SMSes for Wednesday 27 February 2013

SMS Of The Day *PLEASE people, reframe from tribalism. Where are we heading Namibia?

Food for Thought
*BUCKET toilets: Fransfontein community members, what you have there is pure gold ‘humanure’ ideal for making beautiful soil and sustainable organic gardens, plus bucket toilets save our most precious resource: water!

*IF only us women could rise up in numbers and demonstrate against baby dumping, like with the miniskirts. Namibia would be a better place.

*THE Oscar Pistorius case in SA and our not so recent case of Magdalena Stoffels gives me sleepless nights about my country. How many forensic scientists do we have in Namibia? Minister of Safety and Security and Inspector General of Nampol what are we doing about it? We’re not even prepared to give bursaries for the willing and able sons and daughters of our soil. When will we act outside the box and face our challenges?

*LOCAL is lekker but local is expensive compared to foreign imports. Look at our  Namibian chicken, milk, cement and Top Score. We want to enjoy our own products but we can’t afford them. If government grants infant industry protection to local producers, it should also see to it that the prices are reduced for every citizen to be able to afford.

*COMPANIES in Namibia, please stop importing diary products! You push our farmers into bankruptcy! Be proud, support Namibia by buying Namibian products! That way you provide jobs to the unemployed.

Service Please
*STANDARD BANK should close their doors as a bank. Their home loan department has a system where you are issued a ticket to wait for a consultant. This really does not work at all. What are we – livestock? Even the reception ladies in front at the home loan department are very unfriendly and the home loan administration department takes forever to send out instructions to lawyers. Please close your doors or employ capable staff especially in your home loan departments.

*UNAM Oshakati management needs help. Your frontline staff members are ignoring phone calls in our presence.

*IT is useless for Coca Cola to advertise competitions while Rundu outlets don’t have the envelops required to enter the competition.

*STANDARD BANK wake up and smell the coffee. Try to keep up with your fellow banks. Don’t you notice the wonders they are doing for their customers. Come up with cellphone banking so we the Standard Bank customers can also buy airtime directly from the bank, or else you will lose us very soon.

Suggestion Box
*THE Namibian Government seriously needs to implement a law requiring all trucks to be off road from 19h00 to 06h00, as this is the time frame in which they are a nuisance to other road users.

*THE Vatican should allow Catholic cardinals and bishops to marry in order to avoid these sex scandals. Marriage is a gift from God and not a curse. It’s inhumane to allow these people to officiate as marriage officers when they themselves do not have any knowledge of marriage. They watch the groom kiss the bride and they long to experience how that feels by turning to those under their care to satisfy their feelings. Why stick to a man-made law that causes people to sin.

*CAUTION to Unam Windhoek campus: If one of the lecture halls catches fire a lot of students will die in a stampede. Open both of the lecture hall doors. Also people using wheelchairs cannot even access some lecture halls!

*PRIME Minister, please issue a directive that all state owned enterprises, government organisations etc, should fly Air Namibia. It is unacceptable that the taxpayer keeps bailing out Air Namibia while it keeps losing customers to SAA.

*RUNDU Town Council please get hold of SADC road signs and markings before you implement any speed humps on public roads or call the Windhoek City Police Traffic Unit to give you good guidance.

City Fathers
*CITY Of Windhoek can you tar our gravel roads in Wanaheda with the mess you remove from Florence Nightingale Street? It will make a difference. We are sick and tired of dust. Poor people also deserve respect!

*OUTJOMUISE: The place of bars, pubs and drinking holes. There are no internet cafes, libraries or community halls... Is this development?

*I AM renting a house for six years, every year there is an increase of 15 percent. My wish is to get a plot and build my own house but every year, I cannot get a residential plot.

*NIILO Taapopi, do the honourable thing and resign. And while you are at it take your councillors with you. You have all failed Windhoek residents. How long should we live in these deplorable conditions? Why allow foreigners to buy residential properties in Namibia? Is it because you all can afford the same in foreign countries?

*ADAM Eiseb, you lost the battle against taxis and all the traffic offences while you were chasing after your traffic officers with cameras, we need your help on the streets of Windhoek.

*THE councillor of Moses Garoeb Constituency, please hear our cries. We need a taxi rank in Omulunga Street, Hakahana. One has to pay double to this street, and then we have to walk a long distance to reach home, taxis don’t like going on gravel roads where we live.

*THIS does appear to be strange.... that a local signage company has been tasked to do road repairs in the central business district... And looking at how long the ‘construction work’ has been going on at the intersections alongside and behind  Wernhil Park and the ‘newly constructed’ uneven pavements and tarred surfaces, maybe it would have been wiser to give the tender to a company that specialises in this type of work.

Bouquets and Brickbats
*ERUNDU Combined School in Oshana, please clean your school yard. You are the dirtiest school in Oshakati.

*BRAVO Hage Geingob, the Chinese have EPLs all over the region to such an extent that even small miners in the region can’t make a living. All so-called investments must have a certain percentage of Namibians.

*THE government must close the bars at the defence bases. Our men go to work sober in the morning, and come back drunk in the afternoon. You are the ones promoting alcohol abuse and allowing our men to abuse us physically and emotionally. I am tired. Can the Ministry of Defence please do something.

*I CAN’T remember the last time I watched NBC, and I have just been informed that I didn’t miss a thing. What a waste of money are we are paying for TV licenses.

*CONGRATULATIONS Prime Minister. The Chinese demands to have free Chinese towns and employment in Namibia is over!

*HOW can the Namibian milk industry complain of imminent collapse if they charge N$26 for two litres at Checkers?

Education
*I WOULD like to know when the Ministry of Education will pay student loans for 2013?

*DAVID Namwandi, your first assignment must be to cut the Grade 10 and 12 exam fees. They are more than the pensioners monthly grant.

*THE boys hostel at Eros Primary School is very dirty. Children are also very dirty  because matrons are restricting them from bathing and we pay N$1 010 per child each term. What are they doing with that money if children are even complaining that they don’t get satisfied by the food from the hostel? Let the children bath without restrictions and start with the cleaning campaigns please.

Politics
*Namibian politics are so boring. Please bring back Kazenambo Kazenambo. He is missed by all.

Response to Previous SMSes
*I DON’T agree that African culture is about family. All I see is women with many kids and no man in sight. Women who have been beaten, raped and murdered by their boyfriends. Maybe western culture is selfish, but we don’t unrealistically measure our worthiness by how many kids we can make, when we can’t afford them.

In and From the Regions
*PEOPLE from Okombahe, what is going on? Street lights are on the whole day. Who is paying for this? Are people from the municipality blind to this? It has been like that for months. Please stop wasting precious energy and taxpayers money. Incompetent municipality.

*MINISTER Charles Namholoh please do something to Witvlei’s two CEOs as we cannot afford both. Swapo should call the Witvlei Village councillors to order or dismiss them, they  do nothing but fight. Why not rather declare Witvlei as a settlement because there is no development, meanwhile our debts are piling up at Nam Power and Nam Water.

*I AM a resident of Omaruru and I have a problem with the sky rocketing water bills at the town. Even if you are only two people staying at home with no garden, you get  water bills stating that you owe the municipality an amount that is so high, it is unbelievable. This even happens if you go away for the festive season and lock all your water taps. The Anti-Corruption Commission should please look into this matter.

*HOW can the Ongwediva Town Council allow a specific house in Helao Nafidi Street to be a hostel? It is noisy and unhygienic for more than 50 people. How many bathrooms does this house have to accommodate all these people? The noise is unbearable in the morning, please do something about this.
