Food For Thought
*WE teachers would like to know why colleagues who get transferred to their hometowns get government flats, whilst they rent out their houses? We have to rent places and move from one place to another, putting our careers at risk by coming late to work due to heavy traffic and we barely make it through the month with the little we earn.
Bouquets And Brickbats
*IF a person has killed someone, he/she must also face the same fate. In that way the killer will no longer be in the prison system and nobody will ever again fall victim, and the Namibian nation will be safe. Please, introduce the death penalty by changing the Constitution. We are really tired of losing our loved ones for nothing. It takes so many years and money to raise a child with the hope that he/she will one day be supporting you.
*TAXIS, what happened to the new taxi lights? Let the taxis be forced to put them on, because we cannot differentiate them from private cars when it is dark.
– Nangolo
*THE entire nation, including the civic organisations, academics, the law fraternity, the youth and the churches have a duty to enquire about the level of tribalism, nepotism, favouritism and regionalism in the NamPol force and NDF, and try to normalise the situation. If not, the men in uniform will not get respect from society when the situation gets out of hand.
*WE are the children who carried the flame (we struggled). We were born in Namibia and stayed here. We were not controlled by the apartheid government. We were kicked and beaten with iikulumbwati. The struggle kids are not special at all.
*TEACHERS open your eyes and your minds. Do not sleep but be on alert. Let them do what they want. Be ready, because we are at war with the Ministry of Education. And that’s around the corner. Be on the alert, all of you.
*I WOULD like to thank President Hifikepunye Pohambo for appointing Reverend Samuel Kaveto Mbambo as Governor of Kavango Region. He is a neutral person who did not even campaign for a position. Congratulations Reverend Mbambo.
*THE media is giving the struggle kids just what they want, free publicity. Stop publishing anything they say or do and just watch how they will fade away.
*NAMAs organisers, it is good that you accepted the blunders and flops. Please burn the DVD. Never show it anywhere. It is embarrassing.
*HIRING a South African company to organise the NAMAs was a bad decision. We have companies who do sound and lighting in Namibia, especially the one that was involved in last year’s show. Until when are we going to depend on South Africa? More money goes to South Africa. We have local companies and I thought local is lekker.
*THANK you Gazza and The Dogg for sharing the stage and showing respect to your fans. Well done. I hope you did that from the depth of your hearts.
*NANTU leadership is crazy. N$50 per month by a teacher for 30 years and they pay N$1 500 on retirement. Forget about my contribution guys. I’m going to cancel my membership.
*NO, you got it wrong police officer. NDF means Namibian Defence Force. Our Constitutional obligation is to defend the territorial integrity of the land of the brave, including you, police officer.
*CAN somebody help out? Is it allowed for the principals to be given petrol money from the school’s coffer whenever they go to the circuit offices, or to deposit school development funds?
*WHAT’S the point of having government medical aid scheme when most (if not all) of the specialist doctors don’t accept it.
*PEOPLE of Namibia, please grow up and leave prophet Elizabeth alone. Mind your own business, please.
*I WANT to tell people who call themselves believers one thing. What you are doing to prophet Elizabeth is called blasphemy against the spirit of God. What if she is a true prophet of God? The Bible says “You will never be forgiven” and if you were the real Christian, pastor or prophet you will not condemn her. If she is fake go to her church and deliver her.
*WHAT important massage does the music of Mushe have that other artists don’t? His music lacks substance and weight, in my opinion. You are only as good as your last song. Look at Angeline Kidjo, Salif Kaita, Meriam Makeba or Letta Mbulu. I could not understand any of the words in their music but I could dance to it. They were the best.
*I HAVE never seen a picture of a developed Namibia in my mind until yesterday when I read a book titled ‘My Manifesto’ by JT Namwandi. It’s true our leaders are too old and too rich to know the needs of our people. Our politicians must get advice from the author.
*SOMEONE congratulated Namibian women for speaking better English than their male counterparts. How does that affect the price of bread? Emancipate yourself from mental slavery. The content of your speech matters more than how eloquent you are in a foreign language. Hopefully you speak your mother tongue just as good. Proud African, with English as a second language.
*THE main entrance of Windhoek Central Prison: I visited inmates at this institution several times and I am satisfied with the way some officers treat and assist the visitors, especially Uncle Sugar. Your customer service is excellent and I want all other officers to emulate your example. Keep it up Uncle Sugar.
*THE Director of Education in the Ohangwena Region, Sanet Steenkamp (Adult Literacy), how come literacy promoters did not get their salaries for January and April 2013? Your district literacy officers said the government did not give enough money for all the promoters in Ohangwena Region, but what is amusing is that they do all their meetings and interviews at hotels. Please, we want our salaries on time.
– Angry Literacy Promoters, Ohangwena
*I WONDER whether Nabta is aware of the struggle and hardships facing the (sedan taxi) drivers across the country. Currently they are being intimidated and victimised by law enforcement agents and town councils. They need to be recognised, legalised and assisted. They are providing a service to their communities and are contributing to the national economy.
*IT must be obvious to all Namibians that the entire leadership in government is not fit to lead. The majority of Namibians are suffering while millions of dollars are being wasted on a daily basis. Please, stop the rot and implement the Basic Income Grant scheme and increase the pathetic payments of the pensioners.
*FRANS Kapofi and his group are hard at work to bring strikes to Namibia. Why do they delay paying out the money owed to employees? Be an example to other countries. You are comfortable and sleep well whereas police officers and soldiers are suffering. You are safe because of the police and NDF. The President is working hard but some people in government are lying to us. We are tired. Please do something.
*THE Permanent Secretary of Works and Transport, could you please tell the Namibian nation about the funny deal in your ministry. Who is running the Directorate of Civil Aviation? A certain group of people or a clique in this directorate is involved in underhand deals. They forward documents to high authorities without the knowledge of your office. Shame. Who is accountable for the mess? Inspectors at DCA are experiencing problems and safety is being compromised. Please act before it is too late.
*CONGRATULATIONS Tjipekapora Herunga. You are a true Namibian hero. Go girl! From your former teacher at Ella du Plessis Secondary School.
*I DISAGREE with the SMS regarding the struggle kids to be fit for jobs in NDF. Mind you, the NDF is there to oversee the security of the entire country. Indisciplined people can’t fit in the NDF. It would be impossible for the NDF to accomplish its mandate.
*I WOULD like to state categorically clear and with enough proof that Olthaver & List is not the best company to work for. People in Namibia who think Olthaver & List is the best company must be out of their minds, especially those at Pick n Pay. I will write an article stating why they do not deserve those prizes.
*TYPICAL selection process for presenters at NAMAs on Friday. Tim: “Hey Koos, what are you doing on Saturday, will you be busy?” Koos: “No, not at all, why?” Tim: “I would love you to present the award for Best Kwaito category, my broer pls. You are familiar with Kwaito right?” Koos: “Not a clue, but I need the publicity... thanks Tim”. Tim: “Ok boss see you tomorrow so we can annoy some Namibians with the best ever NAMAs.” I rest my case.
Service Please
*A CAR accident and five people lost their lives because a wheel fell off. The car is a Volkswagen. Is it not an issue for VW Namibia to inform VW owners to bring in their cars for a check up. Is it not something to worry about?
*SUPERTRONIX in Wernhill Park, please change your attitude towards your customers. Your customer service is too poor.
Labour
*WALVIS BAY’s manager complains about staff taking their annual leave. He wants them to take it on his terms, but he takes leave anytime he want to. He makes the workers to work on public holidays and people do his work for him. Anyone out there please help.
*I SUPPORT the SMS complaining about the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) that appeared in The Namibian recently. Why is this agency recruiting people on contract? All contract staff at NSA must be appointed permanently. Board of directors approved the structure last year and everyone at CBS was included. Then everything changed and they decided to recruit their favourites. Most positions are currently frozen. How can a newly established agency be so corrupt. Tom Alweendo, can you please solve the problem of “contract employees” since you are the Director General of National Planning Commission or ACC must act quickly.
Education
*I WOULD like to hear from the Minister and Permanent Secretary of Education when they are going to release the list of successful candidates who applied for government scholarships? We are going to start our classes next month but nothing has been done so far. Please we need feedback from the Ministry of Education.
*CAN Unam tell us why the lecturer for Human Resources comes only once (part time students) in a week to lecture?
*MINISTER of Education, we are still confused. Were the Grade 12 exam papers marked fairly? It’s so hard to believe.
*WELL done Omaheke Education Authority for your response to the plight of Donkerbos Primary School. It shows the government is working for its people.
Health
*THE Ministry of Health and Social Services does not care about student nurses who have reapplied. The ministry does not even talk about it. The Permanent Secretary does not know anything but wants the students to reapply. Why?
*I CAN’T believe that the Minister of Health has cancelled the training programme for nursing diplomas but wants the students to reapply. Our children don’t qualify. What now?
*THE MINISTER of Health does not even make provision for the people who previously applied for the diploma programme but wants them to reapply. How much money should the children waste again? Our parents have paid too much already.
*MINISTER of Health, what should the students do with the textbooks, uniforms, stethoscopes and thermometers which they acquired? All these items cost them almost N$6 000.
In And From The Regions
*THE proposal to turn Oshikoto Region into a tribal kingdom is a stupid and laughable idea that needs to be rejected totally.
*CHIEF Inspector Shivolo in Oshakati, can you tell me if the suspects in your holding cells have the right to get newspapers from their families? If yes, tell officers who work in the charge office to allow families to give newspapers to the suspects.
Lost And Found
*I, TSHITOKO Frans, lost my wallet with all of my documents and my shoe bag in Ondangwa. If found, please contact me at 0818743447.
*MY name is Constance. I forgot my blanket which I have just bought in the taxi last Saturday. I took a taxi from nurses home to Khomasdal. Please contact me at 0813509377.
