Food for Thought
*IT is disheartening and frustrating for an ordinary Namibian to see the looting by those entrusted with high positions! The President, as head of state, needs to walk the talk on zero tolerance of corrupt officials and act swiftly to stop this greedy individuals with no morals and self respect! We the youth of this country cannot be fooled any longer and we are the ones affected the most!
Bouquets and Brickbats
*FINDING so much water in the North is a blessing! The challenge is now to create a structure that makes the resource available to the people in this relatively densely populated area without them having to pay to central structures like NamWater and NamPower who will syphon off the long-term benefits. So people, go forward and create cooperatives, purchase solar pumps, cultivate your land and enjoy the wealth given to you by nature.
*ELECTRIFYING a dwelling is the beginning of improving the quality of life of lower income fellow citizens! Join me in making a monthly stop order to the Shack Dwellers Association!
– The Citizen
*EVERYONE is complaining about the City of Windhoek. Well, I for one, was one some time ago. I complained about the state of the sidewalks and never expressed my thanks when they were cleaned. Thank you guys! And now to restore the once beautiful flowerbeds around the main municipal building to its former glory.
*THE people’s government of Namibia is doing a splendid job of closing the illegal shebeens, at supersonic speed, for violating the law. Can the same government remove all the communal land fencing in Namibia at the same supersonic speed since this is a violation of the law? Or are some more equal than others?
ACC Alert
*WHAT is Namibia becoming? I am a Grootfontein resident and would like to ask, no to beg, the office of the Anti-Corruption Commission to send competent staff to investigate the office of works and resettlement ministries concerning the allocation of government houses.
Politics
*I WAS disgusted to learn that the government was issuing fines, on top of closing down the shebeens, without offering any alternatives to those who work in them. The opposition should see this as an opportunity to tell this electorate how they would have dealt with the situation, in order to get early votes instead of waiting for the election to come before they can sell their ideologies.
*SO the President’s family can donate classrooms in Ohangwena region without being criticised? Why is the Rally for Democracy and Progress president criticised by Swapo if he donates much needed materials to schools in the same region?
Law and Order
*NATIS Swakopmund is no different from Windhoek. Long queues from as early as 04h00 in the morning and only 30 people per day. Why not record all the people for the day and continue the next day with those who remained from the previous day.
Children of the Struggle
*PRESIDENT Pohamba you must order an immediate investigation into who ordered these ‘struggle kids’ to treated like this. The world is watching. And any one responsible must brought to book.
*IF the ‘struggle kids’ can sit in front of the government officers and get what they want, then all of us born-frees can do it. We work to make a living, why can’t they do it. I’m tired of hearing about them.
*THE government must look both sides if it helps the ‘struggle kids’. Our children also voted for them and are also unemployed.
*‘STRUGGLE kids’ or government blackmailers? Better yet, should we call them future government leeches? Please tell us how old these ‘kids’ are? Tell us whether the government has tried to educate these ‘kids’ for the past 22 years or not? If not, then we should do so. If we did then tell them to go and join the unemployment lines just like all the others.
*ENOUGH now with the ‘struggle kids’. They are an embarrassment to this country and those who fought for it. They want to go to Angola – let them! I will help pay to get them there.
A Place to Call Home
*DURING the colonial era our people had houses, even if small. In a free Namibia today houses are not affordable. That is why we are making houses from paper, plastic and wood without proper lighting. We burn to death when these shacks catch fire. After 22 years, colonialism cannot be blamed for loss of lives in these fires. Affordable housing please.
Education
*CAN the Minister Dr Iyambo please tell us teachers what the role of school principals and secretaries is, because these day they just sit in their offices.
*THE finance people at Namcol head office don’t care about the wellbeing of the tutors. Why does it take so long to pay us? We need feedback please.
Labour Issues
*PLEASE Social Security Commission officials when are you coming back to Okahandja! We need our cards.
*THE so-called connections for employment. Isn’t this corruption and an unjust distribution of jobs among individuals regardless of their merit. The Ministry of Labour should look into this system of knowing someone in the company for you to get a job. Or otherwise the pull of corruption will flow forever into the job market
City Fathers
*THE City of Windhoek is failing to upgrade the electricity supply in Hakahana. This has damaged many people’s appliances due to unannounced electricity cuts between 18h00 to 22h00 every day and some other times. We have tried to talk and ask the City for an upgrade but they say it is expensive. This a clear indication that Namibian development and wealth will remain unequal and the situation will persist for may years.
*AT Goreangab location we have a problem of electricity cut off every Monday to Thursday from 18h00 to 21h00 and we need the City of Windhoek to explain the cause because it only happens at night time. We do not cook any more, our kids no longer doing their homework. Criminal activities are high during these hours. Please address the matter as soon as possible
General
*I DON’T understand why planes in Namibia crash so easily. Is it the pilots or the planes which are not up to standard?
Lost and Found
*I PICKED up a driving licence for Ms N Nghilukilwa. Please call 081-368-0106 and bring any proof. Thanks.

*PARCEL Force Namibia. Why do you keep our parcels in transit for more than seven days to Oranjemund? Please sort out the Benguela issue. Give us discount on those parcels.
Responses to recent SMSes
*IT’S not about helping to type, it’s the duty of a school secretary to type teachers’ exercises, question papers and summaries. You are only helping if it’s private things for the teacher.
– School Secretary.
*I DO not agree that the ‘’government endorses tribal leaders’’. They are traditional leaders in a traditional authority!
*WHILE one cannot fault Hengari for insisting on a disconnect between the personal choices, life and background of PM Angula, and the public office he holds, one is baffled by the details he (as public commentator) provides in his opening paragraph. It includes the number of pages, language of his dissertation and professional background. Are these ‘aspects of his life’ relevant to his column?
*THE SMS raising concern about the general secretaries of the unions. The blame falls on all of us and not the central executives committee members. What are we, as their salary payers, doing? Why can we not stand up and demand what is right for us? Those leaders know that they are leading fools. Take the example of the Government Intitutions Pensions Fund. Why did all the over 90 000 members not support the public servants committee? We could have made a change, rather than wasting our taxpayers funds for this delay of the GIPF saga. Let’s join hands and do what we failed to do. Fire those we pay to organise until we are happy with our affairs.
