Food for Thought
*MAY 2013 be a year of reduction of HIV infections by 50 percent and absolute stoppage of passion killings, road accidents, suicides and theft.
*LET Namibian housekeepers’ salary increase in 2013, especially those who get paid N$350 per month. Please, our government, help!
*Namibians, wake up! We drink too much and there are too many public holidays all year round. Close all shebeens!
*Namibia doesn’t have an unemployment fund. Thus use the BIG Project (N$100 per person per month) for unemployed people only. They can use that to start generating an income.
Bouquets and Brickbats
*I have two contracts with Leo that are about to expire. The Leo network service is poor and limited. Telecom Namibia took over, but will they also transfer their inefficiencies and make the situation even worse? Could they not get someone from outside to revive and improve the situation? MTC was charging N$2.80 p/minute before Leo came, they now charge 38c p/minute and still makes profit. I don’t want MTC to price as they feel like if Leo folds. Don’t really know what to do.
*THE world sees a great lesson in India. How a city, men as well, protest against the raping of a student. One for all and all for one. Namibians must wake up!
*IT’S a shame to see people contributing thousands of dollars to events like the Swapo congress while women sleep outside the hospital before giving birth and there are also a lot of homeless people in Namibia.
*MOOLA Mobile, what procedures must be taken if I want Moola Mobile to stop sending me SMSes? I have been playing for the whole year but up until today did not win a dollar. Please respond and give some feedback in The Namibian.
*MOOLA Bonanza, please we want to see how do you do your draw. You never show the draw. You just call the winner to show us.
*FIRSTLY, wishing you all a good 2013. For Christmas and New Year I sent approximately 22 messages of good wishes to family and friends. What a disappointment! I only received four replies on both occasions! Is it not bad manners not to return greetings on these important occasions? Just asking.
*WELL done Karas and Hardap Grade 12 candidates! You were rated last while attempting tough subjects like maths, science and accounting. The northern regions’ 100 percent pass in Oshikwanyama is of no use. We want doctors, engineers, geologists.
*YOU who are well educated and nicely employed who think security guards are stupid, it’s not like we have a choice but do that job to support our families. Next time think twice and put yourself in our shoes. Shame on you!
*TEACHERS of regions that are performing must get 31 percent increment. Lazy teachers must not get anything.
*WHY do our police not patrol the riverbed in and around Windhoek because criminals and botsostos are hiding in the rivers, or are they afraid!
Labour
*MINISTRY of Health, make sure that all administration staff are fully equipped with the relevant knowledge and skills. The Office of the Prime Minister is responsible for training but your ministry always has no funds to train these categories. Reshuffling of staff doesn’t improve any thing. It just creates more problems.
*GRN must start giving allowance to staff members who joins the gym. A healthy work force is very productive and spend less on medical expenses.
Service Please
*CITY of Windhoek, please give your cashiers cash note counting machines to improve their productivity. They struggle when counting in thousands.
*OLD Mutual, your service on January 2 was hopeless poor. That is not how you should treat your clients. I waited for three hours without any respect from your side. It was a mess!
*FREE Life Cover, why are some voucher numbers invalid?
*MINISTER Of Education, please tell Polytechnic Of Namibia to pay the remaining student refunds. Some of our kids have not yet received their refunds and it’s the beginning of a new year already and they have expenses. Some already received theirs and it’s not fair to those who haven’t.
*WELWITSCHIA Nammic Insurance broker Ondangwa, keep in mind that we are also your clients. You have neglected as for five months now. We can’t spend a lot of money traveling to Oshakati every time we want to enquiry. Please get a consultant to assist us in Ondangwa. Every time you call, all staff members are in Oshakati and no one can assist us in Ondangwa.
*MINISTRY of Home Affairs, we need you to increase the speed with which you deal with changing of names and surnames on birth certificates. I changed my surname when I was in Grade 12. I then passed with 32 points and want to pursue my studies but I don’t have my documents. It’s a full year and I am just idle waiting for my documents.
*Standard Bank, why offer a cellphone notification service if you can’t provide the service? Our salary deposits are reported very late, sometimes only at 13h00. Please do something.
*MTC, please do something about Otavi’s network. We sometimes stay for a day or two without signal. Please help us.
*TRUSCO Free Life Cover, get real! You promise that the more you SMS the bigger your cover but let me tell you that its a lie. My cover went up to N$29 000 but now it’s N$25 000 and it’s just getting less and less.
Education
*ABRAHAM Iyambo, it won’t help learners to get free education at primary level where there is no opportunity lost due to non payment of school development fund. Use the money wisely by building more vocational training centres and make it compulsory and free for all leaners who fail Grade 10. Only then will education make an impact on the lives of people because it will produce many artisans/skilled youths who can create their own employment activities.
*WHILE provision of free education for Grades 0 to 7 is good news, one doubt if it will eventually improve poor results. I believe that 50 million can have a direct impact on results if we use it to build classrooms, libraries, well equipped laboratories and invest more in vocational training.
Politics
*I HOPE with renewed energy and focus that the president will not allow the public office bearers recommended salary adjustment to go through in its current form. It will be a slap in the face of the party we trust, I mean Swapo.
In and From the Regions
*WE really need a health inspector in Outapi because some shops are selling expired products, especially milk.
*RCC what is your rural development plan, especially with all the bad gravel roads in Omatjete -Daures constituency? Remember, there is no rural without roads.TIPEEG should not just build toilets without running water in villages and informal settlements.
– Gatvol taxpayer – Ozondati
*NORED, what’s wrong with your electricity in Ondangwa? Every weekend the power is off without any notice. I think it is high time we sue you for our damaged electrical appliances.
