SMSes for Monday 22 April 2013

SMS Of The Day *THE actions of the ‘struggle kids’ are questionable when they defy court orders. Are these so-called born frees above the law? If their concerns are genuine, why have they waited until now? Why couldn’t they voice their concerns in 1990 at independence? Why now all of a sudden? Their actions clearly show that they have unwavering support from certain individuals in key positions who are determined to promote tribalism and chaos and anarchy in Namibia. What is the interest of those who are slaughtering cows for them? Why have these divisive leaders not fed them in 1990? We are not stupid or blind to see the intentions of selfish old tribalists! Stop corrupting and destroying these children.

Food For Thought
*THE Ministry of Education claims that more teachers are needed. Yet, there are qualified teachers who are still roaming the streets. Please do something about it!

Bouquets And Brickbats
*CAN the Permanent Secretary of Defence please explain why some students on special studies cannot access transport money?

*MINISTER of Defence. You told them the truth, Sir. We soldiers support you, especially lower rank officers, even though we don’t get housing subsidies. We cannot afford houses, even in Okahandja. Very good for you to let them know that you came to bring about change.

*PEOPLE of God. We must learn to appreciate. If something has been done for you, give thanks. Don’t just wait for something bad to happen then start complaining non-stop. Remember, we are all human beings.

*I AM reliably informed that some of the so-called ‘struggle kids’ had jobs before they came up with this idea of ‘struggle kids’. They resigned because they knew they could force the government for free money. Investigate them. Some were even police officers. They were discharged because of misconduct.

*IT’S disgusting to see a member of parliament with sunglasses on her head. What are you doing madam? It doesn’t look good. Why don’t you leave them in your car?

*CAN someone from FNB please inform the public about house prices. I bought a house for N$75 000 some ten years ago and my monthly installment is N$1 200 but I still have ten more years to pay for it. How much is the cost price of this house. Please help.

*I AM just wondering when NFA will settle the debt of women footballers. We need the money because we depend on it.

*THE administration of Namibian Police is very weak. It takes three years for cadet constables’ salaries to be adjusted to that of full constable.

* I DON’T want to be insensitive but the so-called ‘struggle kids’ are starting to work on my nerves. How can they say they have nowhere to go? Where were they before they came to Windhoek? They think they are ‘struggle kids’ because they were born outside the country. Where were they when we were chased around here in Namibia by the apartheid government and also lost our parents. We have also contributed to the liberation struggle.

*THE public, who have been ripped off when staying in NWR’s delapidated resorts at astronomical prices and have complained for years in the media without any response from those with the power to change it, can tell you there was fraud going on. Namibians in general no longer use these once popular resorts and book into less expensive functional alternatives.

*I STILL fail to understand why ‘Team Namibia’ is endorsing products made in South Africa and advertise them as specials. These products are made by a well known South African supermarket chain. Yet, Stampriet veggies from a Namibian supermarket are not endorsed. What is going on? Have you lost the plot?

*READING about corruption in the newspapers makes me think that you are in a self service bank. If the corrupt people are known to the company/police or government, why is nobody being arrested. Charge and sentence them! Corruption is one facetted. What about crime, tax evation etc. Have a beautiful day.

*CAN somebody make me understand the law? I see illegal practices published in our newspapers everyday and their being praised so much by those running them.

*MEN are copycats. They do what other men do because they get away with it. More men are urinating anywhere publicly when the urge comes. More men kill, rape and abuse their partners, just to follow the trend. I once abused alcohol and assaulted my wife because my dad and my uncles did it and got away with it. Sixty years ago this behaviour by our dads was the norm because it was the rule that the man was boss and could use any means to enforce his authority. Luckily, more men are educated about alcohol abuse and more men do not drink at all. Men might follow this trend and the abuse will end in time.

*THERE is no answer as to why men always rape and kill innocent women and girls. Are those persons mad and can our police not catch them? Are they professionals? Cry, Namibia.

*WHAT does a man being caught pants down with another man’s wife got to do with general Sebastian Ndeitunga? My goodness, we have rampant rape, murder, corruption etc in this country. Those are personal and private issues. For goodness sake.

*THE reason why people are more concerned about free fodder for livestock than the poverty of the people is because every fat cat politician is a weekend stock and land owner.

*WHAT a shock. City Police assaulting Mandela Ramakutla. They almost killed him. If he had stolen the laptop as they claim, they should have charged him. Why assault him? It is clear that Police are assaulting people for no apparent reason.

*CONCERNED parent, what does Flamingo Primary School’s internal arrangements got to do with you? You don’t have to buy a hot dog if you don’t want. Rather express concern about education or your domestic affairs.

*WHY complain about rent being too high? Some of us are renting out houses that are not subsidised by government or any company. Tenants destroy our houses and want to stay with extended family, something which they will not be allowed to do at a hotel or guesthouse.

*MINISTERS are highly paid and I’m sure they can afford to buy Mercedes Benzes. Government buying Mercedes Benzes for them? That’s selfishness. More and more graduates are roaming the streets, while the government is wasting taxpayers’ money on luxury cars. Government should create job opportunities for the people. Time has come to vote for a change.

*MINISTERS, get your new Mercedes Benzes but don’t allow the poor and the downtrodden to go and buy cheap cars in Botswana.

*ABOUT commissioners and deputy commissioners in NamPol: All races and tribes are reasonably represented in the police force. They are at least trying to balance. What about NDF? It’s worse.

*AAAH, Windhoek Deputy Mayor, you indeed rock by standing up for the poor. Long live and God bless you.

*IN response to the SMS regarding farmers versus government. Please note that the farmers are contributing money to state coffers through the sale of animals and also contribute directly to national economy. Don’t be narrow minded. Both the government and farmers need each other for survival.

*NANTU, inform the teachers about regrading. When is it going to be implemented, who will be affected? Stand up for teachers. We put you there to address our concerns and to take up our grievances with authorities, but we have to hear everything through the media. Is it fair?

*ALFRED Ilukena, are you threatening the teachers with warning letters? We will demonstrate peacefully if we have to. It is our democratic right to do so. Deducting the money from teachers who went on strike is totally unfair.

*GOVERNMENT must know that all Namibians, no matter their colour, race or place of origin must be treated equally as per the Constitution of Namibia.

*NOW is the time that the justice system stop favouring criminals, especially murderers and rapists. I don’t think life imprisonment is the answer, because the criminals enjoy free breakfast, lunch and dinner without any hard labour, while innocent children are starving on the streets. Our tax money is being wasted on murderers and rapists which actually encourages them to commit crime. I therefore suggest that they be given harsh punishment. An eye for an eye and a toe for a toe. Until then, the term ‘equal rights’ will not make any sense!

*I AM inviting President Hifikepunye Pohamba to come to Tutaleni informal settlement and familiarise himself with the conditions at this place before buying Mercedez Benzes for ministers.

*WE would like to see that all languages are written in The Namibian as is done with the Oshivambo language. We want equal treatment in this country, please.

*THE school rugby trials that were held last week were daylight robbery. The selection of teams was based on their names and not on performance. It seems most of the selected teams (under 16) were from three schools only (Windhoek High School, Windhoek Gymnasium and Walvis Bay). It is very disappointing. Favouritism cannot be allowed on school level.

*THE Permanent Secretary of health, don’t say we were going to conduct interviews again. What about the money we lost on previous trips to attend the interviews?

*I APPEAL to the Ministers: When your fleet of Mercedes Benzes arrive, please do a parade with your fleet in the streets of all informal settlements on the outskirts of Windhoek. Wave your party flags with hooters and headlights on. Show your luxury cars to the electorate (in extreme poverty) who voted you into power.

*I AM happy with the way social workers of Gender Equality are working, but what does emergency funding mean? Winter is approaching and the OVCs are without blankets and mattresses. Social workers visited our school and promised that they would assist us since they have recorded OVCs at our school. Dear minister, please address this matter. Why do you visit schools if you don’t have the capacity to help.
– Concerned teachers

*MY child reacted to a bee sting and developed anaphalactic shock. I rushed her to Kalkfeld Clinic which was the nearest. To my surprise, she got first class treatment from the management to young medical officers. Whesley Useb, thank you very much for saving my daughter’s life.
– Eve, Windhoek.

*COMPANIES like Barloworld, Swakop Uranium and B2Gold must consider people with broad experience. There are people who can build or assemble a cat machine, like haul trucks, people with experience on earthmoving equipment. New qualified boys get scared if they see a haul truck or drill rig.

*GIBEON Village Council, shame on you! Stop favouritism when it comes to appointments. How can you advertise positions for fire officer and assistant accountant, but you promote your people who don’t have qualifications, Please ACC, visit this small village of Gibeon.

*NEDBANK wake up, the world is moving ahead. We want cellphone banking. Compete with other banks or we will leave you in darkness.

*PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba, you’d better work hard. We can’t accept that our people die in this country, because of people who are killing them. You’d better apply your mind and work hard with you ministers.

*ENCOURAGING teenagers to abstain from sex is obviously not effective. It’s time that we encourage them to make use of family planning tips to avoid teenaged pregnancies.

*CAN I still become a teacher after completing my qualifications with IUM?

*HOW can a newly trained constable be deployed and forced to rent a place, while warrant officers or inspectors and chiefs live in police barracks? Og, inspector general please.

NAMAs 2013

*NAMAs 2013 was a complete disaster!

*NAMAs was not well organised. It was a huge mess, because of people coming drunk on stage. That should not have been allowed. That was indeed an embarassment.

*THE co-host (lady) at the NAMAs last Saturday was the worst dressed on the evening.

*THE NBC/MTC NAMA music award is a clear proof that women in Namibia can speak better English than men. I salute you, Namibian women.

*THE NAMAs is a joke. Tim Ekandjo should have done a better job and those participating should have rehearsed well. Bad jokes and rude comments were the order of the day. Shame on the whole organisation. Indeed, an embarrassment for Namibia!

*JA, nee MTC. You snubbed NBC for a South African company to produce the NAMAs. Well, we all know by now that the production was pathetic, to say the least. Will you go ahead and pay them the millions they quoted? I would rather give that money to a local company.

*NAMAs? Didn’t you people rehearse? Poor! Poor! Poooor! NAMA dollars were waisted.
– Sophy K

*SOME of the presenters at the NAMAs looked as if they just woke up from the dead. What a joke it was. Tim, you made a fool of yourself.

*WOW, this year’s NAMAs was a big joke. It was unorganised. You went 10 steps back from last year’s awards ceremony. And you chose to invite South African celebs to such nonsense. Way to go MTC/NBC, way to go.

*LET me be the first one to admit. This years NAMAs were boring. No background music when collecting your awards. Tim, don’t defend yourself, because I am just fair and real.

*THE NAMAs. Another series of technical disasters from an inept NBC and weak organisation from MTC.

*THE introduction to NAMAs just did it for me. Those guys deserve more. The memory lane trip left me all tears and excited at the same time. I appreciated it, so much! Thank you our beloved artists!

*BOLI Mootseng, just shut up! We wanted to see the artists performing, not to listen to your big mouth. And waar pas the dark glasses at night. Vakwetu!

Service Please

*CAN Pep Stores Head Office tell us when the customers are allowed to make a lay-byes. The staff at Grootfontein branch do not allow us to make lay-byes. The reason, they say, is that their lay-bye room is full. For the third time I was not allowed to make a lay-bye and I travel from the farm.
