SMSes for Thursday 04 April 2013

SMS Of The Day *WHAT is the problem with Professor Joseph Diescho? If he is the best candidate then offer him the job. We are sick and tired of Namibians looking down on their own intellectuals simply because of jealousy. Let’s recruit those who can deliver, deliver and deliver.

Food For Thought
*THE Swakopmund Municipality needs to make a plan with the street vendors selling their traditional food in front of the gambling house in Mondesa. There is no space for the pedestrians to walk on the pavement. I am not against them selling their products in front of the gambling house but I am against the fact that we do not have space to walk on. Pavements are for pedestrians. Now, they have occupied it for their businesses.

Bouquets And Brickbats
*IS MTC out of stock or have they run out of ideas. I renewed my contract a month ago but have so far not received any phone call. Every time I visit their office I’m told that there is no stock. When are you going to acquire stock? I am wasting my money to visit the MTC centre. It is now a month that I am looking for my new phone.

*CITY Police please help us at the Kupferberg landfill site. Street kids are a big problem and they are dangerous.

*I WAS admitted to Oshakati State Hospital. I am in ward 16, room eight. The toilet water is running by itself, day and night. Too much water is being wasted in that way. Management must look at this problem and repair the toilet. Government will have to fork out a lot of money if the toilet is not repaired soon. Taxpayer’s money is going down the drain.

*FORENSIC audit report at the Polytechnic of Namibia. Come on now. Who are you fooling? It has become a trend in Namibia to find fault with the heads of institutions, suspend and ultimately fire them. It’s a matter of time. We know where this is coming from. It’s emanating from the camps existing in the Ministry of Education. Minister Abraham Iyambo is no more and one camp has become strong.

*TRANSNAMIB board surely knows how to mess up corporate affairs and individuals’ lives. Are boards of directors in Namibia a new mafia in town, only accountable to themselves? General Manager of Human Resources, Albertus !Naruseb should have claimed more money for the unfair dismissal. What TransNamib paid out to him was peanuts if you compare it to the damage done to his name, plus psychological and financial trauma for over three years before justice rained on him.

*NAMPOL human resource department when are you going to change the structure of our ranks to constable? We are suffering. We have completed our probation period of 15 months. We need our money before 20 April. Concerned member of 2010/11 intake.

*MINISTER David Namwandi, you promised the nation last December that the training levy will be collected. Please keep your eyes on the ball to make sure that the NTA delivers. The private sector is concerned about the current leadership vacuum.

*THE priorities of our leaders are mixed up. You cannot lead the country without passion. Patriotism should come before self interest at parastatals, especially from board members. They have been appointed in those positions to protect the resources of the State but they only bring destruction to parastatals.

*NANTU, I want to know why you don’t stop deducting money from our salaries despite several requests. I deserve my freedom of association and to choose who I want to associate with. Please  stop exploiting us.

*HOW can this man from the Windhoek Municipality (Broadcast on NBC TV at 23h00 on 2 April) say that house prices are affordable? Perhaps millionaires can afford them. We, the teachers, nurses and the police can’t afford those prices.

*HARRY Simon spent three years in prison. Who is Willem Isaack? Jerry Munyama was there. Sackey Namugongo is still in prison. We have laws in Namibia. What is a deputy minister?

*I AM shocked at the level of dishonesty demonstrated by the top three (President Hifikepunye Pohamba, Hage Geingob and Nangolo Mbumba) in Swapo. Comrades, your argument that giving preferential treatment to the ‘struggle kids’ would divide this nation is very shallow. You (the Swapo leadership) have been practising it since 21 March 1990, when you started with ‘jobs for comrades’ which you, President Pohamba was so passionate about as Swapo secretary general. The money was channeled to surviving war veterans, including the N$2 200 per month. EPLs, fishing quotas, resettlement farms, tenders and scholarships. By the way, Mbumba, the nation is waiting for a convincing answer as to how the President and his friends’ children got scholarships to China. Show leadership and deal with the mess you created. The dead parents of the kids you are teargassing today must be turning in their graves seeing the treatment you are giving to their offspring while you are living in luxury. – Kondjeni.

*IT IS always good to hear our President talking about job creation. When is the President going to practice what he is preaching. We really want to work. We don’t want to be like the ‘struggle kids’ but if you keep on telling us lies our patience will end.

*NAMIBIANS must start to embrace decentralisation by creating institutions that will provide services at constituency level rather than chopping up the country into village-size constituencies.

*THE shortage of affordable housing in Namibia must be declared a disaster. All efforts to address this matter must not be business as usual. Vakwetu!

*THE Government needs to take proactive and urgent action to deal with the problems facing the majority of Namibians. No more excuses please! If those appointed are incapable then fire them and get properly qualified, experienced, caring and honest motivated leaders who are not greedy, selfish and corrupt people. This will solve all our problems.

*WHAT is happening in our beloved country Namibia? I am urging my fellow man to stop the rape and killing of our women. Let’s join hands and hunt down those disgraceful men.

*I HAVE a big problem with the Ministry of Trade. Most poor upcoming SMEs are discriminated against by the Tender Board who hand out tenders to get positions (self enrichment).

*CITY of Windhoek: The speedpoint machine at Katutura municipal office is out of order since last year. What are your plans? We need to swipe our cards rather than carrying huge amounts of money.

*WHAT is happening in the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry? Yesterday it was about protecting our livestock sector by not allowing our cattle to supply the Angolan market for fear that this will jeopardise our chances and enable other players in the long run to build up stock and take over the share of our international market. The same thing happened to the ostrich industry. Now we have capitulated and decided to open up our market because we are now not able to protect our farmers by subsidising fodder or sales of their animals. Certainly we are killing the livestock sector in Namibia and should not mourn later for having lost the lucrative international livestock market, we now share with other competitors, through our own fault.

*IGNATIUS Shixwameni of All People’s Party was right when he said in the National Assembly that the money given to NSFAF should just be given to institutions of higher learning so that every learner that passes grade 12 obtains his/her first degree for free. That is a million dollar statement but it’s funny that Swapo comrades disagreed with it. Yet, they want Namibia to develop. Is this what we call deliver?

Suggestion Box
*UNIFORMS for teachers are a good idea because it will bring recognition and respect among male and female teachers.

Service Please
*STANDARD Bank Outapi, please improve your customer service or get more workers and bigger office place. You are disappointing us. People stand in queues for hours and nothing moves. Standard Bank is the worst bank here. Take your clients into consideration.

*MULTICHOICE should think of a way to refund people when they call their centre and if MultiChoice decides not to pick up the phone as MTC is charging us too. Or they must terminate the service if people don’t pay. When people pay for re-connection they must also re-connect on time.

*MONITRONICS Success College, why don’t you refund our money? I paid N$4 000 but I don’t attend classes there. Do you think we are rich? Please refund us. What must we do to get our money back?

*BRANCH managers of all the banks in Eenhana: I would like to know what kind of problems you have each and every pay day with your ATM services. On every pay day the ATMs are not functioning. What kind of problems do you experience that cannot be repaired? Shame on you. Why don’t you consider your customers? Please respond.

Education
*THE Ministry of Education should be congratulated on the introduction of Life Skills and free education. However, the introduction of sport teachers will complete the combo. Full-time sports teachers are seriously needed to teach Physical Education and coordinate sports activities in schools.

*ERONGO education office, I was shocked to learn that a Grade 10 failure has been appointed as temporary teacher. The woman failed Grade 10 between 2003-4 at Ruacana Combined School in the Kavango Region. Please Ministry of Education do something?
– Concerned citizen of Kavango Region

Health
*MINSTER Richard Kamwi it is good to see you visiting Oshakati State Hospital and that you spoke to the lady who lost her baby boy last Sunday. I think this is a solution rather to hear many stories from different people.

*MINISTER Richard Kamwi and health of the nation. The problems around health in Namibia are not here because of the minister’s inaction. These are the problems experienced all over the world. Instead of looking for solutions we are looking for scapegoats.

*THE Minister of Health, Richard Kamwi, his deputy, Permanent Secretary and the entire staff management of Oshakati State Hospital should be suspended for the death of the infant who lost his life due to negligence of the staff members. How many more lives are we going to lose due to your incompetence?

*WE appreciate the changes initiated by the Permanent Secretary, the Ministry of Health. However, more has to be done on the attitude of nurses towards patients. That baby boy who died because of the negligence by nurses at Oshakati State Hospital is the case in point. This must not happen again. The nurses responsible should not be allowed to practice nursing.

Sport
*THE NFA must put a life ban on the people who were responsible for cheating during last weekend’s The Namibian Newspaper Cup tournament. Their actions can be compared to match fixing.

* NFA do not punish a region for the crimes of few people. Punish the culprits. Youngsters of next year have nothing to do with this. Apply your mind rationally please.

*THE NFA should consider recruiting players from the winning Otjozondjupa Regional team for the Brave Warriors.

In And From The Regions
*RUNDU Town Council must repair all the broken taps where water is fetched with pre-paid cards. People are suffering. At times there is no water at most taps in the residential areas of Rundu, especially in Ndama location. People are walking long distances to fetch water. No water no life!

*LETTERS sent out by the Nkurenkuru Town Council early this year notified the residents to remove traditional hut structures from the town, but the homesteads of the Mayor and some councillors are also full of those structures. Leaders must set an example to the followers.

*POLITICS is at play in the development of Grootfontein. No tangible development has taken place here since independence. Politics has divided people in this town. Millions of dollars are being pumped in every year but nothing is happening. The President must address this problem. Government officials are only working for their bellies. The National Planning Commission has given N$10 million for the servicing of land, but that’s not done and we cannot acquire land. Government must do something for us.

*CAN the government have a closer look at Walvis Bay? The town is overcrowded, especially the Kuisebmond residential area. People are in need of houses. Please come up with new extensions like it is done in Windhoek. No development in town. Cry the beloved Walvis Bay. Revenue is coming out of this town but little is being done for the town.

*KEETMANSHOOP police officers must stop swearing at people when they are on duty please.

*THE Municipality of Keetmanshoop please repair the road to the state hospital. The ambulance, taxis and other vehicles drive like crazy on this road. We are used to our quiet road and I am afraid that our children’s lives are in danger. I beg you to take a look into this matter before it is late.

*MINISTER of Youth, control and regulate your GRN cars allocated at the Ministry of Youth Sport and Culture at Tsumeb. Misusing our taxpayer money by driving cars after hours and on public holidays cannot be condoned. Government employees are getting transport allowances as well. Please sir take action.
