SMSes for Wednesday 21 November 2012

SMS Of The Day *IT is time for us Namibians to look at who is suitable to become our next President. We should stop looking at what people have done before 1990, and focus on their actions after 1990! What good things has each of the candidates done to bring unity? This should be our first focus.

Food for Thought
*PRIME Minister, all business people know that the Registrar of Companies does not register two entities with the same or almost the same name. So can the PM please explain?

*THE issue of giving money to the ‘best’ driver will be a waste of money. Please leaders plan well.

*SAARA Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, where did the money come from to open a new parastatal and to pay those board members and employees?

*ECOWAS is sending troops to fight in Mali. Is SADC waiting for Ngoma to fall to  Rwanda sponsored M23 before they act? What happened to SADC Brigade? This is the time we miss the visionary leadership of the founding president.

*MINISTER of Transport, accidents are not only caused by public transport drivers. Who will evaluate all other private road users and award them?

*I DON’T understand why 14 000 Jatropha plants already growing and producing were uprooted at the Shadikorgoro project. And last week (The Namibian 15) they are again about to start with the same project at Tsiseb conservancy. Conservationists are against this but this is a solution to our reliance on fossil fuels. Biodiesel is a renewable energy. I fully support this project. I will even volunteer to be their agronomist to start their nursery for seedlings.

*IT’S that time of the year. The kabeljou are passing on their annual migration to their spawning grounds. What a disgrace to see the local fishermen act like buffoons. Twenty to 40 fish per person with two to three drives to town and return to catch more. What about the two fish per person quota, and where is nature conservation?

Bouquets and Brickbats
*IT is so sad to see the grave of one of Namibia’s icons John Muafangejo, in such a state. Can the government please repair it?

*FNB Easy Loans Post Street Mall branch, you give lousy service. You have unfriendly staff with a serious attitude problem. ‘How can we help you’, doesn’t apply at that branch. That branch is hell-bent on putting the ‘difficult’ in ‘easy’.

*TO all staff at Robert Mugabe clinic, keep up your good service. I salute you!

*THEO Namases, how does Air Namibia go on an expansionary spree while it does not have money at all? Expansion requires you to have money to undertake those expansions. It seems as if the airline does not have any budgetary control measures in place. That money could have been used on salaries rather than on loss making routes.

*NBC please, why have a year-end function if it’s not known whether there’ll be salaries for the next month. Get your priorities right!

Service Please

*I WANT to know from the Ministry of Veterans Affairs – my mother passed away at their offices in Keetmanshoop in September 2010 but up to today no money has been paid out to her kids. Please, Ministry of Veterans Affairs, do something!

*MY experience at a business at Ndama extension is shocking. I visited the shop between 13h00 and 14h00. I found a young lady and a young man there who told me they can’t assist because they are on lunch. When I asked if they can’t assist since they were at the shop anyway, the young lady said they can but only if we give them something for their pockets. Imagine what our country would become if we all asked for bribes at our work places. Shooo!

*KAMBWA Trading employees in Oshifo, Ruacana, stop playing cards and laughing at customers when they come to buy their materials at your shop. You are very rude! When a customer comes there and greets you, you just stare at him/her and do not greet back. We don’t come there to beg you, we come there to buy our materials with our own money! They run this shop as they run their own farm. Kambwa Trading management, please do something there! It is disgusting!

*POLYTECHNIC of Namibia, tell us what you are trying to do with our money? We got money from the Ministry of Education and we are the ones who are going to pay back that money, but you are just trying to play with our minds to eat up our money, for what reason? We suffered a lot. We don’t have taxi money to go to school. We didn’t have books for the whole semester but we have money in our Polytechnic accounts doing what? Explain!
n WE want to know why Lingua College don’t want to give the refund straight to us students like other institutions do.

*MINISTRY of Finance, please send your employees for training, especially the Revenue Department. Our tax returns for 2010/2011 are not captured on the system but it was submitted in June 2011. How can you explain this? Please pay our money. We need it.

Suggestion Box
*PUBLIC Service Commission and Ministry of Youth, please investigate salary structures at Heritage Institutions in Namibia. You will be shocked.

*COME 2015 Presidential elections, we want each party’s candidate on ‘One On One’ on NBC for each to tell the Namibian nation what they have to offer and how they’re going to do it. We’re tired of voting in the dark and for people who don’t care about the majority of the nation but only enriching themselves. No more empty promises and lip service. We need leaders who can stand their ground and walk the talk.

*VISION 2030! Are those who drafted and worked hard to create this vision still  involved in implementing it to make it work? If they are, what went wrong? If they are not, then bring them back on board. They are the masterminds.

*NATIS in town has IDs accidentally left by their clients. But they never contact them. I’m sure their phone and postal addresses are in their data base.

*ALL three Swapo presidential candidates need to have official televised election debates. This completes democracy! They must challenge each other!

Labour

*WHY did they stop the overtime of NDF staff? What happened to the money? NDF is the ministry that gets the most money of all the ministries but our salaries are so small, we depend on our overtime, otherwise we must make a living off cash loans and other loan sharks. I just want know what the future holds for us at NDF? We plead to our minister to bring back NDF cleaners’ overtime.

*THE statement made by the Finance Minister about when civil servants will get their back pay is childish.

*I WANT to ask the difference between the teachers who were on strike and those who were at schools without learners in the classes? Will GRN pay them for teaching desks? What difference does it make if teachers are already suffering financially and more money will be deducted from their thin salaries?

*NAMIBIAN truck drivers, I’m very disappointed in us. No union, poor working conditions and not even benefits. For how long will we carry on like this? Please let us stand up and fight for our rights. This matter is long overdue. We rob our own families of better living conditions. Please Evilastus Kaaronda, set up a union and help us.

*TEACHERS, your strike was illegal. Follow procedures. If you were unhappy with your current union leadership why didn’t you put in place a vote of no confidence in them, even if you had to go to the courts. Leave NBC, NamPower, NAC etc., alone. We are also only workers who need to put bread on our tables like you!

Politics
*PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba, Namibia is not Swapo and Swapo is not Namibia! Please stop organising party events at our State House and allowing your party candidates to campaign with taxpayers’ money.

*FOR heaven’s sake! Namibians can do without Sam Nujoma. Why always call for him to intervene when things are seemingly ‘getting out of hand’? He has been sitting on commission of inquiries findings and reports until today. He never even unequivocally pronounced himself on that. Otherwise we wouldn’t be in this mess.

*N$100 000 dinner! What a farce! Nothing more than the self enrichment club finding favour with congress to fuel their own greed and back pockets. This club adds no value over the long term to create wealth and jobs across a broader spectrum of Namibia’s population. The real item on the menu, ‘the colour of money’ for a selected few. Bon appétit Leon Jooste.

*PUBLIC resources! The likes of Job Amupanda must be very careful when campaigning with the aim to discredit our leaders. They must remember that Swapo is not theirs. I would not recognise him as a leader if he wants to promote division in the party!

Response to Previous SMSes
*THE language of tongues (Romans 8:22-27 and Ephesians 6:18) is a gift to all believers in Jesus Christ. Anyone who believes in Him and desires it can receive it by faith.

*THE person who responded in Monday’s newspaper and said, “NBC is a television station, if you are not interested, switch to another channel.” That person is not thinking. We switched off years ago but are still paying for things we don’t use. Get your facts straight.

*FOUR hundred goats divided by 80 people equals five goats per person, not 50.
