SMSes for Friday 12 April 2013

SMS Of The Day *WHERE is Namibia heading? Unemployment among the youth is high, crime rate is high, death rate of women and children during labour is high, and government is buying new Mercedes Benz cars for ministers again, instead of improving the health facilities and providing opportunities for the youth to improve their standard of living.

Food For Thought
*WE are tired of poor service in this country. Walvis Bay Municipality, we don’t want the repeat of last year’s water crisis. Be innovative and get your house in order. The frequent shortage of water affects us a lot. You had so much time to sort out this mess.

Bouquets And Brickbats

*FINANCE department in NamPol, how long must we wait for our salaries to be adjusted from the ranks of cadet constable to constable? It is now three years. We have families to look after and we can’t make it with student constable salaries. We are in financial problems.

*SOUTH African Airways at the international airport is a joke. Service is really bad. Please, get your old employees back who you sold to Air Namibia. Gold member.

*PEOPLE of Khomasdal, are you aware that customer care centre in Katutura is selling application forms for plots in Otjimuise, Extention 4?

*IT’S amazing to note how times have changed. Change has come to the detriment of the taxpayers. New Mercs for ministers. I remember how things were done in Rhodesia during the time of Ian Smith (1970). There were no cars for ministers. They had to use their own cars even the Prime Minister could be seen driving around in his old Peugeot (farm bakkie).

*I WAS calling the NSFAF offices to enquire about the scholarships to Malaysia but they did not pick up the phone. Is the list of successful applicants ready or not? If it is ready why is it being kept undercover? Minister David Namwandi and ACC Director Paulus Noa please investigate. We’re tired of favouritism.

*CHECKERS at Kalahari Sands Hotel is littered with cockroaches at the fresh food counter. Sies man! What impression are you giving to the tourists shopping there? Not to mention the health of the customers?

*MINISTRY of Veterans Affairs please approve the projects of veterans or if you can’t do that give the money in cash. We are getting old and cannot run projects at old-age. Most of the veterans are no more and some are dying. You are approving the projects that came late skipping the projects applied for years ago. What does that mean? We are sick an tired of waiting. N$50 000 is not enough.

*THANK you City of Windhoek for the census operation of shebeens and dogs. But what about the noise made by the alarm of ambulances, City Police and private cars, as well as the school alarms? Barking of dogs is a personal issue between two households.

*DEAR NBC, please be so kind and get a commentator who can report exactly what is happening on the pitch. The language of the commentator who was broadcasting last time was very bad. He was speaking as if he was drunk. Thank you. Brave Warriors supporter.

*MINISTER Kamwi was very clear when he said that he cannot be blamed for everything going wrong in his ministry, while there are people who neglect their work in the ministry. I would want to see more ministers and permanent secretaries on ‘One-On-One’. Please extend the programme from one hour to two hours and allow people to call and post questions.

*MINISTER David Namwandi, what solutions do you have for the improvement of education in this country? In all your meetings with academics you only threaten them. You never come up with solutions only talking and singing the same old song of threats like somebody who does not know what to do. Did you study leadership management? The sun will never rise with your attitude sir. From a retired principal.

*I AM glad to hear that the Namibian Police are patrolling the streets, looking for Angolans and Zimbabweans who are selling and roaming the streets of Windhoek. Congratulations! You are doing a good job.

*IS the Namibian government provoking the civil servants again? What’s going on with our allowances and backpay?

*THE police wanted to implement a new salary structure while they totally failed to implement the existing approved positions nationwide.

*THE minister must take action against the nurses at Oshakati State Hospital. We want cameras in all the state hospitals in Namibia.
n THE death penalty should be considered for serious crimes like murder. Our own system is failing us. No wonder criminals are not afraid. We should have a system that can effectively deal with these thugs. Please!

*MINISTER of Education, do you know that some private schools are expelling leaners without following procedures even though they receive subsidy from the government? Are private schools above the law? Please visit private schools, especially in the north. Leaners are living in fear.

*THERE is nothing wrong if members of NamPol complain about their salaries in the media. Article 21 (1) (a) reads “all persons shall have the right to freedom of speech and expression, which shall include freedom of the press and other media”. Such rights are for all Namibians and not limited to certain people. Sorry ngo!

*TO all bus and taxi drivers. We thank you for your services throughout the years, day in and day out, through scorching heat and biting cold just to make sure we poor people reach our various destinations. You endured killings, insults and fear at the hands of sick people, your employers and ghosts. The public must know that at times you have chosen to do what you are doing and not that you can’t do something else. God bless, protect and give you peace.

*GRN. Yes, you most certainly know how to spend money that we don’t even have. Does any leader have any concept of saving money or using money to help the poor, the unemployed and our senior citizens? Please answer.

*I AM a businessman and FNB Grootfontein branch client for many years. I am always treated in a professional way and receive a good service. The tellers, and especially their supervisor, are friendly. I am really satisfied knowing my millions are in safe hands. Keep it up FNB Grootfontein.

*MTC, what’s the use of having happy hour but you don’t deliver? The speed is very slow. Please do something or remove the service. It could have been great if you had competition.

*WOW! The ‘Fat Cats’ are procuring a fleet of Mercs to polish and add value to their current mega-life style. Is this what we fought for? Shame on you.

Service Please
*WE desperately need FNB automatic teller machine at Noordoewer. The Bank Windhoek’s ATM is killing us. Their charges are exorbitant and it’s the only ATM available here. We urgently need FNB ATM at Noordoewer.

*THE receptionist at Dr Palmerts practice you are very rude and a shame to that practice. Please learn how to treat patients.

*BARELY six months after the public library has opened the staff is already displaying a negative attitude. The staff at the front desk talk to children in a very rude manner. It is horrible.

*THE staff at the main desk at the public library in town are rude and unhelpful. With their attitude they will chase us away. What kind of customer service is that?

*My child was chased away from the Windhoek Public Library by staff members that are rude to our children. Is the library not there to help and assist the public?

New Cars for Ministers
*WHAT? New Mercs for ministers? No please. Imagine, my house is falling apart. I wanted my GIPF money to uplift my living condition but was not successful. This kind of treatment by our own government is unfair to the nation. We are all disappointed.

*WHAT’S the purpose of new Mercedes Benzes for ministers while we don’t even have enough textbooks at shools? Sies, government think again. The people have money, what do they use it for?

*NEW Mercedes Benzes for ministers while the nation is starving. We are experiencing drought and the majority of Namibians are living in abject poverty. How outrageous. Since the government can spend N$14.8-million on cars why can’t each person in a household be given N$200 as a Basic Income Grant (BIG) in an effort to eradicate poverty? They can purchase those cars after having addressed the urgent matters.

*THE government is at it again. Spending millions on luxury vehicles for ministers, while we have a high percentage of people living in extreme poverty, school children in Okankolo Constituancy being taught under stick-sheds, and a threat of drought. Please learn from Uruguay’s President Jose Mujica who lives a simple life.

Health

*MINISTER of Health and Social Services please visit the Grootfontein State Hospital and see how the nurses are working. They are very rude. They even want someone (who’s not working there) to take off bandages of injured patients when patients visit the hospital for dressing.

*THE Oshakati State Hospital incident has touched every normal Namibian sadly but nobody has the right to say that those nurses should be fired because Namibia has laws. Remember what Phillip Lutaya sings in his song “Today is me, tomorrow is someone else”.

Education
*MINISTER of Education when are you visiting the Ohangwena Education Human Resource Department? The officers in that department are delaying the work by not appointing teachers and school secretaries in time. To appoint a school secretary takes up to five months. We want to do our work professionally. Don’t blame teachers and principals anymore. The blame should go to human resources.

*THE Ministry of Education and NTA should ask neighbouring countries to offer study opportunities to students who have done exceptionally well in their final year and want to undergo vocational raining. Some of them are suffering because they cannot go on with their studies, especially N4 Electrotechnics up to N6 and those who want to do high voltage (HV).

*STOP fooling us Onankali Circuit. Classes during April holiday were not conducted in a fair manner. All subjects were suppose to be funded but that was not the case. The reasons you gave us do not hold water. Concerned teacher, Onankali Circuit.

*MINISTER of Education please visit private schools. Some of the private school expel learners in the middle of the year. They don’t care about the Education Act. Do private schools have their own Education Act? I know of one private school that has expelled five learners this year. We need prompt intervention of the ministry.

In And From The Regions
*GOBABIS Municipality, I cannot believe what I saw in Wednesday’s papers. You sacked about 47 employees recently and now you are looking for Strategic Executives. You can barely maintain our roads and street lights. Will you only be able to pay them fat cheques? ACC please intervene because something is fishy. Concerned Gobabis resident.

*WE, the Karibib community, want to see that our place is being developed. We need houses, shopping centres and hotels to be build as soon as possible. It seems the Karibib Town Council, the CEO and the Mayor do not know how to develop the place. Institutions like NHE, Cheethars and BP are more than welcome to bring development. How are we going to achieve Vision 2030 if we don’t start now.

*OK Furniture at Katima Mulilo, I want to know why is your service poor. I bought a Sony TV (flat screen) last December for which I paid cash. I experienced problems with the product and took it back in January this year. They informed me that it was written off and would give me another one. Since then I have been enquiring about it every week but the person who is responsible is not telling me the truth. Four months are gone and he does not come out with the truth. Poor customer service to say the least.

*KEETMANSHOOP Natis, we are not happy with the way you introduce the new system of appointments. Can you please tell us what was wrong with the old system that we could make a booking (seven days) in advance? I think that was a perfect way of making appointments. Please bring it back if it is possible.

*OSHAKATI Town Council you should start repairing potholes in the streets. The rainy season is over. Most of the potholes that were repaired last year have resurfaced. Please do a better job this time around especially in Kwame Nkrumah Street.

Sport
*I FAIL to understand why big business companies only sponsor soccer and boxing. What about karate and other sport codes? We also need sponsorships.
