Food for Thought
*WINDHOEK Show committee, please reduce your entrance fees for this year to N$20. This way you will get more people to visit the show. If you cannot reduce the price have at least two days at a reduced price. N$40 is way too expensive.
Education
*I WOULD start by thanking the Ministry of Education for the job well done through giving loans. But I would like to ask whether institutions have the right to decide the amount of refund to give to students? If yes, which section of the contract, that we signed when acquiring the loan, does it state so? If no then does it mean that we are entitled to all of our refund money? What should we do if it’s not given to us?
*WHEN learners fail teachers are to be blamed. But when money vanished into thin air resulting in class rooms not completed, like it happened at Ongwediva Control, nobody is blamed. Or is this what Abraham Iyambo calls ‘’deliver’’?
– Concerned parent
*MINISTER Abraham Iyambo, please include Ombongolo Primary School at Etapaela village under the Tsandi constituency in Omusati region in the 1 300 classrooms which will be funded by the Chinese government. The school is in need of new classrooms, to extend to Grade 7, due to the increasing number of kids in the village who want to be educated.
*IT IS not only Cuban engineering degrees that the ECN doesn’t want to register. It’s Chinese degrees as well. My cousin (chemical engineering and technology) and friends who got a Master’s in electrical mechanical electronics and computer engineering are all not registered. This is deliberate. It’s a disgrace!
Service Please
*POOR service at the department Civic Affairs of the Minister of Home Affairs at Katima Mulilo. I visited the regional office on August 28. The office is in a mess. The officers are sitting and doing nothing and are rude to clients. Poor service, uncaring attitudes bring long queues at this office. My suggestion to the minister is that transfers might be the solution.
*MINISTRY of Finance, Inland Revenue Oshakati please pay out the refunds for statements you mailed to taxpayers from April this year. If it is the taxpayer that owes this ministry then the interests are added on. What is going on? PS Ericah Shafudah please take action. It is so slow in refunding us.
*I walked into Edgars Oshakati on August 31 and politely requested the lady to allow me to enter the fitting room to try on the garments I intended to buy. She tells me to wait outside and I did patiently. I was shocked, dismayed and embarrassed as she gave me the number and said, “you dirty those clothes, you will buy them whether it fit you or not!”. I was so shocked so much that without a word I returned her number and gave back the clothes. Is this how we serve our fellow Namibians?
Bouquets and Brickbats
*THE STANDARD Bank cellphone reporting is ineffective. How can one withdraw two times on different days without any report?
*ALL teachers are cowards. I am too. Imitating NBC will not make you lose your job.
*IN FRIDAY’S Moshiwambo section of The Namibian newspaper (31/08/2012) there appears an important article ‘Olufuko Oshitopolwa Oshitiyali’. I ask The Namibian newspaper to have this very article to be published in English for all people in the Land of the Brave to read! They really need to know what is really taking place at the Olufuko festival. In this article it is reported that the girls who went through this initiation were under age (12 to 14 years old)!
*CAN NFA not come and check how soccer is operating in the Kunene Region. No meetings at all! Anyone can be a referee and it brings chaos among the teams and hatred! All teams win at their homes but never away!
*LEGALISING some parastatals as emergency services once damage is done, like the recent NBC strike, is not proactive planning. Why do we have to wait until a wrong happens? Why wait until one dies before a commission is established? Why a commission on domestic workers, while Bishop Kameeta’s commission already did that? Where are we misplacing our priorities as government?
– Z Mujoro, Okaepe.
*DEAR president when will Health Minister Richard Kamwi be shuffled for a new person with new critical thinking and actions.
*JOHN Mutorwa thinks the answer to extraordinary rates of deforestation is for Namibia to do value addition? Dear Minister, sadly you have missed the entire point of escalating deforestation and environmental devastation. Could the MET please take over Forestry as soon as possible! And why not take over the Ministry of Agriculture as well?
*WE ARE totally fed up with rude Okahandja Natis employees. They are rude. They shout at us who go there for learner’s license. Management, do something! Either they quit or they change.
Civil Servants
*CIVIL servants’ salary issue has become TOP SECRET.
*CIVIL Servants we are really just making noise. GIPF got away with money which were missing. Now our salary increment negotiations are pending. What is next? I am a teacher in Swakopmund but cannot afford a house here. What about people only with Grade 12? Let us follow NBC. We empower people sitting in air-conditioned offices. Fed up!
– Highs-T
*ABNER Shopati are you still ahead of Nanu or not? Nurses don’t have a voice but every month you receive something from nurses for many years now but your Nanu looks like an old dog without teeth.
Health
*MINISTRY of Health or Finance? Are you guys running out of money or what is the problem of stopping private doctors from dispensing medicine? You are forcing us to go to the state where ministers are not even going to. And on top of that, we the lowly paid, cannot afford the medicine from the pharmacy. Please do something about it. Where are we heading to in this Namibia?
*MINISTRY of Health please explain why you are using nurses to become directors of health over the doctors in all the 13 region of Namibia? This is why poor quality service is experienced. Between a doctor and a nurse which one is higher? How many operations does a nurse perform in a day?
*HOW can you make the Ministry of Health and Social Services illegal to strike? After all, we are the lowest paid lambs of God saving many lives and putting our lives at risk. Improve the salaries or else you wish the nation dead. Shame! Richard Kamwi, it’s your role, play it! We are not happy at all.
– Poor nurse.
*MINISTER Kamwi and your team, we are sick and tired of old faces in your ministry. If a person reach 60 years he/she must retire. We want fresh blood in the ministry. This is why nurses are leaving for greener pastures. Those people were not born with experience. You must give chance to others.
*MINISTER Kamwi when will Kaenda Village get a clinic? They have to go to Sibbinda and to Kasheshe which is far. Can the clinic be build? We what to know. We are tired of promises.
– CO Mathews
In and from the Regions
*OKAHAO State Hospital is just a big mess; Nurses are resigning all the time, renovations are on stand-by for months, staff are coming to work late and sneaking out. The hospital is dirty and no proper management exist. Please someone, rescue our hospital.
*OLUFUKO! People that are praising olufuko are the ones who don’t have any of their relatives participating. I’m challenging the governor of Omusati and her fellow politician to have their own kids participate next year. Stop using the poor, do your thing with your own kids.
*I THINK it’s now time for the community of Otjiwarongo to stand up and stand together and start campaigning for a better hospital. The hospital is dirty, the buildings are so ugly. Our goverment is still using old buildings built during the Apartheid regime, which they rejected in the past. Minister Kamwi is only monitoring the nurses while the buildings are falling apart. Please President Pohamba, visit our hospital. We need a better one.
– Tjarireove.
*Abraham Iyambo, when is your ministry going to deliver and complete classes at Ongwediva Control, it’s almost two years now.

Reply to Previous SMS
*Im a teacher at Aurora Primary School in Okahandja and would like to reply on the SMS dated August 23 that teachers are fighting everyday and that teaching and learning is affected. The one who send that SMS, calling Minister Iyambo to please hurry, is digging a hole for himself or herself. Teaching and learning is our priority number one. Our management work so hard and monitor everything and they keep record of everything. The staff members are co-operating well with only two or three who always disagree with proposals made. The school consist of 32 teachers. Only those two or three teachers are always negative. They are political witch hunters. Minister Iyambo, please come and see their performance.
*I AGREE that speed humps are really damaging to vehicles especially those in Florence Nightingale street near total service station in Khomasdal. Authorities should find a different way to deal with the hell drivers. Why must law abiding motorist also be punished?
