Food for Thought
*I AM surprised that Veronica de Klerk and Joan Guriras have such high expectations of the legal system, to fix the problem of domestic violence. These relations start with social interaction and their health is based on social contracts, not on legal contracts! No legal system can advise on how men and women can or should interact! So, we should not expect much from the legal system to resolve these problems as they can only be remedied by healthy social contracts.
*AVOID corruption and get your fine payment system in order. All manual administration has room for fraud and corruption. Why can’t fines be paid online or by debit order? If fined in Karibib, why can’t I pay in Windhoek or online? We as Namibians are not united at all, it’s ‘everyone for himself’. Now we know why our country is so highly ranked on the corruption list because we want to be manual.
Bouquets and Brickbats
*NAMIBIAN men must learn to be the ‘protectors’ of women, not killers!
*RICHARD Kamwi, the state hospital in Swakopmund impressed me recently. It’s clean and there is order. Tell the staff to keep it up.

*FELLOW Namibian government of this beautiful country, help me answer this: Do we as a country have consumer protection or any price control, or is it up to individual businesses to put up their own exorbitant prices as they wish? If yes, those authorities must visit Steenbrass Restaurant.
*BRYAN Bantam, You are making the worst mistake. Why can’t African Stars go and look for players somewhere else? We need Bantam in our team. We are all behind you coach.

*WHY are people concerned about Abraham Iyambo’s health status? Leave the man alone! Everyone has the right to seek medical check-ups wherever he wants to. Many of you go to private doctors in Namibia and when you are sick, you do not go to government hospitals. Did anyone blame you for not going to government hospitals? Mind your own business and leave the minister alone!
*LAWYER jailed over fraud. The next thing you will probably hear is that she was appointed as a director of some board. Viva corruption! Viva Namibia!
*CHINA concerned about the quality and standard of our abattoirs and public health? How many of their fake and low quality products are flooding our markets and they have the nerve to question our quality standards? This is an unequal trade relationship, and it seems we are cool with it just for political expediency. Economic exploitation is everywhere, be it from capitalist or communist.
*I FULLY agree with the SMS ‘Botswana is the safest country in Africa’. It is not only the safest, but also that there is no government tender corruption because they have real leaders.
*SINCERE gratitude to MediClinic Windhoek staff, for the outstanding services. Starting with the reception/registration area, to sister Monica Shikongo (Chief), and her competent team at B ward, the theatre/surgery to kitchen services. All of you make us proud Namibians. Keep it up!

*I’M VERY disturbed and disappointed about how our own neighbours are busy destroying their neighbourhood; Dorado Valley, Ara Street. City of Windhoek, please come and see how it looks and start giving fines to whoever dumps their rubbish in front our houses.
*YOU people sometimes make a lot of noise on useless issues. Is it by force that someone should be treated in Namibia for any sickness or whatsoever? If Abraham Iyambo chose to go to Cuba, it’s nobody’s business. And who said PSEMAS paid for his treatment? Also, if you are mocking him because he had a stroke as you assumed, are you resistant to a stroke?
*I SUSPECT Abraham Iyambo got a leak of the state of the health report commissioned by the President. I propose a cabinet and MTI & company retreat in Cuba, to strengthen their health relations.
*WHY IS it that you are working for government for many years and someone who began working after you is entitled to official accommodation? But if you ask, there’s no open places. What a scam!
*TO superintendent Helena Mootseng and her colleagues. With all due respect for the fines that were issued in the first place. To the courts, the same for arrest warrants. What is frightening and worrisome is that the situation has been allowed to deteriorate to these epic proportions. Surely, as a layperson, my understanding is that the same City Police should have enforced the arrest warrants with the same vigour that the tickets were issued with. As the saying goes, “ two wrongs don’t make a right”, but the City Police are just as much to blame for the current fiasco caused over a period of four years. She further states that they are “taking stringent actions to recover the money” from what? It was not borrowed! It seems to me like bullying and threatening ‘soft targets’ again. The other question arises, where and when will there be a cut-off for this futile exercise? Like they say in business “cut your losses”!

*UNTIL when will we continue to yield to Chinese tactics of forcing government to loan more money from the China Exim Bank and for the NAC to say there is nothing wrong with their CEO [allegedly] taking a girlfriend along to China? This shows that the CEO has no morals nor conscience. He should be fired immediately!
*THE Swapo government has been characterised by sweeping matters under the carpet, and inconsistency. At once, the Police Inspector General ordered the arrest of taxi drivers for ‘obstructing the flow of traffic on public roads’. Now, the so called ‘struggle kids’ are obstructing traffic flow by marching on public roads and instead of arresting them, the police are guarding them on public roads. Why?
Suggestion Box
*I APPRECIATE the MoE’s desperate action to address the acute shortage of teachers by reopening applications at Unam and financing the student-teachers. However, as a parent who serves on a schoolboard, I’ve observed a lot of unqualified teachers who are enrolled at Unam and IOL and are paying from the little salary of an unqualified teacher. Vacancies in which they are the only applicants and for which schoolboards recommend them are re-advertised. Minister Abraham Iyambo, please don’t advertise the posts of teachers who are studying and also give financial assistance.
Service Please
*TELECOM Namibia must stop advertising lies about services they don’t provide. The email2fax is not known by their employees at Ondangwa branch. Been there twice but no one can assist.
*WHEN is MTC going to do something about the poor and erratic reception at Brakwater? Have they not heard this is one of the focal development areas for Windhoek?
*BANK Windhoek, Katutura, until when will you continue to force your clients to use ATMs of other banks especially in Wanaheda and Goreagab where your ATMs are frequently not working. Get serious!
*STRAY dogs have become a nuisance in the Windhoek residential areas nowadays. Can the City of Windhoek publicly and seriously warn dog owners to obey the municipal law by keeping dogs in their yards. The majority of the dogs around are not licensed at all.
*WHEN will government resolve the issue of Home Affairs? We are suffering! Why not employ educated young people? Have a conference or something and work on it!
*BANK Windhoek Kudu Branch, you always have too few tellers on duty, sometimes only one. On January 29 at 09h50, there were 50 people in the queue and only three tellers. Please provide services to those who pay your salaries. Where are the supervisors? Plan ahead for month-end and rush hours!
*I REPORTED water being wasted from a tap because the tap does not close properly since September 2012, but nothing is done until today. Save water at the Central Hospital nurse’s home.
Labour
*THE GRN housing scheme was to be increased by 100 percent. I went to renew my form and the new amount is N$430 000 from N$399 000. This government is not serious about our well-being!
*SARA Naanda please think of the low salaries we are paid at TransNamib. Imagine a big parastatal like TransNamib paying a general worker N$2 700. It’s very shameful! We demand a N$4 000 for a general worker. Otherwise, tools down!
Education
*PLEASE Ministry of Education, investigate the Institute Of Bankers College, they are giving diploma courses that are not accredited by the NQA.
*DEAN of the School of Natural Resources and Tourism, may you please supervise your lecturers. Do lecture visits. MILB students are suffering because there are [no] proper guides. We only know your name through the prospectus when we received study materials. We also want to evaluate lecturers after the end of each course, as has happened with other Masters courses at the Polytechnic of Namibia.
*EROS Primary School, the Eros Fund should not be binding. Please give our kids stationary. We want to enjoy the fruits of independence which is free education for all.
*LOOK into secondary schools development funds, because some secondary schools are N$500, while others start from N$800 to N$1500. Can that please be considered. At least an average school fund, because all of them are government schools.
*EDUCATION Director in Oshikoto Region and the Education Inspector of Omuthiya circuit, what should we do to our children who were not admitted to Grade 1 because the schools are full and schools don’t want to put them back in pre-school? Can’t you create more Grade 1 classes instead of children sitting at home? We need help!
*POLYTECH, please streamline your registration and final selection process and get rid of the arrogant employee announcing requirements to enter a building!
