Food for Thought
*ALL of us based in Windhoek came from some village, farm or smaller town. Why should the poor who came to Windhoek for better prospects, in the same way as the so-called ‘ratepayers’, not remain and work towards becoming a ratepayer. Windhoek is home to all Namibians who prefer to make it their home. None of us can claim to be a Windhoeker.
Bouquets and Brickbats
*AT last the banking industry has acted decisively to accommodate Namibians in the financial system. Bank of Namibia you are providing visionary leadership. You are on the right course! Please continue.
*FOR too long we cried about fees and charges. At last the Bank of Namibia directed the right thing that must happen without delay. But we also need jobs to get money to put in the bank.
*A WONDERFUL idea by Mr Nghikembua on addressing unemployment. I however missed one key word in his write up: rural areas (development). Where do rural areas fit within his idea?
*I STRONGLY advise that the Director General of the National Planning Commission, his staff, the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry Green Scheme agency, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of Finance read the piece by on ‘Addressing unemployment in Namibia’ by Sakaria Nghikembua. Thereafter they must meet and discuss the solution being offered and make a presentation to the cabinet committee on trade and economic development, for further action and a decision on the way forward.
*AIR Namibia service is not as bad as portrayed. Namibians let us be proud of our national airline. The breakfast is super and healthy compared to other flights I flew with. Thumbs up Air Namibia team.
*PLEASE devote some space in your well-read newspaper on animal cruelty in Windhoek and elsewhere. Never have I for the last 40 years in Namibia seen so many hurt and starving dogs on the streets, especially around Windhoek West/Dorado Park/Rocky Crest. The SPCA has limited resources to deal with the increase of animal abuse and few large corporate companies bother to support them. People should not be allowed to have dogs if they can’t even feed themselves properly, and current legislation is totally ineffective to deal with the degrading state of affairs.
From the House
*MINISTER Nickey Iyambo thanks very much for your contributions or comments on Monday in the debate on alcohol abuse in Namibia. Your contribution gave plenty of information.
Running the Show
*THE Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare made another empty statement on the Day of the African Child. It sounds good to say: “The Namibian Child is at risk or x per cent is stunted.” They at least realise that something is going on regarding the current situation of Namibian children. Who will implement the wonderful theory released? How many more theories and power statements will be developed and announced on important days? Can the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare inform the nation what they will do and how they will put these plans into action. Only then, we might have hope for the Namibian child.
*THE veterans affairs Minister says there is no hunger in Namibia but The Namibian of Monday reported up to 30 children dead from malnutrition in Hardap! Is this due to a lack of information or what is really going on?
A Place to Call Home
*CITY of Windhoek destroying the houses of the poor residents at Goreangab will not solve anything- because they do it while they do not have a solution to the problem. And when you destroy these citizens’ property, where will they get the money to buy the items which have destroyed by the City Police? This is a very shameful action and we want to know who initiated it? And why the city and government tarnish the image of our Land of the Brave.
*I WONDER why the people are blaming the City Police for demolishing the structures. The people who build those structures know they have to apply for plots. If they get away with these unlawful buildings then all of us can and will build anywhere. Let the laws be respected by all. Let them go back to their place of origin.
*ALL these people who are putting up shacks, where were you living before?
Law and Order
*IS an adult allowed to hit another adult? No! They are charged for assault! So how is it acceptable for an adult to hit a child? There are many ways to discipline, it does not always refer to physical violence. Teachers must stop hiding behind excuses and apply their minds to effectively teach our children self discipline (and that goes for parents too).
*WELL done Leon van Eck for ‘telling it like it is!’ I still struggle to write thanks to beatings on the hands while at school. Quoting a few Bible verses out of context proves nothing. 'Judas went off and hanged himself' is a Bible verse; 'go and do likewise' is another.
– Elias K.
*MAYBE if more schools had discipline society would not be burdened with such delinquents!
City Fathers
*CITY Fathers are the first four parkings in front of First National Bank at the corner of Independence Avenue and John Meinert Street not for taxis? Why do private cars park there but they don’t get fined? If officers find me where taxis are prohibited, they fine me as a taxi driver. We are just normal people like you fellow Namibians!
Education
*VIVA to Deputy Minister Dr Namwandi for his stance on corruption.

Sporting
*KANJUUKA it’s time you swallow your pride and include players like Quinton Jacobs and Oliver Risser. They can add a lot of value and experience to the team.We need them.
*THIS must be a big joke. The teams of Northern Stream First Division received a fax informing them about the registration for 2012/13 football season. That means the league will start any time while the start-up capital for the last season is still outstanding. Namibia Football Association what is the real reason for this delay?
Please Help
*I WANT to know what the criteria, rules and regulations are for an air ambulance. How and where do you apply for registration for a new air ambulance service in Namibia. Where will I get all the documents for registration.

*I THINK this is the time for nurses and other public servants to open their eyes and be responsible for their duties. Let’s look at patients complaints about nurses not attending to them but rather chatting to their friends on their phones. I don't know if it's true, but if it's true then something should be done.
