Food For Thought
*MINISTRY of Works and Transport and Air Namibia, Hosea Kutako International Airport needs to be upgraded to match international standards. Even Eros Airport is far better than Hosea Kutako, especially the landing strip.
*EVERY contribution to the liberation struggle of Namibia and South Africa counts. So, please give recognition to all the internal and international pressure and sanctions that led to the collapse of apartheid.
*WHEN will our president introduce a bill or discussion on unemployment of all Namibians? We are tired of suffering without any remorse from government.
Labour
*THE salary regrading of GRN is a shame. The poor cleaners’ salaries were decreased. People with diplomas are paid the same salary as those without qualifications. The regrading increases the gap between rich and poor. Please Prime Minister Hage Geingob, look into this matter before implementation.
Bouquets And Brickbats
*NFA and NBC, you are a disgrace to the country. How on earth did you not show the game on TV while you always show English Premier League games? I am not against the showing of EPL games, but do the same when your country is playing. As for you NFA, start to take the game to the people. Not the other way round.
*THE Independence celebration at Olufuko Centre in Outapi was like a Swapo rally. Everyone donned Swapo colours from head to toe. Swapo flags on cars, Swapo number plates and stickers on cars were seen all over the town. People here hardly make a difference between national and party events. I am a full Swapo member but I am really not impressed by this.
*DEAR Paul Vleermuis, sorry for reading that they suspended you again. My people say that you are probably too honest to be a CEO of a place like Keetmanshoop.
*THANK you Intercape for bringing your service to the north. We were being grabbed at terminals, buses are dirty and drivers are rude.
*OH, the media! Why always talk about men cheating? When will you tell us why women cheat?
*NBC TV news should be detailed please. They cut everything short and make the news too boring in the process. We want to watch the news and not only the headlines or just part of the news.
*DOES NBC only have one presenter? How can Ferdinand Molale read news, present ‘Inside Politics’, ‘The Week that Was’ etc? Too much of a good thing...
*ALBERT Kawana should publicly apologise to the people of Caprivi. He is talking about the constitution on the issue of land between Kavango and Caprivi. For his information, the constitution can be challenged where it violates the rights of the citizens.
*BRAVE Warriors need a foreign coach. Period! No explanation needed. It’s obvious!
*THE President was again condemning corruption during his Independence Day speech, while a certain Member of Parliament was amongst his invited guests. This same MP was caught with his hands in the Avid/SSC cookie jar where N$30 million got stolen!
*THE topic of ‘If you met President Pohamba, what would you ask him and why?’ This goes to the parents of Hilka Amutenya. Please teach your child good manners. Hifikepunye Pohamba is our president and we respect him.
–We encourage our young people to speak their mind. Just because we respect someone doesn’t mean we shouldn’t criticise them, especially if they are elected servants of the people.

*INDEPENDENCE Day. What’s that? Namibian leaders own up to three to four farms and they still continue to greedily, unashamedly and unapologetically fence off land illegally, while thousands of landless citizens languish in informal settlements without electricity and clean water. The youth unemployment rate has skyrocketed and seemingly with no end in sight. The offspring of the true fallen and unsung heroes and heroines of the liberation struggle have yet to taste the fruits of their parents’ labour. They are turning in their graves as we speak. Shame on Swapo! President Hifikepunye Pohamba must shape up or ship out, because he has already failed the nation dismally. Independence has yet to arrive for the masses. This government is the biggest joke of the century. Hypocrisy should be classified as a disease.
*PEOPLE must be very careful of some taxis. The drivers are robbing customers, treating them badly and even insulting and beating them, especially after hours.
*MINISTER Nahas Angula, it is good that you have realised that Swapo has lost its touch with the masses and vision. RDP has realised it a long time ago. Namibians, opens your eyes.
*WAS the RDP president, Hidipo Humutenya and Lapaka ya Weyulu campaigning on March 21 2013 through Oshiwambo Radio Service? Can someone tell me what was the intention of their discussion?
*SAME old promises. Same old problems. Lack of housing, corruption, poor health care, poverty, unemployment and many more. Happy 23rd birthday Namibia.
*DEAR fellow Namibians, is Independence Day just another important national day only for the black Namibians? Why don’t we see whites and coloureds in numbers at such events? The president must do something so we can start seeing these people at those events. They are disrespectful to our heroes.
*FNB KEETMANSHOOP main branch, why don’t you put more than one ATM outside the bank? We are tired of standing in the long queue. This leads to slow or poor service.
*AIR NAMIBIA must cut costs and reduce the salary of the MD and work on a policy of performance based salary. That means ‘more performance more pay, and less performance less pay’. That would be better than dishing out more money to a poorly managed airliner.
*WHERE is this country heading to? It is amazing to note that a judgement delivered by a judge is not final. Why does the state always appeal against judgements delivered in courts. Why do we need judges and court proceedings if judgements are to be appealed. The state is wasting tax payers’ money.
* CITY OF WINDHOEK, was it really necessary to switch off our electricity in Otjomuise on Thursday without informing us? Thank you that we could not watch the live broadcast of the Independence Day. To make matters worse, your 24 hours telephone line was off. Please inform us in future before you cut off electricity.
*WHILE remembering and commemorating our Independence, we must be vigorous and steadfast, when we are looking at all factors that shaped our history. That will enable us to include all. Now that we are 23 years independent we need to tackle issues pertaining to unemployment, development etc with the vision and wisdom required.
*I SUPPORT the SMS that says orphans of the liberation struggle must be considered and assisted and those with parents should go back home.
*WHERE are the councillors of Henties Bay? They definitely don’t deserve my vote.
*THE Minister of Agriculture must resign and go home if our livestock die because of the drought.
*PRIME MINISTER Hage Geingob, the NBC presenter failed to leave the telephone number or postal address to which we can send our questions for the next ‘PM’s Question Time’. Please help.
*THE OK Furniture shop in Swakopmund must take their stock and go back to South Africa. The manager does not respect Namibians. Let’s work together as Namibians, please.
*THE cost of living has skyrocketed. A taxi lamp is now N$480. The price of petrol is increasing every month. That means, the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.
*PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba is one of the best leaders on the African continent and he is a symbol of unity in Namibia.
*MINISTRY of Trade and the Ministry of Finance, could you please start facilitating trade and remove the unnecessary trade barriers? Which infant company are you trying to protect? I am referring to the importing of cars. We don’t manufacture or assemble cars in Namibia. In fact, what do you achieve by prohibiting us to buy imported cars? You are oppressing your own who voted you into power. South Africa is working hard and they are building factories and give jobs to their people. Please protect your people against poverty.
*I THINK the mayor of Keetmanshoop wants to run both offices; the CEO’s office and the office of the mayor.
*THE War Veterans are forgotten or aren’t they? If not, and if transparency matters to the Minister of Veterans Affairs, could he explain to the Namibian nation as to why the Minister is dragging his feet on registration of the remaining war veterans. We want to remind the government and the minister concerned that the Namibian people are poor but they are not fools. The late Minister of Education Abraham Iyambo said “deliver, deliver and deliver.”
*WELL done to NBC for the fantastically organised 23rd Independence anniversary broadcast. We enjoyed the historical background of the struggle. Keep us informed through your programmes. We can learn more about the history of the struggle that brought freedom and independence which we enjoy today. Thank you.
*IT SEEMS the tenders are awarded through the backdoor. The unemployment is another big problem. We feel like strangers in our own country. Yet, it is expected of us to be proud Namibians.
Service Please
*EVERY month I find at least three letters of other people using my box number. Are there others experiencing the same problem? What can we do about it?
*THE Veterinary Service of the Ministry of Agriculture received a donation of five motorcycles from the African Union sponsored project in 2011 but the plant and fleet management of MAWF have failed to register those motorcycles for government use. They are still collecting dust at plant and fleet store rooms for more than two years. No wonder Namibia is ranked a third world nation.
*THE Managing Director of Air Namibia and colleagues must look into the pricing policy of Air Namibia. Air Namibia’s domestic fares are way too high comparing to regional fares. How can we pay more money from Rundu to Windhoek than from Windhoek to Johannesburg. You are killing the domestic market.
Suggestion Box
*CAN the NFA please ask its DJs to only play local music at national events. We are tired of the South African crap. We are proudly Namibian!
*I URGE the GRN to research how kids born in exile during the struggle are treated in Angola, Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe etc.
*NOW that we have once more bailed out Air Namibia with our hard earned money, it will only be fair for Air Namibia to introduce special fares for Namibians travelling domestically. What is the use of keeping Air Namibia running if ordinary Namibians can’t afford to make use of its flights.
Education
*DAVID Namwandi, are you aware that Flamingo Primary School principal is forcing parents to pay N$100 per child per term? Is free and compulsory education not applicable to this school although it is also a government school.
*THE Minister Of Education and the Director of Education in Oshana Region must investigate the conduct of the Principal of Etambo who is beating our children. We want your intervention.
– A concerned parent
*MINISTER of Education, can you explain to us why the list of people who were awarded the scholarships to study in Malaysia was kept a big secret? I suspect foul play here. Provide us with that list so we can know for sure. Viva transparency!
*MINISTER David Namwandi, teachers should be transferred to schools of their choice throughout the year. Some schools are run by principals who can be described as evil. They crush the ideas of teachers who criticise. Those principals even go to the extend of blacklisting teachers at various schools so they cannot be accepted there. Some have turned to monitoring teachers after school hours and report them to the principal. This is common in the Ohangwena Region. We need to grow professionally and also to work in conducive environments.
