Food For Thought
*SOME MPs and some Regional Councillors should improve their level of accountability to the people they are supposed to serve.
Bouquets And Brickbats
*THE National radio’s Cutie and CJ are stuck in the 1990’s. We want to hear new music as well. Please.
*TO all managers of Oranjemumd taxi businesses. If you don’t know what it means to run a taxi business just close it. If you call a taxi driver at 08h00. He only comes after 14h00.
*ONDONGA Region? Please don’t associate Ondonga Traditional Authority (OTA) with that name, neither blame the government. Does the name Peter Nanyemba Region, as proposed by OTA, carry tribalism?
*GOVERNOR Clemens Kashuupulwa has lost focus and respect for traditional leaders. He is trying to shift everything from Oshikoto Region to Oshana. Comrade President, transfer him to another region before it is too late.
*POLYTECHNIC of Namibia, it is time to go through students progress report and see how they performed in other subjects. Then think of allocating different tutors to them, apart from the lecturer that has been teaching them throughout. I am done with all certificate and degree courses but I’m finding it hard to pass a single diploma subject for four consecutive years. This will demoralise students and even new students will have fear of studying this programme because their minds will be on the failure rate. Public Management HOD, you know what I am talking about. It’s not something new. It’s time for you to act. If the assignments/exam is brought back for remark, it shouldn’t go to the person who marked it first. That only creates bias and hatred. Have tutors for remark on standby. We are tired of being furniture at Polytechnic.
*THE contract signed by Meatco’s permanent workers is not in line with the Labour Act. Meatco and Nafau violated the country’s constitution. This is because the workers do not know the law. Something is fishy in this matter.
*THE New Era of Friday, 26 April: “The Ministry of Finance is investigating the best mechanism to finance housing in communal areas where currently land title vests in the State and not with the occupier of the land”. Can someone analyse and translate what it means? Is the intention good or bad?
*NAMIBIA’S MPs, you are a disgrace and are failing to come up with effective policies but you are asking for your status to be upgraded. You must first see to it that the country’s economy is prosperous. About protection; how many politicians were attacked during the past 10 years and how many civilians were killed during the same period?
*I WOULD like to seek advice from the Legal Assistance Centre. My widowed mother recently asked for assistance from the local magistrate’s office. She lodged a verbal complaint against her son-in-law and asked for a restriction order against him as he does not show any respect to her. He has a relationship with my sister whom he does not respect either. He is still coming to our house and we are helpless. Please give advice.
-Victim from Keetmanshoop.
*PLEASE, I beg you in the name of God. Those who are supporting Ondonga Region, Oshili, withdraw this name. Let there be only one Namibia, one Nation.
*I WOULD like to say thumbs up to Arthur Pickering for his brilliant opinion piece in The Namibian of 26 April. All Namibians who have the interest of this country at heart should read the piece and we should adopt the lessons highlighted therein. We can build this nation by adopting such progressive policies and way of thinking.
*CONGRATULATIONS, warrant officer Christine Fonsech. We really appreciate your leadership towards Women and Men Network. We thank you for the support.
n*THE political leaders of this country must stop to think Namibians are ignorant. They must stop boasting about Namibian Constitution being the best or one of the best in the world and that they wrote it within few weeks. They must tell the truth. They found the constitution already drafted by Chester Crocker, the former American Secretary of States.
*GOVERNOR Clemens Kashuupulwa must stop interfering in the affairs of Ondonga tribe. After all, he was never a true patriot or a democrat. His refusal to allow Professor Joseph Diescho to conduct a public lecture in Oshana Region is fresh in our minds. The reason being, the professor is an independent thinker.
*OUR government and the Municipality of Windhoek don’t care about the people living in Havana. How is it possible that this area is without water, toilet facilities and electricity after 23 years of independence. It seems Namibia is not our motherland but belongs to the municipality. Swapo leaders, please think about it.
*I WOULD like to express my appreciation to Polytechnic and SRC for negotiating with FNB to bring ATM on the campus. It’s a huge boost.
*NTA must give training to the managers at VTC. Some are just there to give orders and yet not doing much themselves. Managers should set examples?
*NTA, please do something about the medical aid scheme. We cannot manage with our expenses. The company should pay at least 80% towards it? Acting CEO help please!
*MPs in Namibia are totally incompetent and arrogant. How can a member of parliament use Kenya as an example to justify their quest for salary increment and benefits? Is Kenya a role model to emulate? Shame on you!
*THE NDF member who is living and working at Suiderhof Base. Who is requesting that his/her transport allowance be cancelled deserves a medal. Fat cats in the government service, please take note!
–De Dema
*PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba, do Namibia a favour and step down, as soon as possible. Take your corrupt fat cats with you. You and your fat cats are just a burden on tax payers. We deserve better leaders.
*CAN MTC do something about ‘Happy Hour’?
*WHERE does the myth that all women are caring, loving, sweet, peaceful, passive, delicate, vulnerable creatures and non-violent victims originate from? Women are human beings just like men, with all the weaknesses and vices that implies.
*I WOULD like to hear from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education. When are you going to release the list of successful candidates who applied for government scholarships. We are going to start our classes on 15 May and we have to apply for study permits before we go abroad. Please, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Education, we need your urgent attention on this matter, otherwise we will be late for registration.

*KARIBIB Mining & CC. How can you deduct 27% tax from a casual worker who is earning less than N$3 000 per month? We want to know where that money is going because we don’t have tax numbers.
*I AM concerned about the new regrading of salaries for teachers. Why is the gap so big between the HODs and teachers. We all do the same work and on top of that HODs have less periods to teach. It is totally unfair.
*GOVERNMENT must please help the orphans. We are suffering a lot. Once we complete our grade 12 we end up in the streets because no one is there to assist to go for further studies.
*ON Friday at 16h00 on the road between Walvis Bay and Longbeach I overtook a vehicle. I made a terrible mistake and almost caused an accident! I offer my apologies to the person or persons in the silver bakkie who I basically forced off the road! I’m very, very sorry! Please forgive me! I’m so sorry and God bless you!
*I AM glad that the South African NAMAs organisers failed us. We should always use what we have at home. Why do we go to other places. It’s almost a law in Namibia that we can only use outsiders when those resources are not available at home. So, it’s mind boggling for the NAMAs organisers to jump the gun and ran to outsource the job to South Africans. This should be a good lesson which we should never repeat. NAMAs organisers, please take note. Charity begins at home.
Labour
*MINISTER of Labour. Please send your investigators to Walvis Bay. Fishing companies are exploiting their employees going out on the sea, We are underpaid and get no benefits from our natural resources. We don’t have medical aid and housing allowance. We can’t even afford a shack and are paid peanuts. Please, rescue us from local quota holders and their foreign hungry partners, Please start with Seawork Fish Processor.
Education
*MINISTER of Education: This is about the Onegumbo Senior Secondary School in the Omusati Region. Some Grade 11 learners are denied the opportunity to write their subjects on high level (HIGCSE). Only those who passed with an A symbol are considered. Minister of Education, tell us why is this happening? We also want to write some subjects on that high level (HIGSE).
