Food for Thought
*EVERY night we struggle to study by candlelight, the next morning our shack is demolished. At the end of 2012 you want better results?
– Neib
*LET’S concentrate on Namibian matters. (President Jacob) Zuma can deal with his own portrait.
Bouquets and Brickbats
*WELL done Brave Warriors, well done Norii and your technical team. You did us proud guys and we are happy for that. Keep your heads high.
*I WANT to thank the Ohangwena regional police and Ongha police departments for taking time to show our learners how to properly cross the road and safety procedures when walking to school. Your professionalism and commitment to the public’s safety will result in lower numbers of accidents along the B1 road. Thanks for your work!
*I THINK meme Gwen you are a dictator in your own way. Seems you don’t appreciate anything done by our government. Never!
*MAY we, as the nation going hungry, ask Gwen Lister to form a political party? We need to vote for something else.
*IT is a shame that the Namibia Broadcasting Corporation cannot show the national team in a World Cup qualifying game. Apparently they played well but who in Namibia knows anything about it?
*NBC board of directors and all sport organisers, where do you get money to buy rights to highlight overseas matches, which don’t concern us, while you fail to broadcast our Brave Warriors playing in Africa?
*‘IS Ours A Government Of The Few For The Few?’ by Christof Maletsky. Our President needs to consider these opinions.
*SELMA Shipanga I’m sure you have said enough on Unam. Move on, the whole issue is becoming boring. Look for other stories.
*WHY do we waste our N$1 per SMS if not all our SMSes are being replied to or taken seriously. Please ministers, teachers and our dear President start reading newspapers and hear the cry of your people. We are tired of crying.
*MAHONGORA Kavihuha please concentrate on the education sector. You are not president of health but of the Teachers Union of Namibia (TUN).
A Place to Call Home
*I APPRECIATE any development in the country but am so confused that the National Housing Enterprise’s low-cost housing project is currently so active in Ohangwena, while Windhoek and its surroundings are transforming into a village due to the high number of migrants from the northern part of the country. Minister Jerry Ekandjo please do me a favour and pay a visit to the informal settlements and experience the sadness.
*MINISTER Jerry Ekandjo, how many government employees can afford houses in Windhoek?Three-bedroom houses cost over a million meaning, with a bond from the bank, one has to pay over N$10 000 per month. How much do teachers, nurses, police officers earn per month? Can you please review the N$450 000 housing scheme.
Law and Order
*WANT to get divorced. Because of the Red Line lawyer says our property is not in common. My husband defaulted. The Messenger of Court says there is no Red Line, our property is in common. What a double standard. Ministry of Justice please save us.
*A FEMALE student was assaulted by a security guard on Poly campus and campus control did nothing to protect her. After his release on bail he is still seen around the campus on duty. It's mid-year exam time and we are living in fear, the institution is silent because they don’t want a 'bad reputation'.
In and From the Regions
*MR Iikela of Swakopmund Swapo Party Youth League please take note that Swakopmund municipality has been under Swapo Party leadership since 1992 and it is your Swapo government policies which contributed to the current poverty you see in Swakopmund and other parts of the country. Please stop fooling us.
– Kamati
*CAN someone please find out who the contractor awarded a tender to debush the Kamanjab-Omakange-Opuwo roads in Kunene region is? Cattle-car accidents happen here every day because the roadsides are covered by bushes. We understand that the tender was given to someone who lives in Windhoek.
*OLUKONDA constituency counsellor, we the residents of Oshipala village need a clinic. We are tired of walking 15 km to Ontananga and Onakazizi clinics. Please Counsellor Mbolondondo make this part of your development budget plan for the 2012-2013 financial year.
– Concerned Oshipala resident
Education
*PARENTS of Helao Nafidi Primary School at Okongo constituency in Ohangwena Region want to know if the ministry is concerned about their children at this school. When it rains, learners cannot concentrate because they get rained on while in class. Their books also get wet. Nothing protects them against the rain, cold and wind. The students really need classrooms. Minister Abraham Iyambo we wish and pray God gives you a quick recovery so that you come back and visit HNP School. Dr Namwandi and PS Ilukena: the ball is in your court please follow Dr Iyambo’s footsteps and do something urgently.
– Xungileni
*I WANT to add my view to the article June 1, on page 17 ‘Changing Courses is Necessary'. I’m a student at Unam who opted for the humanities, a bachelor’s degree in social studies. I was admitted last year through mature age entry. At registration, to my surprise, I was told the course was full I should come another week for available courses. I’m doing media studies, but I want to be a social worker.
*IT has been almost three weeks now since the teachers in the Omuthiya circuit completed their work during the vacation school. These teachers have not yet been paid while teachers in Omusati region were paid on the last day they worked. We demand equity in Oshikoto Region.
*KAMANJAB Secondary School we want our kids to make it through Grade 10 and this will not be achieved if the learners don’t have teachers to give English and agriculture lessons. It’s the second semester now, what are you doing with these learners during these periods. Education Ministry please look in to this.
Health Matters
*I THINK if all regional health training centres are given an opportunity to train registered nurses we will not have problems.
*MINISTER of Health Richard Kamwi you are the one who failed to deliver. Unam is doing its best and has met the standard. It is your hospitals that are poorly equipped and nurses are being mistreated. Nurses at private hospitals also trained at Unam.
*I CONCUR with the the Teachers Union of Namibia (TUN) president in the paper of Monday, June 4. It is about time for Mr Kamwi to resign or to be fired from the health ministry. A five-month-old baby was admitted to the Katutura Hospital last week and put on a drip that had already expired. The baby’s mother enquired about the expired medicine and was told to mind her own business. Mr President please remove all incompetent individuals in the health sector.
– Taxpayer
*THE Minister of Health and Social Services needs to be reshuffled as well because he has not listened to nurses’ pleas. He blames nurses when bad things happen, but when nurses complain they do not have medical equipment, are working under pressure, the patient to nurse ratio is too high, he never listens.
Labour Issues
*WHAT is happening about Usakos State Hospital’s overtime? Since April, overtime has been paid out late. We are told the delay is due to the Swakopmund regional health office where the lady working with our overtime is on leave. Can someone else not take over? What if the person died? Would they wait for the post to be filled while our overtime is not paid? We work extra for that, so please put extra effort.
– Concerned Usakos nurse.

Service Please
*FNB and other banks are charging their clients a lot when they withdraw their money. But when banks use our money do not add any interest at all. Banks are encouraging people to keep their money in houses under their mattresses, which is not safe.
*STANDARD Bank Card Division we have honoured our obligations and paid our cards. How much longer must we wait for payments to reflect? Service please.
