SMS Of The Day *HOW can the City of Windhoek blame population growth for their failure to deliver affordable land and municipal services? The city currently has only about 320 000 residents yet you call that population explosion? My own observation is that the city is being mismanaged by people who lack vision. Now they are increasing service fees all of a sudden because they failed to plan the city’s infrastructure well in advance! Let us be proactive managers please!

*GWEN Lister you have said a lot since you started your ‘Political Perspective’. It is now high time to go to parliament and open up all those blind minds we put in power for 22 years. We are ready to cast the ballots to get even one seat. I expected the president to appoint you among those six non-voting members but he failed. I know that you may not be interested but please do it for the sake of your people, us – the sufferers! Tupopila!
*I WAS at the library in Otjiwarongo on Monday. The staff were so friendly and helped me with my project in no time. Thanks and and keep it up. I wish all people were like you.
*DEAR Carmel Rickard I consider your article against Leah Shaanika biased. It is clear that you only reported what you heard or read in the newspapers.Why don’t you report what Shaanika said in her defence? Do you have the full transcripts of the disciplinary hearings? Do you know about the plotting and scheming against the magistrate that has been going on for many years? Are you insinuating that the Chief Justice is incompetent or unethical? Leave the Minister of Justice alone. Contrary to what you say she has done a good job promoting the interest of justice. Why don’t you write about the magistrate who calls black people baboons? Or the one swearing at another magistrate in front of his subordinates? Not interesting enough I presume?
*I LEFT N$13 in my car at (name supplied) car wash. When I collected the car it was gone. A good test which shows which companies we can trust with our cars.

Law and Order
*HENDRINA Haufiku lost her house because she was married in community of property. It’s high time churches and society stop imposing marriages in community of property.
*HENDRINA Haufiku and the lost house! Why did this hardworking mother of five put her house in the name of a husband who’d rather buy a car than a house? Desperation! Some Namibian women are desperate to have a partner to the extent that these so-called partners take advantage of them! I hope Hendrina’s case is a learning curve for the rest out there!
*A LEGAL practitioner commits fraud against the High Court and gets a suspended sentence! What a joke! No wonder the justice system is in a shambles!
n A SLAP on the wrist for a lawyer who was blatantly dishonest towards the High Court 10 years later! This will open a floodgate of dishonesty if there is no timeous punishment for this behaviour. Ironically the courts will suffer most at the end of the day not knowing which lawyer to trust. They now received a free ticket to deceive the High Court.
*VIVA Conradie you empower the people. Just a pity that you empower the already rich ones. Why not the poorer ones, like unemployed youths.
*STILL one question remains about the Conradie saga which no one seems to ask. What was the kickback going to be? And for whom?
*MR President I have noticed that most crimes, murders and many other horrible things normally or mostly happen at month-end. Can you please at least adjust paydays so that not everyone gets their money only at month-end.
*BY law you need a helmet when cycling or riding a motorbike. If travelling in a car, you must wear your safety belt. However, it is OK to transport your employees on the back of an open truck to and from work – with no safety measures whatsoever.
Without Fear or Favour
*CITIZEN Angula said ‘I am tjaela’ meaning that he will not take up any senior government or political position when the current run expires. Suddenly, he says he is willing to contest elections for presidency of the ruling Swapo Party and consequently to become president of Namibia. Alfredo Hengari stated this in his column. Next thing Nahas Angula asks Hengari for evidence that supports Hengari's assertion that the PM is erratic and chaotic. So much for a founding Minister of Education (and literacy)?
*I REALLY pity Citizen or Comrade or Prime Minister Nahas Angula. Comrade instead of advising Hengari who can do much better without your ‘wisdom’, please realise that those who encourage you to vie for the presidency, and who make you believe that Hengari is your enemy, certainly do not have your best interest at heart. They are busy feeding you piece by piece to crocodiles and your reactions are testimony to that. Brother just ‘tjaela’ and spare yourself more humiliation.
Youth
*BIRDS of a feather flock together. Some (maybe not all) members of the team that invited Malema to insult the stellar legacy of the late Hawala fit this idiom, because they are tenderpreneurs who use the youth only as fodder for individual self-enrichment. Is it hard to understand why the youth never gets taken seriously both in the ruling party and in society in general? Because they choose leaders who in turn do not take them ( the youth) seriously.
*MALEMA and his supporters trumpet his right to free speech, but no way was his speech going to be for free.
Money Talks
*IF the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Namibia is a voluntary body, who actually regulates auditors? Where do I go to if an auditor assisted a company to make a false presentation in its financial statements? I was told that the statutory regulator of auditors (PAAB) has not existed since 2007.
*NAMIBIA Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (Namfisa) is notorious for not being able to assist complainants from pension funds. Their statistics on claims ‘resolved’ are also dubious. And they claim to be prohibited from providing information, required by pension fund members, to pursue civil cases against funds and administrators. Namfisa always has an excuse for not being able to help. We pay your levies! What is the Ombudsman doing to help our helpless consumers?
Education
*IT’S very good news to hear that our Minister of Education Dr Abraham Iyambo is back at work. I wish you good luck, energy and more strength. Hard works never kills. The Almighty has been with you and I will always be with you.

*DEAR Minister Abraham Iyambo welcome back. I just want to ask you to make the community library your number one priority. Study space in the centre of town is zero.
*I HEARTILY join all well wishers in welcoming the Minister of Education Dr Abraham Iyambo back to work. I have one piece of advice: please stop mimicking celebrities. Work as a team with senior staff at headquarters and regions. Wishing you good health.
Labour Issues
*LLD Namibia retrenches the entire workforce! This is 150 individuals being sent to the streets! Our government is continuously failing us the youth of this country. As shareholders in the NDTC they could have intervened and rescued the situation. We know the politics behind the NDTC refusal to grant a new contract to LLD and it’s not fair to the employees.
*MANY teachers have not yet received their PAYE 5 certificate for tax return submission purposes. Who is failing who!
City Fathers
*CITY Fathers, every year during your budget speeches you say you explored all alternatives and are left with no other option than to increase the tariffs. What are those other alternatives you have explored? Please tell us.
In and From the Regions
*RUNDU Town Council can you please tell us when you will bring water and electricity to Ndama opposite Kakove. All the taps are out of order. We do not even take baths. It’s so unhealthy. We are beyond suffering! Tell us the truth if you are not bringing the services!
Sporting
*IF our priorities were right 21 years ago, we could have produced hundreds of self-sustaining professional sportsmen and women through local sports academies. But instead of investing in those areas, we don’t like to listen as usual and now must face the consequences and squarely face the mushrooming shebeens.
