TRADE with Europe? Trade with China? What about the one billion consumers on the African continent? Yes, there are risks, but there are risks for Europe and, in the medium term, for China too. It seems we like to talk a lot about pan-Africanism but we never put it into practice!

TO those ladies and gentlemen who, because of your principles, said you will refuse the war vets money, please don’t. Accept the money and donate it to the old age homes, poorly equipped schools in rural areas, buy food for the street kids, for those at the dump sites and sick people in need. It’s what we fought for. Ubuntu wo vantu.
– Setho
THE Prime Minister deserves some credit for bringing a Bill to the National Assembly that allows staff members to lodge complaints about their permanent secretaries with a select disciplinary committee. Certain permanent secretaries have stayed in certain ministries far too long and they take things for granted. This is long overdue.
I WAS very shocked by the death of our own music singer Pedrito who died on Sunday, and that it was not on NBC TV. As a Namibian living in Grunau, at a place newspapers don’t reach, I was shocked to hear it after three days. If it was someone from a rich family it would have been on NBC TV just like the American singer Whitney was on TV. Let’s love one another as Namibians. Pedrito R.I.P
WHAT is the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare doing to assist sex workers and children to get out of prostitution? The assessment of their situation and the amount of children in the sex trade is shocking to say the least.
I WANT to know whether it’s necessary to put fancy mag rims on a government car. This is a waste of money really.
ATTENTION City of Windhoek. The stop street at the corner of Jan Jonker and Stein streets is causing unnecessary chaos and delays. Please rethink. Thank you.
– Mike
PLEASE Windhoek municipality transport services, why do the Cimbebasia buses not come to the first bus stop at Goreangab every day, only sometimes? Why?
MY deepest condolences go out to the family who lost nine family members in the fatal accident on the Swakop road. May the Almighty be with you throughout this difficult time. I really do feel your pain!
RUACANA police officers, please stop coming to work drunk and stop fighting in bars. Minister Mbumba please intervene.
MUNICIPALITY man digging worms. Allow me to add a few points here. How many people steal in Namibia? We are talking about millions and millions and those are highly respected people. Leave the old man alone. Let him steal worms rather than stealing money. He didn’t steal from the Government Institutions Pensions Fund (GIPF). What exactly happened to those culprits?
IUM Ongwediva still owes students who have not yet been refunded. And the majority are [allegedly] just given 40 per cent of their money.
THE principal of Gabriel Ndadi Combined School in Ohangwena circuit is punishing learners for late coming by weeding during lessons from 08h00 to 11h00. Learners are losing out. Can’t he do that after school? Please inspector, or any other authorised person, do something.
– Concerned parent
CAN the Ministry of Education tell us if a child loses a text book, will he/she not be allowed to attend classes? It happened at Ongenga PS?
WHAT happened to the Ondjondjo and Eloolo school secretary posts? We are now struggling because we no longer have school secretaries. Oshana Regional Education human resources, do something please.
FIVE days for a teachers’ workshop! Come on Ministry of Education, learners are left unattended while their teachers are on workshops doing things they already did during tertiary education. At least 2-3 days is appropriate.
– Worried Omusati teacher
IUM, when are we going to get some of our results for the May/June 2011 exams? Most of us in Ongwediva have been waiting since last year and no one is saying anything. We need to submit our results to the government.
CAN the management of IUM please tell us why we should attend lectures standing because the rooms are too small and they’ve accepted too many students? It is just not conducive to learning at all. Either accept limited numbers or look for bigger lecture halls. And orientate your first years.
IS there any justifiable, conceivable and legal ground for Meatco to place, inter alia, as a job requirement, the ability to communicate in Afrikaans? My true conviction is that this is pure discrimination. Afrikaans is a requirement in all positions Meatco advertises. But why? Can government, through its organs, open its eyes to this blatant labour practice!
– Ntelamo
CAN the Swakopmund municipality help us by putting up clear billboards with directions to exit the town, especially when travelling from Walvis Bay. I get lost every time I travel through.
PEOPLE of Ombogodhiya are suffering without electricity and water. Who is supposed to look after them? Please do something.
– Nelago N Silas
COUNCILLOR of Anamulenge constituency, consider upgrading the road between Onawa and Onokholo village that was de-bushed by National Youth Council volunteers in 2010 so that it will be possible to go to Oshikulufitu school. It’s already closed three times this year because of floods.
– Sir Figo
KATIMA state hospital. Multi-million dollar entry/exit points. Go inside – monkeys, cats, maggots at the mortuary, old nurses watching Nigerian movies at OPD, and surrounded by stagnant water and weeds. Please change for the better.
– Mundia
KATIMA, please don’t build kambashu structures along the entry way to your town. It’s like wearing an overall on top of a wedding dress or suit. No wonder your street lights are still fixed on wooden poles all over the only regional centre.
CAN MTC please explain why Netman is continuously not usable? The past weekend it was down from Friday evening until Sunday morning. Today (Wednesday) it has been unavailable for hours. Please get your technology in shape and you will have even more than two million customers.
I CAN’T believe that DICE was not nominated for the NAMAS!!
I WOULD like to express my disappointment in the organisers of the NAMAS. The one category that the trio PDK is nominated for does not do their latest album any justice. They deserve to be nominated in the Best Group, Best Male Artist categories as well.
TIM do you own the NAMAS awards? You deprived Lady May. Now you are depriving PDK. Why? Music to some artists is an income – bread
– Ndahanduka
MR Brian Black, did you not vote for this government who employs aliens while our own people can enjoy their free time at the rubbish dump?
I SUPPORT the SMS of March 6 about local authority councillors who are being handpicked and don’t really know what their roles are within the local authorities. Let’s not look further than what is happening in Okahandja.
Good point let’s call them Namibian Chinese.
GOVERNMENT cleaners don’t clean, period! Either they don’t know how to clean or could not care less since their pay doesn’t depend on how well they work. They come late if they bother to come at all and leave early or just sit around and do nothing! Maybe the government should outsource the cleaning service or make the cleaners part time!
DEAR Namibian, please send people secretly to check the cleanliness of the following: Ministry of Education Government Office Park, Ministry of Defence and Katutura hospital! Why do we have full-time cleaners at these places? Offices are dirty, walls and glass doors and windows filthy, toilets so dirty you can pick up illnesses due to the dirt that is all over the place! Also, why is the toilet water running continuously in these places? Is that not causing a high utility bill? Maybe ask them how much they pay for their water bills!
