SMSes for Wednesday 09 January 2013

SMS Of The Day *MANY Namibians want to earn a lot of money and work very little! Recipe for disaster!

Food for Thought
*CORRUPTION is clearly a big enemy of Namibia. Everywhere you go people seem to do things their own way, some of us should queue up while others just push in and get out quickly. I’ve been to various places, including a bank and insurance company on the same day but it happens everywhere. You should just know people, that’s it.

*ACCORDING to the Zambia Daily Mail, President Sata instructed millers to keep prices below K50 000 and they complied. Presidential powers are enormous and Zambians must be happy.

*LET’S start 2013 responsibly! Some of the reasons for unemployment in our country are the irresponsible unions and the “out of touch” with reality labour laws!

Bouquets and Brickbats
*“SAA bailed out-report”... This happens with all the airlines! Air Namibia and the Namibian government, congratulations on the purchase of Air Namibia’s own aircraft. The MD, Theo Namases and her team are trying their best. Keep it up.

*TSUMEB Unam, are you braiding peoples hair in front of your office? Are you a hair salon now? Namibia what’s happening to us?

*PENSIONERS don’t get proper medical care anymore in Namibian hospitals, why? Is it because they don’t pay or is it Minister Kamwi’s strategy to end their lives slowly by just giving them Panado? Suggestion: every hospital should establish a department  with a doctor or senior nurse to screen pensioners and refer them to the right facilities for proper treatment. A pensioner who is a cancer patient was transferred to Eenhana from Onandjokwe without an ambulance on January 7. Is it right? President Pohamba, send your teams out to investigate these hospitals – Eenhana, Onandjokwe and Engela. Where there is smoke there is fire.

*SAFETY and security in Namibia is like a dog without a tail. N$20 000 reward to capture Lazarus Shaduka is the joke for 2013. You’ve shown the world that you are toothless and that’s why crime is increasing everyday. Even G4S won’t make such a silly mistake. You complained about your budget but now you have money to reward people?

Service Please
*THE X-Ray and Sonar Department of Ongwediva Medipark offer poor service. How is it that one sits from 09h00 to 17h00 waiting to be attended to? Improve on your services please and be fast.

*NHE please hand over our houses in Otjomuise in February/March as per your promise. When will municipal services be installed in those houses?

Education
*HOW can the University of Namibia plan to stop part-time studies? How can Vision 2030 be achieved if employed people can no longer attend afternoon classes? Distance education is not a solution because not everyone will be comfortable with it. Please Unam, do not take away part time study because it will affect Namibia as a whole.

*ABRAHAM Iyambo, we want our children who wrote Grade 8 and 9 exams,  many of whom got an F in Mathematics to continue to the next grade because it is not good to repeat a grade while you have only failed one subject. Please minister, we pray for you to do so.

*ABRAHAM Iyambo please print the Grade 10 results. We want to have a hard copy of the results for our children. Please hear our cries.
–Concerned parent

*I AM a Unam student but my loan is not yet paid and registration is starting soon! Please Minister of Education, check on this issue before the institution opens for registration.

Labour
*MINISTRY of Justice, when are the teachers who were on illegal strike going to be charged with contempt of court? Be reminded that they are planning again to take to the streets due to the 31 percent increment of the top brass. We want to see justice prevail as a future deterrent before our kids suffer another setback.

*IMAGINE a person getting paid N$700 at the end of month! I am working at a service station in Okahandja. Please, we need help!

*THE Judge President Damaseb’s report on remuneration of MPs and political office bearers (POBs) falls short of robustly addressing the importance of accountability of MPs and POBs. There should be a functional system or body that monitors the performance and conduct of MPs and POBs at all times. How many times did the National Assembly not meet due to a lack of a quorum. It is like, no work but getting paid – not fair at all. A 31 percent increase to 60 percent of an increase in perks and salaries without robust accountability and supervision measures is a charade of the ideals of good governance and democracy. It reminds of the novel ‘Animal Farm’ by George Orwell.

*CAN someone please come and rescue doctors, nurses and the patients at Katutura Hospital’s operating theatre as we are really suffering. No toilets, no telephone, no air con. Please hear our cry Richard Kamwi. We can’t work under such conditions.

*THANKS for the SMS congratulating the Napwu representative at Gobabis municipality for not taking the voluntary retrenchment package. Maybe the writer of the SMS took a decision that she now regrets and wants to blame others for his or her  miscalculated decision. It’s your decision to start from zero. Live with it and stop the blame game.

Lost and Found

Politics
*SWAPO youth, please refrain from the politics of personality cult worshiping. Communism tried and failed. Concentrate on youth development and nation building instead of the idea of erecting a statue for Sam Nujoma.

*I’M HAPPY that Havana number one still hasn’t gotten electricity because they do not vote for other parties. So they vote to be forgotten. Feel your own pain.

*I BELIEVE the stories in the Namibian Sun and The Namibian about the racial remarks made by the Deputy Minister of Mines and Energy at Berseba as well the remarks made by a Regional Councillor at the recent Swapo Congress which I heard through the grapevine. I therefore call on Swapo, on which political ticket the two are, to recall both and not only Isaacks if someone has to be recalled because an injury to one is an injury to all. Let there be a lesson learnt from would-be racist perpetrators, especially those who are in leadership positions.

Response to Previous SMSes
Complaint
*STANDARD Bank’s Mpumzi Pupuma, double deduction of debit orders in January? You have got to be kidding me!

Response
Standard Bank Namibia (SBN) recently experienced operational difficulties resulting in double deductions for Vehicle and Asset Finance (VAF) installments. SBN acknowledges the error and duly apologises for any inconvenience this may have caused. All affected customers will be reimbursed accordingly.

*IN the USA children are encouraged to find employment during the school holidays. Here in Namibia it is regarded as illegal.

In and From the Regions
*THE Luderitz Mayor, town councillors and everyone responsible, please do something to develop your town. The buildings in front of your sports complex need to be written off or done away with. I felt like I was somewhere in Iraq or Afghanistan when I saw those buildings. Not to talk about the one opposite Pupkewitz Megabuild.

*AS a resident of Kuisebmund Seapoint in Walvis Bay, we are suffering from the bad smell of fishmeal. Where is the health and safety in Walvis Bay. Please do something.

*ONGWEDIVA Town council or NORED, whoever is responsible. Please do something. Onguti Street lamps in Hanover have been off for too long. This is attracting thieves. We are scared!

*WHY can’t electricity lines that go to Tulihongeni Combined School be shared with ordinary residents at Oshapwa that are qualified to have electricity lines in their homesteads?

*PLEASE Maltahohe Regional Council, reduce your swimming pool fee from N$20 to N$5. Pools in Windhoek don’t even charge so much. Not all of us can afford to pay so much. Please do something. We are unemployed.

*PLEASE, please, Okankolo Councillor can you tar the road between Onayena and Okankolo. Other councillors are working. What are you doing in your office?
– Disappointed
