Food for Thought
*I CANNOT understand our brave Namibian compatriots. All complain about poverty and unemployment. The moment they obtain work, they want to strike. Do Namibians really want to work, or do they only want to get paid? Please explain this to me.
Corruption
*CORRUPTION in Namibia, making headlines and all we ever read about! When will this madness stop? Don’t these greedy, devilish scumbags have anything constructive to do other than stealing money they didn’t earn? Stop infesting our nation with your sickening acts! May the Lord have mercy.

*THE Anti-Corruption Commission must investigate corruption at the Ministry of Defence (human resource office). The children of the employees who are working in the HR office are appointed without any qualifications. They are appointed only because their mothers and fathers are working in the HR office. Here husbands and wives, sons and daughters are all working together in one office. The HR office at the Ministry of Defence is now a family business.
Bouquets and Brickbats
*I WENT to the finance office in Oshakati on Tuesday and got service that I get very rarely up here. After the help I received I thought it through and realised that the lady didn’t do anything special. She really just did her job but that’s something you don’t get on a regular basis. Thank you Alma, I appreciate your service. To the rest of the public servants follow this example. We don’t ask for a lot, just do your job and yes with a smile ya!
*WE need more people like James Hansen in the land of the brave. Thanks a lot Hansen. I am 100 per cent against corruption and fully in support of Hansen’s awareness campaign. Time is long gone of no action by our leaders. Action speaks louder than words. Act now.

Politics
*THE squabbles with in Swapo are about members who want high positions in the run-up to the ruling party’s next elective conference. These members are fighting for their own benefits and not out of the desire to deliver service to the people. Namibia needs to be saved from such people. We need leaders who can deliver, to fight corruption, nepotism and all evils which drag our people into poverty, not more parasites. Sadly nobody among those who are aspiring to become president qualifies.
*PRESIDENT praising Chinese generosity. How naive can that be? There is no such notion as Chinese generosity.
*I AM disappointed that my party and my youth leader Elijah Ngurare did not mention a word about the sufferings of the Swazi people when you heard that their King (due respect to his monarchy) is coming to Namibia. His teachers are not even paid. I will stay a loyal Swapo member, like my late brother Hansie Partenbach and my late father. All I just want to say is that I am tired about the reluctance of my party to accept that we also made a mistake with affirmative action. I am tired and angry. Nobody will kick me out of Swapo. I am a member since 1985. My name is Easter Paul Partenbach from Okahandja who is now living in Oranjemund. I love my party and my country. But we should work for the betterment of the less fortunate.
Law and Order
*PASTOR allegedly rapes a young girl and gets bail quickly. It shows that our judicial system is very sick. I wonder with how many women of his church the Pastor slept with already. A big shame.
From the regions
*WHO has more authority or power at the Village Council in Tses? The staff manipulate this council. They come to work whenever they want, take leave whenever they want, and go every Friday to Keetmanshoop. They closed the office and went to a funeral without consulting the CEO and the council on July 17. On the 16th they refused to sell water and electricity and since then the CEO is rendering these services to the community.
*IT is the duty of the Municipality to enforce the building regulations. Yet the Swakopmund Municipality does nothing about the waterfront development. The whole thing stinks of corruption. The Town Council is a disgrace.
*WHAT is the need for having a land board in Kavango Region? The representative of the Lands and Resettlement Ministry in this region always autocratically dominates in every meeting. He is the one who takes decisions and the members have to agree to everything he says.
*I AM unhappy with the sale of erven in Otjiwarongo. Until when will we keep on renting while we qualify to buy an erf to start building our houses for the future of our kids? I saw in Friday’s The Namibian that Swakopmund is selling 120 erven. Why also not in Otjiwarongo? If you go to the Municipality to inquire they will tell you a month but when that time comes, it is extended again. What is that? We are sick and tired.
Education
*SCHOOLS use computers and copy machines for administrative work, reports, ETSIP forms to be completed annually and also sports and cultural activities to be carried out. Able parents refuse to contribute the school development funds and run to directors. Some directors don’t know what’s going on at schools because they just organise workshops and can’t even send advisors or inspectors to schools. In some regions the teachers don’t know their inspectors. Where do we want to take education if parents are not encouraged to take ownership by the directors? Please regional education office managers, you fail the Government. Get up and do your work or ship out.

*DEAR Minister Abraham Iyambo, please make time to meet with the grade 12s when you come to Da-Palm school on Friday. A productive Namibian’s education is at risk.

*NAMIBIAN people let’s respect vocational training centres in our country. Stop mentioning ‘Struggle Kids’ and vocational centres in same breath. They can go to Unam, Polytech of Namibia, colleges of education and other institutions in this country. Respect artisans who are being produced by vocational centres.
War Veterans
*IS it really fair for the Ministry of Veterans Affairs to force us war veterans to apply for projects while we live in a ghetto? Can’t they give us at least N$100 000 to buy houses while the rest can be used on projects? The ghettos in Windhoek have been demolished and we are expecting that to happen here with us in Walvis Bay. I am 55 years old and the remaining five years is too little time for me build up my life to the fullest. So I am appealing to you my Government to re-think and give us a chance to enjoy the little years that is left in a house and not in a ghetto.

Labour Issues
*DEPUTY Minister of Safety and Security: You are concerned about the discipline of the members of the Police but you are not saying a word about our salaries. How can we be disciplined while we are hungry? It is impossible.
*NAVACHAB mine workers: I think you must be reasonable with your demands. To have your increases backdated to January 1 is too much. You will push your own company to bankruptcy.
*IT’S about time the Anti-Corruption Commission take Namibia Airports Company management and board members to task. All those who were involved should be investigated and brought to justice. That was corruption which should not be left unchallenged. Set an example, lock up thieves.
Service Please
*PERMANENT secretary of Lands: We the former under-developed famers (about 10) are waiting for about three months now for you to go and see Agribank management in connection with our agri loan applications. Is that service delivery?
*WHY are only certain people empowered in Namibia? We all know them because we are a very small population. Others are left to get poorer and poorer, because they don’t have a strong balance sheet. We can’t blame the lawmakers but the implementing agencies like Agribank and Development Bank of Namibia. How on earth can an application be assessed for six plus months?
*CITY of Windhoek, we are struggling at Soweto market in connection with the pre-paid electricity machine. We cant use the new notes, help us.
Lost and Found
*MY name is Denise Hamases. I lost my school bag in the taxi. I am at Suiderhof Primary School. Can you please contact my mom at 0812900065 or leave my bag at the school thanks.
Responses to SMS
*I would like to respond to an SMS in today’s (25/07/2012) paper “ Minister of Safety and Security please visit Rehoboth Police Station and see the cars used”. Firstly, I would like to correct the author that the current Minister of Safety and Security is Honourable Nangolo Mbumba. Secondly, transport is and has been a problem for the Namibian Police Force. However, the force is not lax when it comes to service delivery to our communities. We have learned to manage with the limited resources at our disposal. Our budget for the current financial year was cut with about N$500 million. As such we have put some projects on hold and cut on some of the items that we were supposed to purchase during the current financial year. We were supposed to purchase 1000 vehicles but due to the budget cut we are only going to acquire about one hundred Vehicles and the distribution thereof, will be done accordingly. The author must please bear with us and so we urge communities, countrywide, to assist the Police in the execution of their duties.
