Food For Thought
*LET big companies like MTC, Telecom, Leo, Coca Cola, banks etc in Namibia provide loans to lower income groups to build houses even with one bedroom. At least lend them N$20 000 up to N$25 000. We have been crying, but government is not listening.
Bouquets And Brickbats
*“JOIN Swapo for development”. Those were the words of the Swapo vice president, Hage Geingob. Is it true that Namibia is ours irrespective of which political party you are affiliated to?
*MINISTER of Safety and Security, how can poor constables keep on renting houses and flats, while the warrant officers, inspectors and chiefs are living in police barracks? Please, inspector general and minister of safety help the poor constables, especially in Windhoek. Poor constables are suffering.
*REMEMBER: The last Swapo star rally before independence was in Khorixas. I was there as a young Zimbabwean lady. The memory of that rally rings fresh in my mind and sight.
*THERE is no one, I mean nobody who does not look forward to his/her graduation. Therefore, we are disappointed with the management of IUM. To hear that there will be no graduation ceremony taking place this year is indeed disappointing. We demand an explanation.
*NAMIBIA Statistics Agency (NSA). Can you please give us clarity on the issue of our salaries being cut in half after eight years of service. ACC, please intervene. If we try to find out we are told to go to the director who does not have respect for the staff. Concerned staff member.
*THE staff members at National Disability Council are very tired and can’t encourage and help deaf people. We applied for employment at the council but are still waiting for the replies. It’s taking a very long time now. I am sure that there is discrimination going on.
*DO pharmacies know that cough syrup is the most abused drug? These days people are using it as a boosting medicine.
*FOR goodness sake. Who did the dressing job for poor Maria Nepembe? Cheap, sticky plastic dress that she was wearing and she kept on pulling it down the whole night. Not to mention the make up. Get a certified make-up artist to do proper stage make-up, because make up artists know the effect of different lights. She looked tired and her skin looked dull. Make-up artists did not go to college for nothing.
*CAN someone please tell us if artists are allowed to vote for themselves and if so, why?
*WAS the award not for violence against women? It’s sad that someone with a reputation with women wins big. What does that tell the nation?
*NAMIBIA will be a better place if the current government resigns before the next election. Everything is falling apart after only 23 years. We need vibrant and new people that can lead our country. We have had enough of talking and empty promises. This is where it stops. We can’t go on like this. We need real and caring leaders.
*THANKS Gazza and The Dogg. A first friend that you meet is a real friend because you did not try to impress him but he was only impressed by your humanity. So, enjoy your old friendship that started while you were infants in the music industry. No matter what the people say. Thumbs up to you, let the ball roll on.
*BIG thumbs up to Gazza and The Dogg for their collaboration. Gazza, you indeed lived up to your status as the Unicef Ambassador and The Dogg you’re a peace lover. Great job guys. Namibia is proud of you. Never under-estimate the impact your performance will have socially, politically and nationally.
*WHY should the government buy two Mercedes Benz cars for ministers? Why don’t they get car allowance to buy cars of their choice for themselves.
*THANKS for planting indigenous trees at Hosea Kutako International Airport. That’s a good example to be followed.
*I WAS scared that Radio Energy had won the MTC tender to be the MCs at the NAMAs every year and was glad to see they did not make it this time around.
*PRIME Minister, it is almost time that you become the president of this country. Be ready to lead this nation and bring necessary change to Namibia. Make sure that unemployment is totally eradicated in the country. Corruption must be our enemy number one. We want to be happy in our country.
*WHAT are the real problems in Namibia? There are so many issues people are complaining about, but it seems that all complaints fall on deaf ears. Does it mean that our cries are not making any impact?
*NBC’s ‘Soccer Pitch’, why don’t you give us the first division results and log standings? Is your programme only for NPL and games that are played abroad? -First division fan
*THANK you very much, Charles Siyauya for talking about vital points affecting our uniformed members, the NDF and NamPol. Members of the force do not have representatives to speak on their behalf, as they are not allowed to demonstrate or strike. We need people like you to speak for us.
* I FEEL sorry for people who still don’t understand and are fooling themselves by thinking that IUM only admits students with low points. Some of us might even have more points than those who are complaining. Don’t be confused. There is a difference between the IUM of today and the one you knew.
*I AM curious to know how much the construction of the road-centre island in Sam Nujoma Avenue at Schoemans have cost the taxpayers. It was a useless effort since 4x4 drivers are going over it as if it wasn’t there at all. This is hardly surprising since about 80% of drivers in Namibia should not even have a driving license. These people post a danger to other road-users and should be fined to the maximum. But expecting authorities to do anything is like expecting fish to fly.
*IS the statement which appeared in Monday’s edition of this newspaper attributed to Prime Minister Hage Geingob? Saying, that a region will only be developed if the people of that region are Swapo members? It sounds like the rhetoric of “do not give water and do not give food to those who don’t belong to Swapo”. It is shameful for a person who is the preferred candidate for presidential position. Is he fit to be a national leader?
*I WAS shocked to hear that The Dogg and Mushe had admitted to the allegation that they sent SMSes from other people’s phones to vote for themselves. It means they are not the people’s choice. That’s called cheating.
*NAMAs had shortcomings, but those mistakes were not intentional. I would not only criticise, but rather advise as follows; presenters must have written small notes and there must always be background music. The presenters can announce the winners, if possible. Make it simple.
*BE realistic before sending SMSes (referring to the SMS on 22 April). ‘Struggle children’ did not just wake up and make demands from government, but they are making demands after numerous unrealistic promises were made to them. Put yourself in their shoes and think what you would have done after such a long time of waiting. Their defying of the court order is a question that needs an answer from those who created the mistrust in the minds of those children.
*ON Friday it was reported that Members of Parliament demanded better status and more money. On Monday it was reported that the Parliament session on Friday was cancelled because there was no quorum, as MPs were chatting outside. MPs should do their job first before asking for more money. The Namibian should publish statistics on the presence of MPs in the National Assembly.
*SANDY Rudd, Meme Mia was just great! Is it recorded? I will not mind buying a copy. Thanks for all your efforts.
*I AM a soldier working at Suiderhof base. My office is 15 metres from where I sleep. So, I am asking the minister to remove transport from my pay slip as it was done with the housing allowance.
*IT is a blatant lie that members of RDP had joined Swapo at Khorixas during the 53th Swapo anniversary. That is cheap political campaign.
*MINISTER of Home Affairs, can you please instruct the responsible official(s) in your ministry to update the application forms so that the documents to be submitted with a specific application are clearly stated on the application form. It is a waste of valuable time to stand for hours in queues, just to be told by the official behind the counter that specific documents (not stated on the application form) are missing. Please act! We need service.
