Council. They are enriching themselves through various ways. Please, do something before the entire town is sold out. The country needs development. Stop selling land for your benefit, Think about those who voted you into those positions. President Hifikepunye Pohamba, please do something about these councillors.

*AVID millions came and went, shared by a few elites, We are still living a miserable and difficult live. NDC millions took the same route. The same elites still get facilitation fees. The police could not make a breakthrough, Stop the gravy train: 15% salary increase for politicians, amidst the misery in Havana and Otjitenda,

*MINISTER of Education, as well as the directors and inspectors. Please visit Aminius Primary School in the Otjozondjupa Region, We are suffering because of our principal. She only make us sign papers, but don’t encourage us to study or pay attention to work related issues. All the teachers are studying instead of teaching.

*STANDARD Bank Namibia referred back our daughter’s study loan application three times, giving all sorts of excuses. It is evident that they don’t want to help a needy student because the reasons they give don’t hold water. It takes them two to three weeks before they come up with those excuses. We took a loan from a friend to pay for her fees and I think the bank must be honest and transparent with the applicants. We understand that only one application out of five is being approved.

*I AM concerned about people’s health in Kilimandjaro and Babilon informal settlements. There is a certain person that sells rotten food, especially chicken and boerewors to the public, who again make kapana and sell it. This is unhealthy. Investigation must be launched to stop the practice. It is very dangerous and pose a serious threat to our health.

*CONGRATULATIONS to Paulus ‘The Rock’ Ambunda for his achievements, but I suggest that he  improves on his combinations. I think Nestor Tobias must delegate some of the responsibilities to other people, because he cannot handle everything. Ambunda nearly lost the fight because of a lack of coaching. I believe there are coaches who can do the job.

*BRING in a law that will ensure that all rapists are castrated. They enjoy jail sentence because they get free meals and accommodation where they rape other inmates for pleasure. It is time that women take a stand and voice their feelings. Violence in our country must stop! Either “castration’’ or the “death penalty’’.

*THE multi-million fresh produce business hub is very much welcome. Firstly, it can creat jobs. Secondly, it can supply us with locally produced fresh products. Thirdly, it can create much needed competition for the existing monopolies. Their prices are exhorbitant and the produce shockingly limp and tasteless due to over cooling and improper handling. Viva Namibia.

*WHY don’t ministers retire like other civil servants at the age of 60? A law should be passed to ensure that every worker retires at that age, including the politicians. That would give young people chance to fill those positions.

*I DON’T understand withdrawals at FNB, Rundu. On Monday, March 4, I withdrew N$20 000 and I was charged N$500. I asked them why the charges are so high when my salary is deposited at the bank and charges are made every month. The bank has to elaborate on this issue. The workers at the bank don’t make time to explain. Instead, they call the next customer.

*PETER Naholo tabled a very good motion in the National Assembly. The motion requests the Office of the Prime Minister to publish careers in the Government Gazette, whether in public or private sector, so that graduates can see careers they want to pursue. In that way the government can show that it is transparent.

*WHOEVER advises the Prime Minister should resign. Because there is a disaster looming in the Ministry of Justice. Credible sources indicate that all legal officers, including legal advisors, legislation drafters, government attorneys, public defenders and prosecutors are to have their salaries cut by 25%, due to the so-called regrading. Few years ago, the Minister of Justice submitted a request to cabinet to increase the salaries of all legal officer in order to retain them and attract others to the ministry. Now, the same professionals are to be degraded for reasons only known to the Office of the Prime Minister. We talk about backlog of cases in our courts, and yet the government is chasing away the same people who are already underpaid. From N$194 000 per year to N$167 000 is the biggest and final insult to the legal officers, I am resigning with all my experience.
– Frustrated prosecutor

*Shoprite-Trustco Life cover, is perceived to be a day-light robbery to our citizens, on March 1 2013, my total cover was N$8 769 after spending N$300 in Shoprite and on March 4 I spent N$57. The total cover decreased to N$5 642. How does it work?

Suggestion Box

*IMAGINE, the Namibian government donating N$500 million to NFA for three to five years to become a professional league. Six hundred direct jobs will be created immediately, not to mention the 200 indirect jobs. Strict accountability and tight budgeting will govern the progress.  I could assist with the drafting of a proposal for a reasonable fee. NFA, I am available.

Health
*ARE Cuban doctors really good as some people say. I don’t think so. I would advise Namibians and Venezuelans to make use of Namibian and South African doctors. The best that you can get.
– James

*WHAT is going on at Keetmanshoop State Hospital? How is it possible that the telephone lines are off? Is the service cut off because of no payment. Somebody is certainly not doing his/her work. How will this affect the patients and how long will it take to solve the problem?

*MINISTER of Health and Social Services, we need improvement as far as the treatment of patients at the Onandjokwe Lutheran State hospital is concerned. It is extremely important that you visit this hospital, especially at 07h00 in the morning. I came to the hospital at 07h00 and until 17h00 I did not receive treatment. Is this how it should be. Please help.

Education

*CAN the Minister of Education make clear the due date for the payment of national exams? We are confused. It was announced on the radio that the due date is Friday, but other sources say it is only in April.

*EROS Primary School. The toilets are nasty. We paid school fees for our children. Please clean and fix the broken and blocked toilets. Toilet paper should also be put in the toilets. Prefects did try to take it up with their supervisors but nothing has been done so far. – Worried parent

*UNAM, please arrange lecturers for Principles of Management. Or at least inform students what is happening.

*MINISTER of Education. You are not taking the entire education seriously. I am talking about Namcol Grade 12. If you see the number of children in streets because of the shortage of books then you will understand what I mean! Why don’t you provide enough books for all learners who want to improve their results through Namcol.

In and From the Regions
*PERMANENT Secretary of Health and Social Services. We need more ambulances to take victims from accident scene to hospitals in each region, like the one at Omuthiya which assist us during the festive season.

*I have a problem with Opuwo Municipality. People are not treated the same when applying for plots. Plots are always allocated to businesses, but when we apply for plots to build houses we are not considered. Lets be fair.

*THE person complaining about DSTV’s increment should keep quiet! Having DStv is a luxury! Pay up or disconnect!

*PEOPLE should stop bad-mouthing Eros Primary School and hostel. Why  run to the papers with issues that we can resolve at school or the hostel? Why are you hiding behind the newspapers. If you have so many issues with our school why don’t you take your child to another school or hostel?

*TO the lady who is complaining about men scratching their private parts in public; it is their right, just like you have the right to wear a miniskirt. If you see a man doing it just close your eyes.

*THE money to pay senior citizens doesn’t come from the government but from our own pockets! Who’s fooling who?
