Food for Thought
*I DON’T think what the SPYL initially did represents the interests of the party and the country. To say that those oldies have been selected based on merit and capabilities is an insult to the intelligence of the Namibian people. Job Amupanda and his group should know that politics is a piece work, and cannot be owned by an individual. They are demonstrating a dictator style and should be called to order before chaos erupts or should come clean as to who is behind them. Where are you going Namibia?
*POPULATION increase is the root cause of wars, crime, housing needs and weather change. A single parent with 10 children? Child grants must only be given to a woman who was married. GRN must only take care of the fist child and they will stop producing.
*LUDERITZ Council, please tell us why are you giving houses to people who were unable to pay N$70 per month at the single quarters? How will they pay rent of N$3 500 plus water and electricity?
*If Government is to favourably consider the Namibia Agriculture Union’s 35 per cent proposed land tax ceiling, there should be a corresponding requirement that no commercial farm land may be sold at any price above Agribank’s valuation. That way there will be reasonable justification for such a ceiling as future valuation roll prices will be in line with commercial land market values as determined by Agribank only.
*PRESIDENT Pohamba, pay every living Namibian just N$1 million. The population of about two million is manageable. He then suspends all social grants for five years. This will put millions to good use. Tate Pohamba, create world history. Your title will be ‘The Million Dollar President’. The time is now.
*IF every person on this earth could have the love of thy neighbour at heart, this world would be a wonderful place to live in. We would all care for one another so much so that no one will ever again sleep on an empty stomach. The world has enough for the provision of each and everyone, but the only problem is that the means of production is unevenly distributed. Let us all unconditionally love and care for one another as a nation.
*WE are waiting for two presidential candidates in Namibia for a debate on issues such as murder, rape, abortion, industrial strikes, education, economy, tax, security and youth development.
Bouquets and Brickbats
*NBC ‘Watagwan’ is the most boring programme. We will enjoy Gospel instead of this crap.
*VIVA Dankie Katjiuonga, we are behind you. Teachers, let us show the nation that we are not merely barking. Mine workers, church workers, bank workers did it so let is stop depending on cash loans and stand together for our increment.
*I’M impressed by the comments of the youth in Tuesday’s Youthpaper, in The Namibian, on who should be Namibia’s next president. I salute the teachers for the excellent job they do in educating our nation.
*WE salute NamPower for their quick response and efforts when those criminals sabotaged the power supply in the Kavango Region. Those criminals must be charged with high treason. Period!
*ANDREW Ndishishi, how can you promote someone to become a quality improvement officer when that particular nurse lacks quality in her work? Is that what many people call a political appointee? Watch your step before the public declares our ministry a failure.
*I WOULD like to say thank you to Janine Strauss from FNB Home loans. She truly knows what it means to go beyond the call of duty. May the Lord keep on blessing her.
– Mufaro Nesongano
*VETERAN Affairs your lines are consistently off the hook when one wants to inquire about how far you are with the projects. When one door closes we will surely use the other platform – SMSes in the most widely read paper because your behaviour is highly unethical. Be impartial and honest!
– Fed up!
*THANK you Jerry Ekandjo for talking about land bought by foreigners. Viva comrade Ekandjo. I like you.
*SWAPO Youth league was never too much concerned about making themselves a laughing stock, but their latest action tops it all: How can a youth league profile itself by submitting the names of a group of tate kulus for important jobs in Swapo? They normally don’t miss an opportunity to say that our leadership is too old and must step down to give the young lions a chance – and now this! Do they really think, we are so stupid? Or do they just follow their masters’ voice – not seeing not hearing, but with a big mouth?
*DOES the the government of Namibia know that there are graduates with degrees from Unam and Polytechnic roaming in the street? We need jobs. We invested a lot in education.
– Graduate
*WHAT a disgrace! The cleaning staff of Luderitz State Hospital must buy their own uniforms and shoes. No shoes or uniforms in four years. What is management doing? They are underpaid and must buy these with their meagre wages.
*WHY was SPYL’s Ngurare hell bent on resuscitating the Lubango horrors by calling for the Butcher of Lubango to make a comeback into national politics. That is utter moral and political bankruptcy!
*SERIOUSLY, I am near bursting with frustration because of our government. They can’t provide houses to such a small population, why? NHE’s answer everyday is there is no land. Next year don’t count on my vote Swapo.
*ANOTHER sad case is the money spent on war veterans that have been working since 1990. Imagine they are willing to give out N$200 000 to a person that has been working since independence while we have a nation without houses and poor living conditions. And all they can give to the old person that does not work is just N$550. Are they trying to make themselves rich or what?
*HOW stupid to cut the hand that feeds us! It is one of the highest incomes earnest for Namibia. Now you want to kill it because farmers cannot and will not pay the higher tax. They will let their farms rot. Please government, think again. We are too many people without work already. More people will lose their farm jobs!
*WE need true leaders like Ben Mulongeni and Linda Baumann. You really show concern to public servants. Thank you for the wonderful words on ‘The Week That Was’ on NBC!
Service Please
*HOW can Standard Bank brag about the launch of mobile banking when it doesn’t work? I submitted my cellphone number more than a month ago!
*I AM very disappointed at how fellow public servants treat each other. The Medical Aid department in Windhoek – how can you deduct someone’s money for a whole year without issuing a card and the recipients are told to call an office with lines that have apparently been down the whole year? We are quick to judge other public servants while there are others sitting and getting paid without doing anything. Are we waiting for our people to die before issuing the cards? What are these people doing in their offices from January to October? This is unacceptable.
*POLYTECHNIC of Namibia, why did you not communicate the registration date for the registration of third opportunity to students? Many were inconvenienced by this! Also, when can students expect their refunds on subjects passed with distinctions? I am sure all your students will be expecting your reply.
*KAMBWA Trading, your service is very weak. I ordered bricks two weeks ago but everyday there’s no transport. Please do something, I’m very disappointed.
Response to Previous SMSes
*SMS of the Day of October 16 is true. Here in Otjiwarongo erven will be on auction on November 1. How can a poor civil servant like me benefit from it? Please Minister Ekandjo intervene. I know you can do something. Otherwise we will remain poor and homeless.
Health
*RICHARD Kamwi, when is the state going to add those millions needed to improve or to put the Omuthiya District Hospital at the standard of Namibia’s hospitals?
*MINISTER Kamwi, send somebody to Tsandi Hospital in the Omusati Region. They must pay a surprise visit. Nurses in Tsandi have no characteristics of good nurses. When your relative passes away, the way they drop the body at the mortuary, please come and check.
Education
*UNAM Centre for external studies, we need our assignments back or at least give us our CA marks. We need to study.
*MINISTER of Education, please do not let the stolen exam issue go by unsolved. Those learners should not write exams. We do not want to be cheated.
Labour Issues
*PLEASE take note that teachers did not get the 10 per cent in 2011! It was three per cent and a promise that the seven per cent will be given in April 2012. It never happened until now. We should get a raise of 20 per cent to keep up with living costs.
*PEOPLE like Basilius Haingura are well paid. That is why they do not want teachers to demonstrate. We are tired of Nantu management.
*NANTU, we teachers are fed up. You are playing games with us. Those negotiations have taken long now and listening to what you said on the news indicates you did nothing at all.
– Concerned teacher
*COCA Cola Namibia, why are the general workers getting paid N$2 700 as a basic salary while you pay drivers N$3 500 as a basic salary, appointed in the same year?
*MINISTRY of Labour, do something about private companies with cleaning tenders. We only get paid peanuts. They are the same as APS. We don’t have leave days or sick leave. We can lose our jobs at any time.
*VACANCIES of GRN, like those in the Ministry of Safety and Security, advertised in November last year have still not been filled. No one has been called for interviews. We have papers and experience. Can the ministry please give us the answer?
*“THERE won’t be a strike on Wednesday. October 17 or any other Wednesday for that matter,” were the words of Basilius Haingura. Are those the words of a teacher or a bureaucrat on his way to become a Deputy Minister? It doesn’t sound representative but quite autocratic if my intellect serves me well. Namibian teachers you are the custodians of the Namibian educational ‘kitty’ and as such deserve a decent lifestyle but definitely not a pigsty or, more pointedly, a beggars way of life.
– Revolutionary Propagandist
Civil Servants
*AS a civil servant I was stressed and confused when I heard that the medical aid is increasing by 100 per cent. I wonder if our GRN has compassion and vision for it’s population and is this ad hoc alteration economically-oriented? It is really anti-economic to put strain on already strained budget. They could consider salary incrementx prior to that.
*I WOULD really like to know when the controller for Trans Kalahari will be coming to the border because since his appointment, I have personally only seen him three times since last year. Can he or the Ministry of Finance explain to us why he never visits the border? I don’t think he even knows how the border operates and we have pending cases which only he can solve.
In and from the Regions
*MINISTER of Local Government, please come and rescue Otjiwarongo Municipality from its own council. The daily administration is interrupted by the council with their self-interest.
*GRN, when will you tar our roads in Otjozondjupa Region? The road from Okahandja to Okondjatu cannot even be called a road any more because it is so damaged by those mine trucks from Otjozondu mine. If you can’t tar the road can’t you at least exempt the mine from taxes on condition that they tar the road? Why should we suffer like this?
*IT is believed that the church abolishes and condemns any type of power hunger or the bad habit of clinging to power. A humble request to the Apostolic Vicar of Rundu and the principal of the St Boniface College in Kavango Region is therefore to see to it that a new board of governors of that college be elected without delay. Some of the members are serving on the board since 1995 to date.
*OTJIWARONGO Municipality is planning to profit from desperate landless residents. On its media advert it is stated that one must register with N$1 000 to participate in the erven auction, but if you are unsuccessful only N$850 will be refunded. This is daylight robbery. They must seriously reconsider and give a 100 per cent refund rather than setting a bad precedent that will affect the poor.
*IMBILI of Okankolo Constituency, we are suffering without water at Oluundje village. It’s now 22 years of freedom in our country but we still don’t have tap water in our area.
*WHAT is going on in the Hardap Education Region? The principal post at Mariental High School, which became vacant after Mr Paulton left, is still not filled! This is a matter of great concern. The situation at the school is really worrisome. Why can’t Paulton come back? I also learned from my child in the hostel that the situation there is no better. No discipline! The retired principal of Gibeon High School was also asked to come back and stay on to help when the school was without a ‘shepherd’! Can’t the Director do proper planning and do his homework? When is the end of his office term?
*WE, the Opuwo residents, will support the Opuwo Town Council’s planned strike for their salary notch. The CEO and councillors must go. They are incompetent. They are failing to run such a small town.
*CAN the council of Okalongo provide us with roads and water at Eengwena please? We are suffering a lot during rainy seasons. We want to go home but cars cannot reach the place. We are still drinking water from Eendungu like we are not in a free country. What happened to Meme Mwanyangapo? Do something for poor people.
