SMSes for Tuesday 27 November 2012

SMS Of The Day *MY vote will go directly to the political party and presidential candidate who promise to implement the Basic Income Grant. This promise should be fulfilled, and must not just be election propaganda.

Food for Thought
*I COULD not believe when I went to the bank to withdraw my salary, I got South Africa’s new currency. It makes me wonder really.

*ALL candidates vying for Swapo vice presidency have been in government for the past 20 plus years. They promised us heaven on earth as usual. Do these people have a conscience at all? How do they sleep at night?

*I AM a bit worried about the modern term used by our media when referring to a man who killed his lover. These barbaric, inhuman and cowardly actions are given a new name by the media: ‘passion killings’. These murderers would even start introducing themselves to their inmates as ‘passion killers’, as it sounds more modern. Can the media come up with better word that would condemn this barbaric act rather than ‘modernising’ it?

Bouquets and Brickbats
*The Permanent Secretary of Home Affairs Patrick Nandago, never takes responsibility for the pathetic manner in which Home Affairs is managed. Why does he not admit to the passport book debacle? President Hifikepunye Pohamba, please intervene. We surely deserve better service from government!

*MANAGERS of Home Affairs, did you run out of your management skills? You cannot transfer people without talking to them and hearing what their problems are. Some of the people are married and have houses and you are taking them 1200 kms away from their families. You do not even care what time of the year you do that. How can you transfer a person at the end of November? We have children just like you. I pity you because whatever you do it is just a disaster. Where are the passports?

*WHY must the Ministry of Foreign Affairs investigate why the lift fell at Parliament? Surely the inspector of machinery must do his work. The problem is that there are no updated laws or qualified engineers working in government to do the required legal inspections that must be done by government. As always, nobody in government will take responsibility. It is always the private sector or somebody unknown.

*THE only coach left for Chelsea is the owner Roman Abramovich himself.

*BLUE Waters should fire their coach with immediate effect. How could he change the winning team (BA 0 - 3 Blue Waters to BA 4 – 3 Blue Waters? He caused that humiliation, seriously.

* THANKS Black Africa for your never-say-die attitude against Blue Waters trailing 3 - 0 up until the 60th minute and winning the game. It’s a good lesson for everyone in life not to give up and fight until the end. Keep up the spirit guys!

*PASSION killing in Namibia are just too much. Perhaps the media should be blamed. If they stop giving detailed reports of every ugly issue happening in the country it would stop. They should start reporting on mechanisms to combat crimes in the country.

Service Please

*NO meetings and no activities are held at Khomas Region’s Katutura-East Section and the office is closed most of the time. Drought food is not shared. This matter was reported at head office but nothing happened. Therefore we need an urgent meeting for the matter to be addressed.

*I’M so disappointed with the service Bank Windhoek Rundu provides with their ATM machines. Just imagine driving from Katima to Windhoek and your card gets retained on a Sunday, or the machines are out of service. That’s poor service. I had to sleep in Rundu and missed out on my job.

*TUWILIKA Training Institute (NTA) Hifikepunye campus Ongwediva, bring our money back. You were just lying that you will give us courses but you did not. You wasted our time. Shame!

*CITY Police, we have no place to live, after you demolished our shacks, while we try to earn an honest living in Windhoek. We can not afford land. Please hear our plea.

*IUM we want our loan money! Are you using our money to pay your employees? We are tired of struggling to pay rent while you are using our money for solving your problems. We want our refunds this week!

*MINISTRY of Health, shame on you! The CT scan that was taken a month or three weeks ago is not yet finished. What is wrong with doctors in that department? Do you want our people to stay without treatment and die? We are concerned about our families. Hundreds of people come daily but all they hear is the doctor did not write the report yet. Somebody must shape them up.

*WHOEVER under taxed me, my income tax balance due to the Receiver of Revenue is in the thousands and is accumulating each month. As a civil servant, is my backdated salary with Finance since April coming with its interest?

*PLEASE Roads Department, will you put a barrier in Sam Nujoma Road between the traffic lights and the police station. At least two lives have been lost because drivers continually cross the solid white line. It’s especially bad outside the restaurant. It puts people at risk daily.

*I WENT to Katutura Police Station with a housebreak case and I was treated with disrespect by a very rude female officer. As if I was the criminal. I came there to get help from the police. Why are the police treating the victim like a criminal and the criminals like heroes or victims? That’s why the crime rate is increasing in Namibia. The police are there to serve the nation.

Suggestion Box
*WHY can’t our kids start Grade 1 when they are five-years-old?

*Could the Namibian police join City Police to patrol the city and residential areas in Windhoek? We are worried about our lives and properties.

Labour
*CAN the comrade who questioned the teachers proposed 40 percent increment please explain how on earth the Public Office Bearers Salary Commission came up with the 36 percent increment? Who are the selfish ones who wanted too much? Who’s fooling who? Colonialism was better than the current black oppression.

*IF Unam and Polytechnic staff can strike for salary increases so can IUM lecturers. We are paid peanuts. Get serious IUM.

*AIR Namibia should stop playing this game. They are not doing enough to sort out this strike. The passengers and businesses are affected and Air Namibia really doesn’t care about any passenger or the effect this has. They would rather protect themselves. The government should do something seeing that Air Nam has no desire in the world to resolve this.

*RUTH Nhinda, you are trying to compare the salary of our president with other presidents in Africa. Why not compare our teachers’ salaries with that of teachers of South Africa?

*CALLING all lowly paid civil servants to return their voters cards to the Office of the Prime Minister as they are not regarded Namibian enough to share the resources equally. You must be sick of getting leftovers from Abraham Iyambo, Nahas Angula and Frans Kapofi’s tables!

Politics
*I WOULD like to remind ruling party politicians that people are tired of empty promises since 1990. Employees are hungry and that is why they are striking but you want to blame the opposition for your failures. Until when do you expect us to sleep with empty stomachs while you and your families are eating the fruits of the country? Our kids cannot eat propaganda, party flags or blinding speeches. We elected you as leaders to work for us and not only for your families. You disappoint and dishearten us truly.
– Sick and tired

*OPPOSITION parties must work together if they want to beat Swapo in by-elections.

*JUDGING from his campaign it will be not wrong to conclude that Henock Ya Kasita has been promised a job should Jerry Ekandjo become the next President.

*I AM sick and tired of the Swapo  government! How on earth can the fat cats enrich themselves with a 36 percent? The three candidates are campagning using state resources. Lowly paid teachers, nurses, police and soldiers pay too much tax and on top of that the ministers earn high salaries. Is this fair?

Response to Previous SMSes
*IN light of the call for Nantu to disaffiliate from Swapo in the wake of the teachers’ strike action, we should perhaps pay homage to the foresight of Nanso leadership of the time who took that decision shortly after attainment of independence, even pressure from donors played a role.

*MATERNITY leave needs to be extended for what? Pregnancy is not sickness, for heavens sake,  unless you have a difficult pregnancy. If it’s a normal pregnancy women can work up to nine months. I am a woman myself. Only lazy women want four months maternity leave.

Lost and Found
*I, ESTER Haihonya lost my leather jacket in a car between Okahandja and Walvis Bay. The car belongs to a man called Clause who is from Swakopmund. Please call 081-860 3119.

In and From the Region
*MINISTRY of Agriculture, we want water at Ubib Village near Karasburg. We want to make a garden but the water is far.

*COUNCILS of Epembe, Omundaungilo and Okongo Constituencies, we need a road, a clinic, electricity and a Vigilant Men and Women Network at Oshuuli Centre. We should not be denied development because of the wrong demarcation of Oshuuli communities into three constituencies. Eputuko Combined School, the oldest and thus the largest in these communities (established in 1974) has no electricity, water, teachers houses or gravel road connection. President Hifikepunye Pohamba visit us please. We have been talking, no one listens to us!
