SMSes for Thursday 15 November 2012

SMS Of The Day *FOR business people to be expected, for whatever reason, to pay N$100 000 as facilitation fee for a direct discussion with our Head of State is nothing else than a corrupt practice! Whoever organised the event as well as the companies who paid the facilitation fee should please read the definitions of corruption in the Anti-Corruption Act of Namibia. Justify to the Namibian people why this action should be treated differently! Alternatively, let the people’s paper publish these definitions for the people to judge for themselves! Indeed a sad day when our President, who promised to root-out corruption, had to host the event and on top of all, at the national pride of our nation, State House!

Food for Thought
*SWAPO government, why do you want to borrow money in order to increase civil servants’ salaries? Where is our GIPF money?

*NOWADAYS people are dismissed without a fair hearing being conducted. Lots of money is wasted. This tendency is still going on. Why can’t the employers learn from other companies’ blunders?

*A MAN is head of the family but the wife and children have got the right to vote him out if he doesn’t keep his promise to provide for his family.

*THERE is no way anyone could attend a NS100 000 dinner without promises behind it. Integrity should be guarded.

*THE re-introduction of the death penalty in Namibia will solve the problem of the brutal killing of women and children. Human life is not respected in Namibia any more as killers know that they will get luxury treatment in jail and they will be out after some time anyway!

*PUBLIC servants, listen to a wise idea: “Instead of giving a politician the keys to the city it might better if we change the locks!” Please think wisely.

*POVERTY and HIV destroy the world. We need to act!

*CAN anybody tell me what interest Namibia has in the DRC? First, it was involvement in their war and now it is investment worth billions.

Suggestion Box
*STANDARD Bank, we beg you please. Make smaller notes available at ATMs. It’s disappointing to always see the message: “The amount requested is not dispensable.” Just because of a lack of N$10 notes.

*PARENTS, do we ever send something (to eat/drink) to our kids’ teachers (any energy food/brain food)? Think. Some of us can help our hungry teachers.

*MINISTER of Home Affairs in Windhoek, please consider pregnant women to get help first when they go for their IDs. They cannot stand in that long queue.

*ORGANISERS of the Gaob festival, please do a proper job this year. We are ready and want to flock to Okombahe to attend this ceremony. NBC, we are also taxpayers, take note and be there.

*STANDARD Bank home loans department, we applied for loans to renovate our houses. Since July we don’t know if the loans are approved. The attorney’s as well as the deeds office will close around December 15. When you call home loans department there’s no reply. Please help us!

*LET us revisit the laws that prohibit citizens from taking victims of accidents to the nearest hospital until the paramedics arrive. We lose people unnecessarily waiting for ambulances that do not arrive on time. Better save a life than worry who is at fault.

Bouquets and Brickbats
*IT is amazing why Elias Manga is not reacting to his suspension. Why are there no comments from him? Something is fishy...

*GOVERNMENT must stop telling the people there is no money! You continue to build massive monuments (that are never used) and dozens of ministerial buildings.

*THANKS President Hifikepunye Pohamba for the pledge in Tsumkwe to give the owners back their region. Once again, that’s the democracy that we talk about. Long live our beloved President.

*EVILASTUS Kaaronda, why are you now denying instigating teachers to continue with the strike if you were even calling those who did not take part cowards? I am sick and tired of those who mislead others like you.

*WHAT teachers need is a school to teach them how government generates money. Please report to the Economics class and understand why you need to pay tax.

*TIME and again they bail out useless companies but they give civil servants an eight percent salary increase, claiming there is no money. Ai tog, this government.

*IT’S not just Old Mutual’s clocks that are dead but their service too. Ever handed in a claim? You will die before you receive your benefit. Yet your policy premium is paid up to date. Please Old Mutual, reply to our queries as soon as you promise.

*NINETY-EIGHT percent of adults in this country are decent hard working, honest Namibians. It’s the other lousy two percent that get all the publicity, but then we elect them.

*JERRY Ekandjo, you are totally wrong to say teachers are instigated by the opposition. Teachers are demanding what is due to them. It is better to talk about tribalism and regionalism within your party. You and your ministry failed Namibians. No more houses, only shacks all over the country.

*WHERE I work, we have an option to pay tax for your bonus throughout the year so that when your bonus finally comes, the tax is already paid up. I’m cool with that. Teachers, learn to use your money wisely. Tax-free bonus my foot! Because it’s coming out of my pocket too.

*MY dear mothers and sisters, it’s really becoming bad. Innocent babies are being dumped regularly. Why not search for other means like family or friends to assist.  You carry the baby for nine months and at the end you kill or attempt to do so. If you know you won’t make it rather use contraceptives.

*MINISTER of ITC Joel Kaapanda, your defence of the President hosting a fund raising dinner at State House for a political party is totally incorrect. Indeed, the President can host functions at State House but not for any political party. The media were right in denouncing the president for conflating state and party matters. For once an apology is due to the taxpayers.

*JERRY Ekandjo, chairperson of assigned leaders of Swapo in the Hardap Region, there are still matters that are unsolved under your leadership of our region. Now you are campaigning to lead the country but you cannot lead the smallest region in the country. There cannot be a conference while the Swapo party in Gochas has nowhere to go but waiting for your decision.

*EMPTY promises before elections are destroying us after elections.

Service Please
*MINISTRY of Veteran’s Affairs in Windhoek, when are the grant forms coming out? Every time we go there the only answer we get is, “the forms are not yet out”. But the forms are already out elsewhere in the country. To make it easy just tell us that you don’t want to give us the forms. We want to further our studies but we don’t have money while you are denying us the forms. This is unfair!

*CAN Minister Rosalia Nghidinwa also address the issue of visas? How long are we to wait? We want to go home and be able to come back!

*FINANCE officials responsible for Ohangwena Education Directorate in Windhoek, I have to wait for almost a year now for my back pay. Once you call they do not answer the phone and if somebody picks up they are rude. Please do your work.

*SALT Spring Street in Greenwell Matongo is really a big problem, especially on the 20th, 25th and 31st of every month. It is very noisy from late at night until the early morning hours. People are fighting and throwing stones and we cannot sleep. We, the Saam Staan group reported it to the police but nothing happened. The river is also very dangerous.

*PEOPLE in Agste Laan are suffering too much. We need electricity. It has been a year. Please help us!

*JET MART in town, please improve your service. It’s very poor. There are a lot of tills but only two cashiers and customers have to stand in the long queue for an hour. Improve!

*KATUTURA family planning clinics are closing at 16h30 while we knock off at 17h00. When we go for help the next day they refuse to help us.

Teachers
*IT’S true that some kids can reason better than their parents. I think it’s because they have good teachers. How can a parent say teachers are greedy and selfish? In fact, you were supposed to support teachers for the sake of your children. Do you think a frustrated and hungry teacher will deliver? Get real parents.

*TO the writer who asked where the 40 percent increase, that the teachers demand will come from: Well, the answer is quite simple really. It comes from the same coffers where the president’s non-taxed salary increase and the new Mercedes Benz’s for our ministers come from. I don’t think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out that answer.

*MINISTERS Abraham Iyambo and Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, we are now back at school but please tell us when our poor offer is due? Please don’t dare make mention of next year.

*THE government should know we are not being instigated by opposition parties but have reached our limit. They should not be happy that we are back at school because we are not attending to any learners. Give us TIPEEG money which hasn’t been allocated to any project yet.

*OUR morale as teachers has been lowered by the Namibian government and Nantu’s response towards us. We do not deserve this kind of treatment at all. GRN don’t expect teachers to deliver!

*I’M very disappointed by the remarks made by the secretary general of Nantu after the negotiations came to an end. He said that there will be no wage negotiations until the 2015/16 financial year. It’s true this man doesn’t care about us. Let me remind you Basilius Haingura, that you are not employed by GRN but by those teachers you seem not to care for. We are all going to withdraw our membership and contributions or get rid of you next year.

*I WILL never join Swapo National Teachers Union (SWANTU).
