SMSes for Friday 27 July 2012

SMS Of The Day *PLEASE would somebody do something about the current situation at NaTIS Valley? We the clients deserve better. There should be a management change!

Food for Thought
*I ENVY people who are happy at work no matter how little they get paid. I get a huge salary plus I stay in a company house but am so unhappy at work. When my boss is in a bad mood, which is almost every day, then all hell breaks loose. On three out of five weekdays, I don’t want to wake up for work but my kids depend on me.

Bouquets and Brickbats
*THANK you Minister of Education Abraham Iyambo for planning to reduce schoolgirl pregnancies. Your plan should cater for all parents using these underage girls.

*WHILST understanding the need for construction works at the B6/MR 53 junction at Kapps Farm, I find the removal of all information signs at this point absolutely ridiculous. This is now causing serious confusion for visitors and tourists trying to reach places such as the Airport Lodge, Midgard, N/a’ankuuse and other destinations across the Seeis River, especially at night. Why did the Ministry of  Works not put up temporary signs along the B6 a few 100 metres away from this junction before they removed the other signs?

*WELL done Witvlei Village chief executive officer for checking and repairing all the street lights to save on electricity. The next step is to work on existing boreholes and get donations for  solar pumps to reduce the NamPower and NamWater bills.

*CORRUPTION in Namibia is making headlines and is all we ever read about! When will this madness stop? Don’t these greedy  devilish people have anything constructive to do other than stealing money they didn’t earn? Stop infesting our nation with your sickening acts! May the Lord have mercy.

*WHY does The Namibian newspaper no longer report on or publish the weather forecast for Windhoek?

*WHY are the Windhoek temperatures not stated on page 2 anymore?
Note: Apologies. We are following up why we have not received the Windhoek figures.

Politics
*I AM a proud Swapo member. But lately our leaders have been disappointing. They should in fact be pillars of hope, commitment and trust. I fear for my country yet all you hear is infighting amongst themselves for personal gain. Who will fight for the little person struggling on a N$500 pension, no water, no food, no hope, and worst of all, no land to call home in his/her own beloved country.

City Fathers
*TRAFFIC Department please give traffic a decent and safe right-turn chance into Jan Jonker Street at the St Paul’s traffic lights!

In and From the Regions
*DOES the councillor for Okahandja ever have meetings with the community? If so where are they held? Please we also want to raise our concerns and problems. We voted for you, just keep us in mind.

Law and Order
*IT’S clear that most road accidents are caused by complacency and negligence on the roads. People should change their attitudes because chance takers are accident makers!

Education
*JAN Möhr High, the winter is almost over and our matriculants are still waiting for their jackets.
– Concerned parent

*HOW can the bank account of a big school like Leevi Senior Secondary School be closed because there is no money? Auditors please pay a visit to this school in Kavango.
– Concerned parent

*IS the Minister of Education Dr Abraham Iyambo aware of the delays at the salary office in Oshikoto? We haven’t received all the benefits that we are entitled to. Salary offices need urgent surprise visits, not only schools.

*DR Abraham Iyambo,  do you know that our children at Moses Aihalu Primary School in Outapi circuit, Omusati Region, are being taught in sheds and tents ? What is wrong with the planning division in Omusati?

Health Matters
*CAN the management of Andara Catholic hospital do something about the dirty water that is flowing into our river. If not the health inspectors must close the hospital.
Labour Issues

Labour Issues
*WE at (name supplied) Security always get our pay late.We have children, we pay rent and buy food. Ministry of Labour please intervene!

A Place to Call Home
*THREE-BEDROOM apartments from N$1 000 000 in Rocky Crest? The Windhoek property market has gone off the scale!

NBC
*NBC must educate the nation, via all the radio stations, to refrain from throwing their paper, plastic and beer bottles out of a moving vehicle. It pollutes the environment and is a danger to animals.

Service Please
*BANK charges are killing us small businesses. This month I withdrew about N$300 000 and I was slapped with N$ 5 200 in bank charges. This is really upsetting and very discouraging. I don’t think I will deposit back this money. Can someone with a lot of money come up with more banks please and assist us with affordable banking? The charges are just unimaginably high.

*NEDBANK Namibia please start providing services like other banks, for example, debit and bank cards that reflect transactions immediately and not after a few days and reduced bank costs/charges. Banking costs are very high for us ordinary salary earners. We also need more Nedbank branches in each region.

*THE Blackberry Internet service from MTC is so frustrating. I have no connection  at least three times a day. When it is time to pay, it works smoothly but when it is time for service it is all so inefficient.

*OUTSURANCE Namibia  you provide us with a Namibian number but when we ring the call is transferred to your call centre in South Africa. I spoke to a certain Phumzile. Who is paying for this international call and why is there no help desk/call centre in Namibia?

Responses to recent SMSes

*ON discipline in schools. The Minister of Education should come up with strict measures to curb this evil among our learners. Parents should teach their children to respect  adults/elders. Too many children’s rights have affected the wellbeing of our children and are destroying our future generation! Now teachers are being blamed for the failure of learners,  but evidence is there why these learners are failing. The truth is that discipline is the mother of success. Stop blaming teachers.
