SMSes for Tuesday 19 February 2013

SMS Of The Day *UNEMPLOYMENT can be reduced in Namibia if our government takes serious measures like: registering all the unemployed; holding consultative meetings with those suffering in all 13 regions; introducing unemployment tax as a special project; budgeting N$100 million for employment creation per year; providing a monthly social grant for all the unemployed; providing financial assistance to employers; training them and providing financial assistance to the unemployed who wish to start projects or businesses.

Bouquets and Brickbats
*OWNERS of backyard rooms for rent easily compare their crazy rates to bed and breakfast establishments, but fall short on basic amenities, for example – renting rooms out with broken taps, doors etc. Greed!

*IT pains me so much to hear that our children die because they can’t afford heart operations.

*I APPRECIATE the intellectual and relaxing weekly review programme ‘The Week That Was’, but hasn’t anyone notice that the first W is screwed onto the desk backwards?

*AMBIGUOUS information by Nampol. Are the police hot on the tracks of Lazarus Shaduka? They say it is just a matter of time then they will get him. Suddenly they suspect that he is hiding in Angola and have asked their counterparts and Interpol to help them to trace him. A reward of N$20 000 will be offered to anyone who gives information leading to the arrest of Lazarus Shaduka.

*GOVERNMENT runs out of cash but Nangolo Mbumba still remains in cabinet and Air Namibia has to be bailed out for the thousandth time. Where does the money come from? Please learn to prioritise, Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila!

*WE are not happy about Athletics Namibia National Championships, why do they only pay the athletes for first place, what about second and third place? This is not good for athletes.

*THANK you to MTC for attending to my SMS complaint in The Namibian last week about their 3G services in Swakopmund. They sent out their technicians, who were a great help and improved the situation considerably.

*ALBERTUS Aochamub why does National Radio get sports from the BBC? Listeners need local sports, it seems that music is more important than sports at National Radio, or don’t you have sports presenters? Please improve your programmes.

City Fathers
*CITY Police, we want to know whether the operational hours of so-called Herero Mall have been changed or what is going on? We cannot sleep anymore! The music is very loud and plays until late, as late as 22h00 on weekdays and 02h00 during weekends. We were informed that the operational time of this place is or was 07h00 to 19h00! Please help us, we need to rest and we have school kids who need to study and sleep peacefully without this noise.
– Concerned resident

*CITY of Windhoek, I am addressing this with you because I love my city. Why are you so lenient on taxi drivers and government drivers especially NDF members? We need traffic order. Just visit Tall Street, in front of the Ministry of Defence, Audi Centre, Kentucky or BH complex – any time! Sidewalks are now parking bays and business places, pedestrians have to find their way in the street which is highly dangerous. What are we waiting for, culpable homicide ?

Suggestion Box
*MINISTER of Finance, why don’t you and your team ‘’pull in’’ from your ministries or parastatals or SOEs, etc. All unspent monies, some of which has been invested over long periods and is earning huge amounts of interest. Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, think about it. It makes sense, don’t you agree?

*NBC TV, last year on ‘Open File’ you showed us that people are going to Nigeria for spiritual problems to go see Prophet TB Josua, instead of showing us too many soapies, even on Sundays. I suggest you start showing us religious activities taking place around Namibia so that our people with spiritual needs  know where to go.

*WE can export a lot zebras to Britain to boost our economy.

*PRIME Minister Hage Geingob, you need to seriously address the minute by minute constant abuse of state owned transport, at every level and in every place in Namibia! Use the youth and the unemployed to ‘Stop/Check/Record’ all offenders and fine them at a rate of N$12 to N$25 per kilometre.

*MINISTER Nahas Angula, just an idea for you in your new job and responsibilities: Please make some ‘unannounced’ visits to: army camps, offices and headquarters, stores, garages, shops, canteens, pubs, social clubs, and ‘private party rooms’! You may be shocked at our lack of readiness to be able to defend our country in times of need! Otherwise send teams to the rural areas to help communities with town rubbish cleaning and help the sick and the elderly.

Service Please
*NBC Oshiwambo service, your sound is very poor and yet you preach to us that you are a big station!

*STANDARD and FNB banks, please improve your service at Omuthiya. Get bigger places for your business and add more ATMs. We do not want to sit outside your premises, in long queues in the summer sun, waiting for three to four hours before we can get help. Live up to your slogans.

*NEW Minister of Home Affairs and your management, have you even bothered to take time to leave the luxury of your office to establish order and facilitate the smooth running of small affairs down in your halls? It’s a matter of deploying officers to run and maintain queues.

*PLEASE Minister of Namibian Defence Force, come rescue us from the arm of the Namibian army (Grootfontein Military Base). We are treated like pigs, we sleep in the barracks but those barracks have toilets which are not functional and we are there a lot of the time. We are using the bushes, which is not healthy. Please help us, we need better sanitation here.

Labour

*NANTU and Napwu, how realistic is the salary restructuring you signed last year. It will take effect from April 1, 2013 but we are yet to see how our salaries have been regraded. Or is it another of governments delay tactics on the issue of 8 percent, signed last year? I did my calculations and discovered that there is a shortage of N$3.15 on my salary. It was rather an increase of 7.97 percent and not eight percent. I am requesting my fellow civil servants to do the maths.

*PUBLIC Service Commission should come out clear on the issue of promotion in the government. We are told one cannot jump a position but Ministry of Home Affairs has promoted staff from Deputy Director to Undersecretary thus jumping directors positions, why?

*NAPWU members are you all puppets manipulated by Petrus Nevonga? When he says jump, you ask how high? When will you raise your concerns on salaries and benefits? Stop riding on teachers’ backs and fight your own battles. Is Petrus Nevonga king in the land of fools? What is there to smile about Nevonga’s performance as a leader? Stand up for your rights!

*I WANT to know why we have labour inspectors in our country. I completely don’t understand the aim and work of these people especially here in Swakopmund. Please guys, pull up your socks.

*WE are still waiting for the increment of the home owner’s scheme for staff members for implementation which was already approved in November 2012 but is still not on the system of the ministries. How long will it take?

Politics

*HAS Barack Obama forgotten Africa? Barack Obama is an American president and African countries have their own presidents. Period!

In and From the Region
*NAMWATER is very slow in connecting water in the Ongandjera district; we applied for the water and paid but we still wait for a long time for clean water. How pathetic!

*CAN our president please help us residents in the north who are supposed to be supplied with electricity by Nored. Our electricity always goes off every second day with notices are made only on Oshiwambo radio. No need to rush home after work for TV or food. Please help us.

In and From the Regions
*MTC at Outapi please empower your network because the Olukekete, Omikwayanghwii, Okahwakaamayau and Omufituweelo residents are struggling for network even though its only 13 kilometres from town. Sometimes we even receive network from Omahene.
