SMSes For Wednesday 13 June 2012

SMS Of The Day *UNEMPLOYMENT amongst the youth will always be high because of those rotten, corrupt individuals in the government who are giving jobs to their mothers, uncles and aunties.

Food for Thought
*MARRIAGE is not for sissies!

Bouquets and Brickbats
*TO the kind gentlemen who took the time to help me when my car broke down in the Southern Industrial Area on Monday afternoon: It is comforting to know there are generous and caring men in the city. Thank you.

*TO those Namibians who celebrated Namibia’s victory by driving around waving Swapo flags: it was a victory for Namibia. Not everything is about Swapo.

*THE quality control at the Roads Authority is poor, that is (another) reason why they don’t have money. The new road between Okahandja and Otjiwarongo already has potholes and very few lane demarcation reflectors are still working. The new surface on the road behind Outjo to Etosha is coming loose. How do you expect to have money if you do improper maintenance?

Running the Show
*HOW is the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture planning to come up with a solution for the two instructors, plumbing and carpentry, at Kaikanaxhab who don’t want to teach. It has been almost two years we have been sitting here like cattle in a feedlot. How long are we going to wait.

From the House
*I SUPPORT the discussions. At least it has been noticed that Namibia is becoming a nation of drunkards. I strongly suggest that the relevant authorities stop issuing new liquor or shebeen licences. Our leaders who own shebeens should lead by example and close these outlets.
– Hennie

City Fathers
*I THINK the City of Windhoek should put up speed humps at all four-way stops like at Swakopmund. This will reduce collisions and speeding.
– Lenny, Windhoek

*CAN the City of Windhoek inform us if the interviews for firefighters have been completed. We have been waiting for almost three months now.

Please Help
*I HAVE second-hand clothes and shoes that I want to give to needy people. Anybody who can help me with where to start, please call 081-722-7977.

*DOES anyone know of any centre offering Chinese lessons? Please let me know at 081-301-1217.
Note: Unam does. – News Desk

Education
*I DON’T know what to do with my child who has a problem at school. He’s in special Grade 4 which means Grade 3 in normal class. He is 12 and every year he’s been a problem child. He can’t read or write. I have tried to take him to different places for counselling. It didn’t help. At school he just wants to fight with sharp objects. I want to take him out so he can stay at home. Please help and pray for us because I can’t think what to do anymore.

*CAN the Minister of Education tell us teachers what the role of subject advisors is? We teachers are struggling setting up cluster question papers while they are warming chairs in their offices. They don’t visit schools but are good at criticising when result are weak.

*HOW will the country develop when we have subjects at school that do not apply to our careers? We must only have subjects that will help us in future.

*GRADE 1 teachers can you please stop beating our kids. You are terrifying our little ones.

*HRDC NamWater level 2-3 plumbing, we have been studying here for three years but we don’t have any machines in our workshop. We are going for external exams without doing preparation in the workshop but they expect us to pass. We are paying for nothing.

Labour Issues

*SECRETARY General of the Namibia Farmworkers Union (Nafwu) your co-workers are struggling without salaries. They don’t even have job descriptions, employment contracts or social security. Sweep your house before you tell others to do so.

*MINISTRY of Agriculture, Water and Forestry why do you not promote your own  employees? Or send internal vacancies to all departments or divisions within the ministry so that anyone who qualifies for posts can apply?

In and From the Regions
*WHEN are the people in charge going to figure out that the Windhoek-Okahandja road needs upgrading and widening similar to that on the Okahandja-Karibib road? It’s a heavily used road and many accidents could be prevented by widening it & creating regular double lanes for overtaking. In fact all our major roads should receive this attention urgently, but let’s at least start with Windhoek-Okahandja.

Law and Order
*ABOUT the attack on the retired minister: City Police stop victimising the motorists with heavy fines and clean up the neighbourhoods. Or are you just there to make money for the City of Windhoek?

*PLEASE City Police there are people walking with dangerous dogs (pit bulls) in public streets. This is not safe for us. These are powerful breeds.

Sporting
*I JUST want to say well done Brave Warriors, you make us proud and to the Namibia Football Association please it’s winter time, let’s play to our winter advantage. Because if we go to West Africa our boys suffer in that heat and humidity. So let’s play the next game at the same time.

*I WONDER if the Brave Warriors supporters club still exists.

*THANKS once again for what they have done against Kenya. I feel so proud to be a Namibian citizen.

*I AM appealing to anybody who is organising the postponed Sports Conference to invite former and retired sport administrators in all 13 regions.

*BOXING board do something about boxers who misbehave in society. We are shocked about the recent alleged attack on a woman.

*WHAT’S up with the Namibia Football Association? They postpone the weekend playoffs while the clubs have arranged everything. What poor organisation.

*BRAVE Warriors we want a 3-0 win over Liberia on Saturday please.

Service Please
*OSHAKATI Home Affair please be serious with people's IDs. I had a photo taken in March 2008 and up to now I haven’t received my ID. Now you make me get a duplicate when I never got the first one! And you say the first one has expired, you see it in the computer. Please I want my ID.

*I NEED help. I lost my 6-year-old daughter’s birth certificate and copies. Every time I go to Home Affairs to try and get duplicates they tell me the documents of 2006 are lost. They send me away and say I must come back. What must I do. Anyone with information please call 081-799-3997.

Responses to recent SMSes
*I AGREE with VIP protection for our retired loyal political veterans. Founding Governor of Karas region Stephanus Goliath was followed by mysterious cars at night before his house burnt down. What will happen to him next?

*THE minister is asking the nation whether they want the death penalty back, yet saying ‘no one has the right to kill another person’. Why is he contradicting himself like that?

*THE Supreme Court is not ‘drowning in bushes’, it sits beautifully between real Namibian trees not foreign plants like the municipality building!

*TO the person condemning the Arandis shopping centre design, have you seen the design or are you just one of those citizens who always want to see the negative in progress?
