Food For Thought
*WHAT happened at the Oshakati hospital maternity ward shocked the nation. Nurses are always frustrated when they are on duty. We don’t know why. We visit the hospital to get assisted by nurses but all they do is harass us. What must we do now? We are scared to get pregnant because we end up suffering during delivery time.
*SOMEONE needs to save the lives of patients who are being treated at the Katutura State Hospital’s orthopeadic outpatient department. Doctors at the hospital don’t seem to know what they are doing. The bones of the people are disfigured after receiving so-called treatment. Patients are not allowed to ask anything. The doctors claim not have caused any fracture or problem. Investigations should be launched at the department. The department does not want to take responsibility for their actions.
Bouquets And Brickbats
*V125 taxi driver makes me proud. One would see from a distance that it is a taxi but the driver’s behaviour cannot be compared to other taxi drivers. It’s outstanding and I would suggest that others follow his example.
*THE invitation by the Ministry of Lands for tenders to remove the illegal fencing in the Kavango Region should also include the removal of illegal fences at Omutsegwondjamba in Omuthiya. It has become a property of a certain person, which has enclosed a large communal land in Okashana. The fact that illegal fencing has extended deep into Okashana is disturbing. Other land users are not taken into consideration and it is to the detriment of community members whose animals have no grazing land as a result. This fence must be removed as a matter of urgency. Let justice prevail. Period.
Red Line
*There are a lot of wild animals (beasts) beyond the RedLine. They apparently carry food and mouth disease. Why don’t the people in those areas contract the virus. The EU is imposing hash restrictions on Namibia. Why?
Crime
*FELLOW Namibians, let us take the message of Superintend Helena Mootseng seriously. Drink and drive is a serious matter. It kills people.
*THE Namibian Police is failing women. There is definitely a serial rapist going around in Katutura residential areas, who rapes and kills women. Lieutenant General Sebastian Ndeitunga has blatantly failed us, while he is looking at miniskirts and not arresting the criminals. Should we hire FBI to get the useless criminals that are playing hide and seek with the police?
*MINISTER of Safety and Security, the recent introduction of high traffic fines is promoting corruption among traffic officers because they demand half of the fine, and if you refuse to pay the bribe money you are in trouble. They simply slap you with a fine and the period to pay is very short. Therefore, introduce the same system as in South Africa, which doesn’t allow interaction between drivers and traffic officers on the spot. The ACC must dedicate its officials to trap these traffic officers, because they are destroying our country with their corrupt mentality. They abuse government resources for their personal gain.
*THE owner of N106103W must be very proud and intelligent for letting his passengers throw out all the crap out of his car into the bush. He is really a disgrace.
– Martin, Acacia.
Justice for All
*THE Namibian Police in Katima Mulilo are harassing street vendors, while the criminals are roaming around freely.
*INNOCENT young and energetic girl was raped and killed while fast asleep in her shack. This is a wake up call to all politicians, and the government to build low cost houses for the poor citizens, so that people can be secured in their houses.
*DEPUTY Minister Willem Isaack must please retire and go to Berseba where he can take a rest for his entire life.
*HOW irresponsible is Deputy Minister Willem Isaaks? He damaged and destroyed a second car in less than a year after the first one killed an innocent child.
*TSUDAO Gurirab should not worry about his drunken driving charge. If my memory serves me well, the politically connected people are never called to answer to this particular charge. They don’t even bother to go to court.
*WHY do traffic officers always hide on public roads when they want to hunt down speed offenders. They are doing their job. I think, it’s sometimes risky for them because the road users may not see them. They, all of a sudden, appear from behind the bush, instructing the driver to stop. The driver may not react speedily and can cause accident. We know that they are on the roads for our protection but I don’t think hiding behind bushes is good.
*THE Zimbabwean Ambassador to Namibia, Chipo Zindoga, please help your fellow Zimbabweans by bringing back business/selling visas. We are being arrested by Namibian law enforcement agents because we are selling our products without visas. We are charged and imprisoned and our products are also confiscated for not having declaration papers because we are not allowed to declare them at the borders as we cannot produce visas. Many Zimbabweans are in prisons around Namibia for conducting business without visas. All Zimbabweans coming to Namibia are not tourists but they come to earn money to support their families and make a living. I hope you will take this issue seriously.
Education
*THE Minister of Education, David Namwandi has a long standing issue with the Polytechnic of Namibia. The government must therefore monitor his actions carefully. He may also try to impede the smooth transformation of the institution.
*MWESHIPANDEKA High School: Why are the pupils sleeping on the floor in storerooms? It looks weird for high school pupils to sleep on a floor. Government provide beds to Mweshipandeka High School.
*POLYTECHNIC of Namibia should address absenteeism of the part-time and distance lecturers as a matter of urgency. They waste our time and resources when they don’t show up for classes. This is a serious matter.
*CAN we also receive our payslips on time in Caprivi. We, the teachers in Caprivi get our payslips after a month or two.
– Concerned teacher.
Health
*I have a problem with the fact that a baby died at Oshakati State Hospital due to negligence on the part of nurses. Please President Hifikepunye Pohamba, remove minister Richard Kamwi. We are all going to die because the minister cannot do his job properly. He cannot even manage his staff. Give him a much smaller ministry that he can manage.
*MINISTER Richard Kamwi, you’d better take serious steps against your nurses who are killing babies or ship them out at once. We are paying large sums of tax. That’s for a purpose, not for you and your nurses to play mickey mouse games with people’s lives.
*I LOST my baby boy who was supposed to be born on 20 March 2013. My wife was at hospital for more than five hours without being attended to by doctors and nurses. The baby died in her womb. The doctor examined her later and transferred her to the Rundu State Hospital where she was operated. This happened at Andara Catholic Hospital. Doctors and nurses did not do their work. The Ministry of Health must do something to solve this problem.
Sport
*OTJOZONDUPA used a coach from Rundu. I want him to come to Khomas. He is good.
*THANKS to The Namibian newspaper for the Cup matches in Otjiwarongo that rightly illustrated the flamboyant legacy of the late governor, Rapama Kamehozu. It is indeed a befitting farewell to a great man and son of the soil. The best team has won, which was indeed the late Governor’s team. The sport should unify us as a nation in sorrow.
*BARRY Rukoro and John Muinjo should get their house in order. Let’s not wait for the start-up capital of the first division teams. We want the money before the start of second division.
*THE Otjiwarongo Municipality should stop with corrupt practices, nepotism and favouritism. The best food stands at the recent The Namibian Newspaper Cup were allocated to family and friends. Next time, give the poor SME’s a fair change. Shame on you.
*THE NFA must put a life ban on the people who were responsible for cheating during last weekend’s The Namibian Newspaper Cup tournament. Their actions can be compared to match fixing.
