SMSes for Friday February 2013

SMS Of The Day *WHY do all those who complain about the road construction in Khomasdal always demand more roads? Why does nobody demand better public transport?

Food for Thought
*SWAPO flag vs Namibian flag. Why can’t we display the Namibian flag on our car dashboards and houses like we do with the Swapo one? Angola, Zambia and Botswana like stickers of their national flags on their cars. With a national flag on your car dashboard, people will think you are from the opposition party and will not give you a job. Let the Swapo flag not be used by lions in sheep’s skin.

Bouquets and Brickbats
*NBC, why was the launch of Oranjemund Community Radio not aired properly? Why send a news crew and then not show decent pictures?

*MOOLA Mobile should stop their nonsense. Their repeating of self praise and boasting is boring. We send SMSes wanting to know how much we can win and nothing else!

*AT last there seems to be openess and transparency on Air Namibia’s current situation. To the new chairman Harald Schmidt, please rescue our national airline, 81 000 jobs in tourism depend on it.

*THE policemen who manned the Windhoek-Okahandja roadblock on the afternoon of February 12 are the most professional I have ever seen in my 35 years on this planet. Firm but courteous and thoroughly professional. I’ve never been happier to receive a ticket in my life! Those from other countries should learn from these gentlemen!

*ARE our parliamentarians barred from talking to us via the radio, especially Damara/Nama service? One hardly hears them talking to their electorate, but come  election year, then they come and kneel down to be voted into power. Thanks to President Hifikepunye Pohamba’s address during the opening of the Parliament.

Suggestion Box
*TO solve the mess of some parastatals, marry Air Namibia, NAC, and TransNamib to reduce expenses.

Service Please

*SEBASTIAN Ndeitunga, we are tired of being given classes of basic and advanced investigation courses by unqualified instructors with the same knowledge as us. Every year, police officers are graduating from Unam in the field of law and leaving the force. Why not turn them into instructors? How long will we have unqualified instructors? Why do we have an HR department if we can’t retain skilled members? Let’s move with the times because it’s now 23 years after independence!
– Concerned police officer.

*POLYTECH, when are we getting our loan refunds? Some of us claimed last year and we still haven’t received anything. We were told to reclaim this year but up to now, there is no sign of being refunded. We want our money please! By next week you should be done refunding us!

*UNAM Oshakati Campus, please put your house in order. It is very chaotic during  registration. People at reception lack information, they can give you different explanations. The managers do not want to speak to their clients, they only refer you back to the receptionist. They deny us education opportunities which are a right for every Namibian child. Please investigate.

*OLD Mutual Client services are very poor. You sit there for hours. There are about 12 tellers but only two are being used. Your staff do not care about us.

*TELECOM Namibia, I’m an ADSL subscriber in Otavi and the internet has been off since Sunday without any explanation. This is not the first time. Please do something.

*I’M worried about NBC who are collecting money from the nation to make a profit. Imagine, Tsandi Constituency in Omusati Region has no TV signal since last week.

*CITY of Windhoek, Katutura Customer Care Centre, where are the flags? Were they not supposed to be flying high every working day? No wonder they call it ‘Katutura Office’.

City Fathers
*OFFER to purchase vacant land by City of Windhoek. It’s going to be five months now that we have been waiting for the results. What’s going on? What is the problem that results aren’t out until now? We want to know so that we can try other means. Please hear our cry! This is not fair at all. Is there someone sitting on the results?

*CITY of Windhoek, please visit Kawazaki Street in Otjomuise and see how dirty it is. It looks like a dustbin. Please do your job.

*I WANT the City of Windhoek to explain if the same law that results in one getting a fine if you park on a pavement in town (CBD) applies to residential areas. Because I don’t see any person being fined for parking on the pavement in the residential area.

Education
*DAVID Namwandi, please intervene at Eros Primary School where parents are enticed and convinced by the school management to sign that they have volunteered to pay the SDF (now named the Eros Fund). Not all parents are happy and we are not enjoying free education at all. We are still paying school fees as usual. Please Minister, intervene, intervene and intervene!

*A PUPIL at Ntuli Junior Secondary School in Oshana Region survived being chased away from school for the 2013 academic year because parents could not afford bazaar tickets in 2012. Director of Education in Oshana Region, do something!

*CJ Brand High School, Grade 8 pupils do not have Mathematics and English teachers up to now. David Namwandi, please do something.

Response to Previous SMSes
*TO the sender of the SMS who was in a car accident on the road to Epupa, how is it Richard Kamwi’s fault that the ambulance only arrived hours later and you are requesting the Minister to pull up his socks? Honestly, sometimes we as the general public should be considerate and get our facts straight before pointing fingers at our leaders! There are people working in that region to provide those services to you. Help the Minister to get the staff to do their work.

*I WOULD like to respond to the SMS asking for money back for the last 22 years. We just want, want, and want, at least be thankful there is free education now!

Politics

*THE Ambassador of Germany should not take Namibians for granted! The genocide did happen! The German government apologised and compensated the Jewish people, the same should be done for us!

*IT has been 108 years since the genocide! Our forefathers made sure that we don’t forget that, we are also making sure that our children and their children won’t forget what the Germans did to us! Germany, this issue will never die and you can not wish it away either.

*DID Onno Huckmann ‘threaten’ the Prime Minister in a diplomatic way?

In and from the Regions
*AS a Karas resident, I really do not understand why Karas is still under-developed up to now. Can anyone give me an answer? Can the banks please open branches in the whole country. We also need bank loans here. People want to create jobs and now you want to stop them. Please PM, look into the matter and start giving loans please.
– Concerned community.

*RUNDU, the Wimpy taxi rank is a disgrace. There is no order any more. Please NamPol, look in on this. I witnessed a bus driver being beaten by the the so called ‘zula boys’. These boys are now stealing people’s belongings.

*APARTHEID still exists in Kamanjab. Fellow Namibians, it’s with great shock to enter one of Kamanjab’s supermarkets and be told to leave my handbag at the teller as it’s apparently a new rule for blacks to leave their bags at the teller before entering their shop. On the other side, white women are allowed to enter the shop without leaving their handbags at the teller. I’m wondering in which Namibia we are living.

*EENHANA Councillor, we need electricity at Onamugolo Centre. Remember, elections will come again my dear.

*THERE is no fairness in Daures Constituency. If Okamapuku Village can be provided with electricity, why not Ondjombo Village? Those power lines pass through the same villages equally.
