SMS Of The Day *WHAT is going on in the Ministry of Agriculture Water and Forestry? Scandal after scandal is revealed by the media: illegal logging, allegedly corrupt officials, Brazilian tractors procured without tender, dysfunctional dairy farm and so on. It is time for the President to intervene to save our forests and food production.
Food for Thought
*SISEHO Simasiku’s ‘strategies’ for cheaper electricity make no sense. Inevitably if the government has to subsidise local authority surcharges, taxes will go up, bringing the cost back to the consumer. Here’s the better solution: scrap the REDs.
Bouquets and Brickbats
*I APPLAUD the Prime Minister for responding to my question regarding the electrification of shacks.Other public office bearers should do the same and respond to the people’s queries. Thank you sir, I didn’t expect it.
*PRIME Minister I see you have now diverted your views about the ‘struggle kids’ in the right direction compared to the previous comments you made. Now you have told them there are no jobs in the public service and they must acquire skills first. I agree but can you elaborate how will you personally assist them to get their skills? If there is a shortcut to getting a skill that I want to acquire, then I can also submit my name to you for assistance?
*THANK Prime Minister Nahas Angula for telling the ‘struggle kids’ that God helps those who help themselves. I was born in 1981, also before Independence, did not come from a wealthy home and worked my way up.
*I SALUTE Commander Shilongo for a great job! Alcohol is just causing more poverty and problems. Close the illegal shebeens. We are tired and want a better future for our children! Good job Sir!
*BRAVO Commissioner Festus Shilongo, the non-compromising police commander of Khomas Region, the son of the soil, defender of the oath. Keep up the good work. Clean our country of the criminals.

*A BIG round of applause to the NBC boss Albertus !Aochamub for standing up in defence of his staff against the minister.
*THE Cancer Care Centre does wonders for sufferers despite the broken-down equipment that cannot be repaired because no service delivery plan was ever in place. The staff work for at least 12 hours each day just to treat people. Some poorer in-patients have to forgo their meals just to fit into the queue for treatment. Mr Kamwi you have failed in your responsibilities and deserted the seriously ill.
*ALCOHOL abuse, especially in young people, has become a big problem in our ‘Land of the Brave’. I urge our lawmakers and law enforcement to continue the good work.

*NAMIBIA ‘Land of the Brave’ is full of rich resources like gold, diamonds, uranium, copper,cement, oil, gas and many precious gems etc. So why do we have half the population living in ‘abject, total, disgusting poverty? Answers are needed now!
Children of the Struggle
*THE story as it all unfolded by Selma Shipanga almost brought me to tears. You don’t send in riot police to deal with people who have been protesting peacefully for a month! This is police brutality at best, if not madness! In the picture I notice officers carrying guns. For God’s sake why? Oh I forgot, police brutality has been part of the force a long time. It may not be policy but it happens like it did at party headquarters. Stop beating down on the people, whoever those people may be. Serve and protect.
*I DON’T understand this thing with the ‘struggle kids’. What did they do to deserve jobs and money? They are not the ones who went into exile for this country; it was their parents, not them. We all suffered and them suing the government is like suing yourself. The government is the country and we all have rights not only the ‘struggle kids’.
*THE ‘struggle kids’ may be irritating but they have to be respected as human beings. Is it really difficult to convince them to do things differently?
*PEOPLE like Nahas Angula and Martin Shalli are the ones responsible for the bad behaviour of these ‘kids’ by telling them they are so special, whereas they are not. What poor leaders.
*THE ‘struggle kids’ must stop misbehaving. Who are you to claim jobs? Go to school and be like other children. Police do your work.
*OH these ‘struggle kids’. Can they not get themselves another name, a proper one. Or do they not know there is something in a name? As long as they continue to regard themselves as ‘struggle kids’ they will struggle for the rest of their lives!
Business as Usual
*UVHUNGU-Vhungu dairy farm should rather be taken over by Ohlthaver & List instead of ending up as ‘white elephants’ because a lot of taxpayer’s funds will be wasted.
Health Matters
*WHY is the Ministry of Health not providing nurses with uniforms? Is it because our seniors, at both national and regional levels, don’t wear uniforms unlike in other uniformed units such as the Namibia Defence Force, Police and Prisons or where is the problem? The ministry should also stop awarding uniform tenders to incompetent tenderers. Please Minister Nchabi R Kamwi help us, we are tired!

Labour Issues
*TO the strikers at Navachab: you are a disgrace to the world. An eight per cent increase not enough. You get 100 per cent medical aid, housing or a housing allowance, full school fees for three children per family, free water and a lot of free units of electricity per month etc etc. While there is so much unemployment and hunger around us, you are greedy and ungrateful. You should go onto your knees and thank the Almighty for what you have. You put us Namibians to shame. Pack your stuff and leave. There are more than enough jobless people out there who are more than willing and able to take your positions.
*SHAME on you Alfred Angula calling yourself a trade unionist, but you don’t practise what you preach. What kind of a leader are you. The workers at the Namibian Food and Allied Workers Union deserve their salaries especially those that you have retrenched without even knowing what your own constitution says regarding that. Who do you want to fool? Comrade, you just shot yourself in the foot...
*IF the government is unable to provide jobs for the few ‘struggle kids’ or ‘special kids’ as some call them, then I pity the hundreds of shebeen operators who are going to find themselves on the streets soon.
Sporting
*I AM surprised by the step-out wear of our athletes for the Olympic Games. This is West African attire. Can we seriously not design our own Namibian cultural attire that will distinguish us from other nations and promote out own identity? We are blessed with so many cultures in Namibia and we have cultural institutions to help with this process.

*SOME Schools in Erongo are still using corporal punishment. Please Dr Iyambo where can we report these teachers?
Corporal Punishment is prohibited by the Education Act under Section 56, Subsection 1 and by our national Constitution under Chapter 3 Sub-Section 2B. Please report cases of corporal punishment to your regional office; nearest education office, circuit office or Office of the Inspector of Education alternatively to the chairperson of the school board.
*MINISTRY of Education some of us are afraid we might be owing our institutions without knowing whether we were granted loans. The reason is that we never got our letters telling us we are being awarded or not. Please we need to know where we stand.
We have put up lists of successful candidates at every institution of higher learning; those on that list are the candidates awarded loans at the moment. Thank you
