SMSes for Thursday 14 June 2012

SMSes Of The Day *POLICE need to adopt a zero tolerance approach to traffic offences. So many traffic-light and speeding offences are totally ignored. Zero tolerance will also bring down the crime rate. Research has shown this to be true.   *NAMIBIANS please slow down. A total of 46 people were killed on the roads in May. Is it worth it?

Food for Thought
*IF a dog is barking don’t rebuke it, get out and check, something is wrong. Leave Gwen alone, she is like a sensor, don’t break it for our security.

Bouquets and Brickbats
*YOUTHPAPER, a ray of light in a dark Namibia. Thanks for a good read!

*TO the lady who returned a lost wallet containing cash to the police, you are an exemplary Namibian and may God bless you. I hope the police will find the rightful owner of the wallet. Thanks.
– Mr Kakujaha

*SHAME on you Eros Primary School for leaving the sprinklers on in the same place on your sports field for 24 hours! Do you not know that Namibia is an arid country and that we are trying to save our precious water? What example are you setting to our youth? How will you manage this so that it does not happen again?

Politics in General
*INTERNATIONAL politics is a strange subject. Poor Hosni Mubarak, not even a single world leader is visiting the former darling of the West.

Running the Show
*IF you don’t perform in government,  don’t worry, you will always get reshuffled. That way  your job is secure at least until you retire or die! A luta continua!

A Place to Call Home
*NO erven for the poor but hundreds of hectares for golf estates that ‘cater for high-income earners’. May the Lord help us to set priorities.
– Clement.

*HOUSING prices in Windhoek are so ridiculous, this city will never improve its living standards in line with Vision2030. Foreigners buying cash are pushing prices up. Namibians don’t earn that type of money. Who regulates this sector? Do you actually sleep at night?
– HDK

*NATIONAL Housing Enterprise please don’t auction repossessed houses. You have a waiting list. Consider them. If you auction them, the rich compete against those who are really in need of these houses.

Education
*THE Ministry of Education should extend the loans for people who are going to further their studies abroad. For some students admitted at universities abroad, the intake departs in August as classes start in September. Companies should release their bursary applications as early as June and July to accommodate these students. Please take this matter up for discussion.

*DEPUTY Minister of Education David Namwandi, we are still being taught in tents at Ongwediva Control Combined School. It is winter time and it’s very cold.

*MINISTER of Education please rescue us school secretaries. Principals do not allow us to stay in houses that were built by Millennium Challenge Account.
– Concerned secretary, Omusati

*NAMIBIA Training Authority tell us the specific month and date when the class will start instead of always telling us next month. We want to do something else. Nothing has happened since February.

*MY daughter’s school report for the last trimester is being held back at Windhoek High SChool because of outstanding school fees. Minister of Education please tell me is it legal?

*MINISTRY of Education  please find out why we trainees at the Namibia Institute of Mining and Technology don’t have a graduation?

Health Matters
*MINISTER Kamwi do nurses have any rights? At Onandjokwe hospital as an ordinary enrolled nurse you can’t raise any concerns and you can’t tell the truth.

*CAN the health inspectors of Rosh Pinah please investigate both Shoprite and Spar because they sell expired food (especially chicken) to the public.

Labour Issues
*MINISTRY of Education why are cleaners not getting the bush allowance? Are they not working in the bush like teachers? Please do something. Check it out!

*I HAVE been working at the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sports and Culture for years now and I have still not received an employment contract. And I am getting a salary of less than N$2 000. And they claim I’m a volunteer.  I’m a Namibian, I deserve better. And it’s not just me.

*PLEASE can the Minister of Education and the permanent secretary tell us the literacy promoters in Omaheke region when we are going to get our salaries for April and May?Whenever we ask we are told we must just wait. Until when are we going to wait for our salaries or can we go and ask His Excellency the President for them to be reshuffled?

Law and Order
*NAMIBIAN drug mule arrested in Cape Town. How do the police know that the drug mule is Namibian since she resides in South Africa?
Note: Information was provided by SA Police Services.
– News Desk

*PLEASE help I have been in custody in Walvis Bay for more than one year. Every time I go to court the judge postpones the case for plea and trial for unknown reasons. The investigation was already completed in July last year. This is the seventh time I have appeared in court.

Business as Usual
*DEVELOPMENT Bank of Namibia what do you mean with SME (small and medium sized business) loans? Because if you apply for an SME loan to expand your business, you are told your business does not have enough stock or a good sales record. My question is how will it have good sales if all stock is not available in the shop? And are you not there to help expand a business which has the potential to grow and create jobs, or is the bank there to help those who already have well developed businesses and make money out of them with interest.

City Fathers
*CITY of Windhoek when will Kornalyn Street, Khomasdal get a taxi rank as you promised last year during the taxi strike.

In and From the Regions
*ONDANGWA Nored why has Onamulunga B’s power  been off from 18h00 to 21h00 or more without warning for almost two weeks now? What is done on it during the night that cannot be done during the day.

*SHAME on the Otavi Saamstaan location that they have no public toilet. Please council make a plan for your own people during the rainy season and winter time. People have problems, especially the elderly.

City Fathers
*CITY of Windhoek why do the residents of Principe Street in Rocky Crest have to sit without electricity every night? If there is a problem, please fix it. We pay rates and taxes so we expect service. This is unacceptable.

Please Help
*MY name is Emmanuel Offem from Cross River State of Nigeria. Please help me connect to a brother whose name is Charly. His mother’s name is Heeno and relatives or friends are Tresia and Willika. Their last known address was at 11 Galen Street, Windhoek in 1994. (PO Box 8255). Their mother met my father who came for a peace keeping mission in 1990. The family here in Nigeria would like to unite with him and the mother. Contact phone number +23481390798889.

Sporting
*WHILE we celebrate and applaud the welcome victory of the Brave Warriors,  I can’t resist complaining about the time at which the game started! The Namibia Football Association should wake up from their slumber and follow in the footsteps of the South African Football Association who had their fixtures starting earlier than the Euro 2012 screenings to secure more gate money! (Regardless of the winter time change excuse). I believe the support of our locals would have been more if this past game against Kenya didn’t coincide with that of a Euro 2012 screening. I know that many of soccer lovers would agree with such arrangements.
