Food for Thought
*THE constant demand for more money by employees of parastatals shows our inherent selfishness as a nation. Shouldn’t we rather use the money to invest in opportunities and thereby create employment for those who are unfortunately unemployed at this stage?
*WHEN are we going to open our eyes Africans? Where are your morals? Namibian civil servants wake up! How can you allow yourself to be led by the people who have been accused of stealing your money via GIPF? Stop complaining about lack of housing and low salaries. When you wake up Namibia will have been looted by your ‘heroes’!
– Kamati
Unions
*WHERE are we heading? Union leaders are supposed to fight for the interests of the workers, not as political leaders. They are doing things according to what the government has decided because they want to create a good name for themselves in order to gain a position in the Swapo government. We want better salaries and reasonable benefits. You are there for us not the government. Enough is enough!
*CIVIL servants, let’s fight for Kaaronda. In Namibia, you are being booted when you tell the truth. Now they are hunting KK too. Keep on speaking. We are behind you.
– Anna
Civil Servants
*HOW can the Ministry of Defence advertise vacant posts and fill them with people from outside the ministry while we have equally qualified NDF personnel? We want transparency. This is not fair. Is it because our family names are not well known in this organisation or what? Tell us what criteria are you using to appoint and place people. You are failing Namibians. Let us get away with nepotism, tribalism and favouritism please.
*WE, the teachers, demand a salary hike now because all the prices for basic needs have gone up.
*I AM an investigator in the Namibian police. I earn a salary of N$3 600 after deductions of which I use N$700 per month to call witnesses, complainants who have unknown addresses and have opened cases and informers. Sometimes I even buy airtime for informers to provide information, phone colleagues and senior officers to give them reports and feedback on serious offences. This has been going on for three years now. I am losing a lot every month. Please Minister Nangolo Mbumba and Inspector General do something. I am committed and dedicated but this whole airtime thing is killing me. Please I am crying for your help.
*ABNER Shopati, it’s like you forgot your fellow nurses after being rewarded with a new office. Be aware that you owe us (nurses) our money. You are not a politician. You are a nurse. You have forgotten your promises. Please be a good leader. We want the feedback you promised to give us last year on job evaluations and salary restructuring for nurses.
– From angry nurses.
*I WOULD like to advise the Minister of Defence that a housing allowance is not a food allowance. I can live in the base but I’m renting for my family in another town. I’m requesting a housing allowance for every soldier.
*MINISTRY of Youth, cleaners are not doing their job due to the unavailability of cleaning materials and protective clothing. Officers responsible for ordering materials in the regions are always doing their job on time but head office in Windhoek fails to approve or sometimes approves but within a minimum period of six months and it will come with expired materials and no one knows why it’s like that. Please, can the Ministry change their way of working and do their jobs on time and choose other suppliers that sell quality materials in order to keep our government offices and hostels clean please!
*MINISTER of Health should visit Outapi Hospital where pregnant women stay under a tree. This is not good because during the rainy season they are really suffering. Please do something.
*IT’S time for us civil servants to let our voices be heard. Will you be part of a mass strike by all GRN workers? We need salary increments, better housing etc.
Bouquets and Brickbats
*WHO appointed Tim Ekandjo of MTC as custodian of Namibia’s moral and social conscience? What makes him the expert on everything? Is it necessary that the media seek his opinion every time news happens? He’s a outright self-promoter who’s no more qualified to make judgements than anyone else yet the media fawns over him to a sickening degree. Ekandjo should rather spend his time improving MTC’s lame adverts and producing an understandable monthly customer billing statement.
Tim Ekandjo’s recent statement about Hart van Windhoek was made in a press release sent to the media by MTC.
– News desk
*I THINK Elijah Ngurare must grow up or those remote controlling him must know that what is good today can be bitter tomorrow. Comments he made at the Napwu congress were childish.
*IT’S sad to see the SWAPO government facilitating China’s colonisation of Namibia. I thought Swapo was built by Africans proud to call themselves anti-colonialists? What’s going on?
*THANK you President Pohamba and First Lady, for the appreciation you showed for Namibian ‘Golden Girl’, Johanna Benson. God bless you and God bless the Republic of Namibia.
– Ndadi MS, Ohangwena Region.
*HONESTLY speaking, whoever allowed a bar and gambling house to be built in Tauben Glen should be fired. Now we have loud music playing on a school night. Is this fair?
– Mufaro Nesongano.
*NBC news readers! Please try and pronounce the words and names correctly. Please!
*NEXT time you criticise, Tim Ekandjo, let me take the honour of correcting you, Tim Ekandjo is not MTC so please, put your house in order!
*HOW can Petrus Nevonga stand for a position at the recent Napwu congress? Did the delegates forget the GIPF issue or what the hell really happened?
*ONE can only say the Americans deserve what happened in Libya and what is happening in the Arab world. What they did to Gaddafi and Saddam will never go unpunished. This is only the beginning.
Education
*PLEASE GRN look to both sides. We artisans from different training centres all over Namibia are suffering a lot. Private companies don’t want to recruit us, now we are back on the streets while our diplomas and certificates are gathering dust. We need your help please!
*DR ABRAHAM Iyambo, you are very unfair. When learners at Omega Combined School boycotted classes for two weeks none of you travelled there. Is it because it’s a school for San people that you don’t care? If anything of that nature happened to any school around Namibia, you’d be there the next day.
Politics
**JOEL Kaapanda has been campaigning for ‘nationhood and national pride’ for Namibians to love and be proud and contribute to nation building which is a good thing. I expected him to be the first one to condemn those who closed the school in the north (for political reasons), but he never did. Does he condone it?
*I AM surprised at the President calling on Swapo members to put Swapo’s interests first. That is the problem killing Namibia today. The country is bigger than the party.
*IF the President has to act on Kazenambo Kazenambo then the same must be done to Ngurare for calling Kazenambo names. Don’t always scream murder when your own is violated but turn a blind eye when it’s somebody you don’t support. Be fair. But I’m afraid in this country there’s no such a thing.
*DUDLEY, how about drawing a cartoon of an opposition party member? Or is there nothing negative about opposition parties?
*A FUNNY world we live in... The Swapo president asks the SPYL to shake up and get things done. SPYL takes the advice and after a long session they come up with the bright insight that the government needs to improve education and that condoms need to be distributed at school. These topics are in nearly every day’s news. I would like to know what the function of SPYL is?
*I REALISED that when we approach an election year, you’ll find people start making meetings. They tell the nation, “if I win the election I will bring development locally,” but later you find nothing will happen. Why do they think we are stupid?
Health
*MINISTRY of Health, is it fair to stop private doctors giving drugs to their patients? How long do you want patients to suffer while waiting for the pharmacist to attend to them? Look at Oshakati pharmacy. It’s always full. Leave the doctors alone. At least they know how to keep our secrets instead of going to pharmacy where everyone will see what you are given.
*ALL of a sudden patients are being told to buy drugs at pharmacies instead of getting them from their doctors. The doctors are private and so are the pharmacies. So, what’s the big deal? The nearest pharmacy from my doctor is three kilometres away. That’s more taxi money and time wasted. The most affected here is the patient. Please reconsider.
*DR KAMWI, since you took over as Minister of Health, you fought very had to pass into law the dispensing act. In fact, this might be your only legacy as Minister of Health since everything has been left to natural decay! Are you sure you are really in touch with the needs and means of the people you are supposed to serve? Do you think that the majority of Namibians can now access medication more than when you took office?
