Bouquets And Brickbats
*THE incompetence of the staff of Nedbank Wernhill Park branch is pathetic. Telephones are never picked up and service is non-existent.
*NO one will attend the NAMAs show. I think we need to work together, so we can help our talented artists who were not nominated. They deserved to be nominated. I will never attend their show.

*‘STRUGGLE children’ should join Women and Men Network because their parents went willingly into exile. I guess they were also not paid to free Namibia.
*FRANS Kapofi’s defence of the purchasing of Mercedes Benzes is not an excuse at all. Expensive cars such as Mercedes Benzes are not used for public office bearers in many countries where governments care for their people. Even if the purchase was already in the pipeline given the current situation and the prevailing poverty and unemployment they could have cancelled the deal. Please stop fooling the masses. After all, they will stand up one day.
*IT was really good to see our leaders defending the national budget, especially the uniformed personnel. What I want to put to the attention of our leaders is that promotions do not affect everyone in the force. The best way is to reconsider the process of regrading apart from the current one of the Office of the Prime Minister. That’s the only way that will bring real change to the lives of civil servants.
*THE President is always preaching the fight against corruption but there is no change taking place. He is allowing that the cars be bought for ministers. Is that not corruption? The ministers must buy cars for themselves because they are earning huge salaries.
*MINISTER of Veterans Affairs, we are very old. We don’t have the energy to go ahead with the projects you want us to embark upon.
*I WAS shocked to see a person who failed Grade 10 employed at one of the banks in Namibia. I completed matric with good marks but cannot get a job. How does it work? We live in a world of corruption. You either have to sleep with the HR manager or you must know people who work there. This is unfair Namibia.
*HAVING read the comments about cellphones at schools I again and again realised the destruction they are causing in education. Learners must demonstrate at schools and demand the removal of teachers who are addicted to cellphones. The other evil is the newspaper readers while learners have to ‘keep yourself busy’. Minister David Namwandi please curb the scourge.
*SWAPO government is indeed opening the eyes of the Namibian people. The people know where to vote in future. Thank you for that.
*LEAVE Kazenambo Kazenambo alone. He speaks his mind at least. Half of the MPs are just there to debate and fight for their Mercedes Benzes and don’t have the nation’s interest at heart.
*I WAS shocked to see children drinking expired Heineken beer from the dumpsite at Macravn location in Katima Mulilo. Please destroy or burn the expired stuff to avoid death or sickness.
*DEPUTY Mayor of the City of Windhoek, long live and may God bless you. You have proved yourself to this great nation that you have been voted in by the people to represent them. Thank you very much for keeping the police on hold from evicting the poor woman. Thank you my brother for your leadership. It is worth emulating.
*THE renting of houses or flats is exorbitant in Windhoek. The government should help by coming up with rules to stop the rot. The people who rent out flats and rooms and houses in Windhoek take advantage and ask too much money.
*TO all Namibians remember crime will never reduce if NamPol and Intelligence fail to arrest Lazarus Shaduka. Just imagine if Namibia had 65 Shadukas how long would it have taken to catch them and the police would have offered a reward of N$13 million, which is more than the Namibian population itself. The entire country will collapse because of hunger and poverty. From a shocked nurse.
*WE need a government that will make us proud, not the one that angers people because they eat up all the money.
*I THINK ‘Prophet’ Elizabeth Sakaria is now running out of tricks. It is pathetic to see people falling prey to such cheap tactics and I don’t know why everyone is flocking to every nutcase who claims to have seen a vision. Please read your Bible! Jeremiah 14:14, Ezekiel 13:6 and Mathew 24:24. The Bible is complete.
*IT is very sad to hear news about new Mercedes Benzes for ministers while Havana Number 1 and other squatters in Windhoek, where the majority of voters for the ruling party, are still living without electricity and toilets. Residents have to endure dusty roads and substandard houses. Where is Namibia heading?
*PEOPLE are more concerned about farmers getting free fodder for their livestock but they forget that there are thousands of Namibians who live in extreme poverty. Those animals are the wealth of individuals. Let them make a plan. Government is for the poor masses.
*GENERAL Sebastiaan Ndeitunga, tell the nation about the measures you have taken regarding the naked senior officer who was caught with another man’s wife?
*MOST recently the President appointed a commission of inquiry to look into the state of affairs of our health facilities and the commission completed the report which has been released. What happened to the commission that was appointed to look into the affairs of NamPol and NDF? Men in uniform are suffering. It is a serious matter.
*IT is in the best interest of the public that the Inspector General of the Namibian Police to denies that there is tribalism, nepotism, favouritism and regionalism in the Police Force. He must further tell the nation what is his plan to addressed these evils before it is too late.
*WHEN are government schools officially closing for the current trimester? Some learners are already at home. Is it normal?
*TO the local newspapers we are tired of seeing only Oshivambo language in the newspapers. Why is the news not published in other indigenous languages? Has Oshivambo become an official language or what? Is this equal treatment in an independence Namibia?
*M&Z Motors is a monopoly and gets millions of dollars in tenders from government but the employees are paid poorly and every year the annual increment is just six percent. And all managerial posts are held by the previously advantaged. Another dragon from the wrong era.
n PRIME Minister, are the children of ministers entitled to be transported to and from schools in government cars? ACC must investigate this matter. Staff members cannot do their work better even if there is no cars. why are seven cars allocated to the minister’s office? This is happening in the ministry of local government.
*UNEMPLOYMENT is rife within the graduated vocational trainees, especially plumbers and pipe-fitters. Can the ministries of education and health answer the call of Minister Erkki Nghimtina to come up with solutions? There are maintenance units since the two ministries are the most used by public in the country.
*OUR children are constantly asking for money to buy either a hot dog or any other thing sold at the school by teachers. Is it a way of fundraising or a personal business and why should it be done every week or second week at Flamingo Primary School?
– Concerned parent from Erongo Region
*DEAR Editor, I would like to air my displeasure with the 2013 NAMA awards. Out of 11 NAMA judges only two are women. Does it mean that women are inferior or does it mean that they cannot be good judges? Do we really need to enact laws to force organisations to implement principles of equal rights and gender balance?
*THE Namibian law makers are obviously not aware of how much the Mercedes Benz story is discussed everywhere. If you are rich and fat you get a Mercedes Benz. If you are poor you get a much cheaper car.
SMS responses from ministry of health
SMS
*Minister Richard Kamwi, just admit that there is a mess at the Ministry of Health. We want to see change in the ministry. There is a lack of managers who can do the work. If this was not Africa, heads would have rolled at your ministry. You are the captain of the ship that is sinking.
Response:
The Ministry of Health and Social Services reaffirms its mandate to provide quality and affordable health and social services. We call upon the public for their support while we work around the clock to improve all public health services countrywide. While the task remains huge the ministry, together with our stakeholders, urges the public to contribute positively towards building and rehabilitating the health sector.
SMS
*Why are you bringing the patient today? Why didn’t you bring him/her yesterday (Friday) these were the words of one of our senior nurses at ICU Windhoek Central Hospital to myself and the transporting paramedics? Instead of asking how the patient is doing she goes on to ask how long has the patient stayed in the ICU of another hospital and why we decided to bring the patient during the weekend?
Response:
The Ministry has taken note of your complaint and promises to attend to it without delay through the relevant management structure. Please be informed that the ministry is currently putting up mechanisms to ensure that all unprofessional health workers are identified and dealt with accordingly.
Yours sincerely,
Public Relations Office

Damara Unity Conference
*THE so-called ‘Damara Chiefs’, who are you leading if you do not want to listen to your subjects? Why are you not attending the unity meeting in Okahandja? Remember some of you are not even elected to be the kings. It’s easy to get rid of you. Leaders are there to lead and listen and not divide their subjects.
*SHAME on you the ‘kama kastige’ Chief /Gaseb. Who are you to tell us not to attend the Damara conference? We don’t know you. Where have you been all these years. Viva Damara Unity Initiative!
*AG tog Chief /Gaseb who cares if you don’t give your blessings to the upcoming Damara conference?
Suggestion Box
*MINISTRY of Veterans Affairs, please hand out the N$200 000 meant for projects to the elderly veterans and those that are disabled. They are not able to start with projects but they are starving.
*DO not criticise in a vacuum rather compare the ministry? Which ministry is better run and effective than that of Minister Richard Kamwi? Get similar reports from other ministries and compare them to that of the Ministry of Health. Let us be objective and not subjective fellow Namibians. Leave Minister Richard Kamwi alone. Vakuetu! Hekee.
Service Please
*COUNTER number seven at Home Affairs: The lady who is working at the counter goes to the back and remains there for 30 to 40 minutes after helping every client. Minister Iivula-Ithana the staff at Home Affairs must treat us with respect.
*ABOUT the Kudos to Sardinia. That was obviously sent by their owners. Their food is lousy and overpriced.
*MINISTRY of Home Affairs please write the necessary information on birth certificates in capital letters when filling in forms. One can hardly read the name and surname.
Labour
*GOVERNMENT needs to work on the salaries of farm workers. They do multiple work but the salary is too low. They don’t even get pay slips and are not registered with Social Security. Most of all, they don’t sign contracts with their employers. The prices of consumer goods have skyrocketed to the extent that they cannot afford to feed themselves and their families. This, in my view, constitutes crime and abuse of human rights. Please pay attention to these matter.
*CAN the Labour Office be specific on how long a person can be on contract to be employed permanently. Please?
Health
*I DO not know what the Onandjokwe Hospital management is doing. The nurses home is falling apart, walls have big cracks, toilets and basins are broken and always untidy. Fix the geysers because we are tired of cold showers.
*YES, the senior nurse at Windhoek Central Hospital ICU must change her attitude towards staff and visitors. She must retire because she is already over the retirement age. The hospital is not her house. It is a public place.
In And From The Regions
*The Luderitz Town Council must stop focussing on removing shacks in Donkerhoek residential area. Start building the houses you promised for the suffering residents of Donkerhoek.
*GROOTFONTEIN Municipality do something about the running sewage water. The whole of Umulunga residential area has a problem with water coming from drains.
*TO the Ministry of Justice at Mariental, I have a problem with Legal Aid lawyers at Mariental. My brother was charged with attempted rape and was given a Legal Aid lawyer but he appeared in court for the second time without the lawyer and the magistrate told him to go and see his lawyer for bail application. My brother wrote letters to his lawyer without getting any feedback and he is now in prison for six months without getting bail. I don’t want to mention his name but please Ministry of Justice do something about these lawyers at Mariental. The holding cells are overcrowded with innocent people because they don’t get bail. I hope things will change soon.
