Food For Thought
*WE must fight the killing and rape of women as we do with HIV-AIDS. Campaigning must play an active part through radio, television and newspapers from top to bottom. That will do the trick.
Bouquets And Brickbats
*THE recent statistics on unemployment in our country by Namibia Statistics Agency should be credited to Martin Mwinga.
*MINISTRY of Works, Transport and Communication. Why don’t NATIS give back answer sheets for learner licences. Are the officers instructed from the head office not to give back answer sheets? Rundu Natis is going too far. I think there is something fishy going on. Imagine, a person who never read the book or cannot even read English language comes out smiling, but those who studied the book fail with 50% and 60%. People (30) are tested per day but only four or five will make it. It’s really a disaster driving young people to criminal activities.
*ORBAN Primary School board and management. Why is your tender for renovations and building tailor-made for a particular gentleman? That, in my view, is corruption of the highest order. Soon you will be charged for corruption.
*NAMIBIANS should know that when we go to sleep with full stomachs there are others in our country who go to bed with empty stomachs. What benefits do Namibians get from the new Mercedes-Benzes that are to be purchased for ministers?
*TO the driver of the taxi H189. Don’t throw your rubbish through the window. Keep a plastic bag in the car for rubbish.
*DEAR President. Considering what was reported in The Namibian newspaper of Friday 12, about the state of maternity wards, Minister Richard Kamwi and permanent secretary Andrew Ndishishi should be fired. And while you are at it, let the heads roll at the Ministry of Works. These people are clearly not capable of running professionally what is entrusted to them.
*ORBAN Primary School management, stop bullying your teachers. Allow your teachers to express themselves. Please don’t cut them short when they want to express themselves. They will bottle up and not be productive. Don’t victimise your teachers when they fight for their rights. Have a human heart, don’t push them to depression.
*NEW PSEMAS is good, but Nantu must take note that the take-home pay of certain teachers is becoming less. So, revisit the restructuring so that all teachers benefit and not only a certain group.
Is it legal?
IS online gambling/betting allowed in Namibia? If not, why not? Can the finance gurus please explain.
*PSEMAS’s new subscription fees are in place but not the benefits. I went to buy medicine over the counter but was told that I cannot. Please Nantu, do your work and represent your members and see to it that benefits are in place or refund the money of civil servants.
*PRIME Minister we know that you are trying to catch up on “Lost Time’’. That’s GREAT, but you cannot, on your own, change Namibia for the better. You know that a large portion of civil servants are simply not pulling their weight thereby sabotaging the system, and wasting billions of dollars every year. Sort them out and let us move forward. All Namibians have a decent life and not just a few lucky ones.
*WHY do we experience so many murder and rape cases in Namibia? I think, that’s because of many shebeens that have sprung up everywhere since independence. Law enforcement seems to be weak. Namibia has become a country of alcoholics and druggies. That is why rape and murder is flourishing, and we all know it!
*GOVERNMENT and businesspeople must help the people of Onamantanga in the Omusati Region during the time of drought. We experience a shortage of water and there is no bus for learners. It is shameful to hear learners walking 38km from home to school. Please do something. From K.Peter in Oshakati.
*I AM very disappointed and shocked to hear people suffering at Ongandjera, while the government has decided to buy new expensive cars for ministers. Why is government not using that money to buy school buses for the learners? The ministers have already enriched themselves.
*THE Constitution guarantees our guardian- and custodianship over our children and resources of this country. Greed is not just widening the gap between rich and poor. It is destroying the spirit of our children. It is time that the workers wake up and stop the production of beer and import of alcohol into this country. Furthermore, an expert in law should challenge and stop the import and distribution of luxury cars to Cabinet ministers.
*AIR Namibia. Your top managers need to have a brainstorming session, considering costs and number of passengers for every flight. The analysis will give you an indication as to how to implement your policies to make a success of the airline.
*MONEY is the root of all evil! And Namibia is definitely no exception. Who, in the leadership of this country is strong enough to stop this rot. The greed, corruption, theft and abuse of all the resources of Namibia. Prime Minister it’s not too late to get rid of the deadwood. Appoint young, motivated, honest and dedicated Namibians to solve the many problems facing most Namibians.
*NamPort must tell us who were the successful candidates for their cadet bursaries. We don’t want corruption. Ndalikutegelela.
*CAN someone enlighten me on how spitting and blowing one’s nose in public is perceived by some cultures in Namibia. My taxi driver would always open his door at robots or sometimes even in the middle of the road to spit on the road! To me, this is disgusting. When he starts clearing his throat I already want to throw up. I never take change from him because he would use his hands after blowing his nose. I always make sure that I have the exact amount ot pay (N$9).
*WHY is the water of Helao Nafidi town expensive? We buy our own water pipes to get water from a far distance? Minimum amount is N$1 300 or maximum N$4 000. Please help.
*THE media houses must take note of Unanisa Hengari’s excellent article on “freedom of expression versus right to privacy”. It is true that media practitioners have blurred the thin line between the two concepts. Phil Geiseb, Sesfontein.
*IT is high time the AAC reveals its findings on the Neckartal Dam investigation. There is a possibility of corruption on the part of the Tender Board.
*NCH and The Namibian, since when is a youth 35 and below?
*ORANJEMUND Town Council and Namdeb management, for how long should people who want to visit Oranjemund apply for permits. Kindly abolish the colonial rules and free Oranjemud.
*MINISTER David Namwandi, who is a strong, visionary and passionate leader, supported by a strong, seasoned principal from one of our top performing high schools as deputy director, the Khomas Region shall regain its number one position on the performance ladder.
*OMARURU is spotlessly clean. Keep up the good work.
*I AM really disappointed that after 23 years of independence we do not have a trading centre for VTC graduates in the entire north or northeastern regions, while the majority of students are from those regions. It is disturbing and inconvenient to send a graduate from Valombola to go for trade internship to Arandis. I urge the Ministry of Education, NQA and NTA to consider this proposal. We cannot develop or reduce unemployment while ignoring the majority artisans who are supposed to move our economy to the next level. I also want to suggest that the time for trade tests be increased. Many students fail due to time limit. Thanking you in advance for considering my suggestions.
*THE receptionist at Dr Mercedes’s practice at Lafrenz township is very rude. You are chasing away patients. You need to be sent for customer care training.
*ABUSE, rape and murder are not in God’s plan for a woman. God’s plan for a woman is to be loved. The evil of abusing, raping and murder of women and children is not in school, church or home. The society, government and Namibian police must attack the root cause of the problem to uproot it. The root cause is drugs and alcohol abuse in Namibia. Every Namibian should rather realise that our society is addicted to the evils I mentioned. Eliminate drugs and limit the use of alcohol and you will see the difference.
*HOW gifted are the Hengari guys? They are really inspiring me as a young person. They are intelligent. Keep it up guys.
*THE Ministry of Works is the biggest culprit in the dilapidation of infrastructure at State Hospitals. They are supposed to repair the infrastructure and to solve the problems that are related to it. But it takes years to reparation. Is the minister inefficient or unable to control his subordinates. If so, replace him and let someone else take over. We are already suffering by standing in queues to elect our leaders. Please comrade Pohamba, let us put the money where our mouths are.
*IT IS very sad to note what the Minister of Education said in Parliament. He said there is no way to teach religious education in Namibian schools. As a Christian yourself, its a shame.
*MINISTER of Defence must leave the Education Ministry alone. What’s wrong with free education or is it the people who are implementing it. We have already lost a Minister of Education. We don’t want to lose current minister.
*MINISTER Nahas Angula. Keep your comments on education for yourself. Children of war veterans are receiving free education. Let others also benefit. Concern yourself with defence matters. General Namoloh, please come back.
*REPORTERS at The Namibian newspaper. You didn’t have to publish a picture of a dirty toilet on the front page in order to make a point. I couldn’t eat for the whole day because of that picture.
*I DO not want to blame people who get raped and killed but people should take precautions. Women should not take offers of drinks from men because most men believe that when they buy a drink for women they owe them sex in return. We should strengthen our cultural practices. Mothers should warn their daughters against spending too much time in the company of men. Namibians should think of going back to cultural practices. That will minimise rape and teenage pregnancies. We can do this. We only have to try and teach our daughters to listen to our advice.
Service Please
*I THINK there’s something seriously wrong with the person selecting weekend movies for NBC. They are terrible, tasteless and to say the least satanic. There are better movies. Gosh!
*NBC TV. Please replace ‘Desperate Housewives’ with something educational. This one is not good for our children.
Education
*EDUCATION. The inspector of Etayi must do something about teachers at Okaleke Combined School who are sleeping while they are supposed to look after the learners who write the exams. Their behaviour will give chance to learners to copy the work of others. Please do something.
*GOVERNMENT ministers, especially the prime minister should follow the example of the Ministry of Health and assist student at UNAM and Polytechnic to do internship in Public Institution and at various Ministries. That will help them to gain experience to be employed in future at public institutions. This can be done during June and July holidays. Send letters to these institutions and ask student to come and work. Words must be translated into action.
*ANDREW Mostert, please contact the NAMCOL office at Keetmanshoop. It’s very urgent!
Health
*“WHY are you bringing the patient today? Why didn’t you bring yesterday (Friday)?” These were the words of one of our senior nurses at ICU Windhoek Central Hospital to myself and the transporting paramedics. Instead of asking how the patient is doing she goes on to ask “how long has the patient stayed in the ICU of another hospital and why we decided to bring the patient on a weekend”. I am so disappointed with the attitude of that senior nurse at our hospital and this is not how we receive our patients. If the sister reads this piece, she must please change her attitude or else resign if you are fed up to work for the public.
*MINISTER Richard Kamwi, just admit that there is a mess at the Ministry of Health. We want to see change in the ministry. There is a lack of managers who can do the work. If it was not Africa heads could have rolled at your ministry. You are the captain of the ship that is sinking.
In And From The Regions
*WHY are deputy directors of Karas Regional Council always on long trips, as if they don’t have people under them who can be delegated to represent the council and give feedback to the council. Or is it about the S&T.
*NATIS Keetmanshoop, your new system is fair, but why does it take 8 weeks to get an appointment?
Lost And Found
*I, Fanuel Twafindana Shidute, lost my FNB wallet with my IUM student card and ID. If found call or SMS me at 0816282551.
