Food for Thought
*LOOKING at the Olufuko picture on page 26 in Monday’s The Namibian took me 40 years back and reminds me of how similar the Herero culture is to the Oshiwambo culture. As a child, I wore almost the same attire, we called them ‘omitjira’ and we also applied the red ore called ‘Otjize’. Stop the divide and rule between these two tribes, they are related.
*EVERYONE knew Lazarus Shaduka was due to be sentenced on the day he crossed the border. Why didn’t the border officials keep him whilst making enquiries on the court decision? Their carelessness will lead to the Government hunting him down. Why should any suspect roam free and not appear in court for his/her hearing? Change that and save money instead of running after convicted people.
*I DON’T have a problem with Polytechnic of Namibia becoming a university. The teachers training colleges also became part of a university. But are there new colleges or polytechnics in the making? Does this mean Namibia only has universities? It does not make sense at all.
*TO all Polytechnic management, please don’t consider the issue of converting the institution into a university because we see you as an umbrella for all the vocational training centres. Who will lend the vocational training centre assistance? Think before you act.
*IF a person is awaiting jail time but needs to fetch something at home, they should be accompanied by police officers! For Lazarus Shaduka it must be a morning time trick but everyone is almost awake.
Bouquets and Brickbats
*SO the SPYL has nothing better to ask for? Instead of asking the Government to invest in youth development they are asking for a statue of former President Sam Nujoma? Why are African youth so narrow-minded?
*MINISTRY of Veterans Affairs, the lack of feedback seems to indicate that you lack the capacity to deal with the bulk of proposals presented by the veterans. Please do the right thing and pay out so that we can rebuild our lives and homesteads otherwise some of the old folk might be dead by the time you decide to act.
*HOME Affairs Ministry is the worst ministry in the whole world. How is it possible that a confirmation letter for a Namibian takes more than five weeks to be finalised? No wonder we run out off passport books. Something has to be done urgently or we await a total collapse of this ministry!
*THE staff members of Peppercorn Grill and Steakhouse in Windhoek served a meal to 104 children and their caregivers from the SOS Children’s Village in Khomasdal instead of having a year-end staff party. That was a brilliant idea for the staff to remember the plight of the less fortunate people in the society. That conviction is a demonstration we have to make, thinking outside the box when planning our activities. Well done again Peppercorn and Steakhouse staff.
*SO human resource consultants earn between eight and 10 thousand dollars a day? What planet do these people live on? This is laughable. What a rip off. But it is the people who pay them who are the fools. It’s easy to spend other people’s money. I bet banks, parastatals and government are their best customers.
*LAZARUS Shaduka, you can run but will you be able to hide for the rest of your life! Advice; surrender, pretend you went for business to Angola, juju won’t help you. Have faith in God and ask for his forgiveness and sit your deserved 20 years, finish and klaar!
*YO! I am extremely happy and moved by the new Oshakati concept. This is what we want in Namibia. We need strategic thinkers who use their God given visualisation skills for the benefit of the people. Viva Martha Amupolo and your entire team. Kavango and Caprivi should follow suit in projects of this nature.
*ARE the Namibian Police and City Police not trained to seal off the crime scene? People walk all over and contaminate crime scenes.
*IT took three hours to clear the Namibian border, at Buitepos between 13h00 to15h00, on Sunday December 16. There was only one person on duty for 100 visitors and they were unfriendly as hell. This is not good for Namibia.
*SPYL leave our founding president alone. He did not ask for a statue. His face is printed on the money, has streets named after him, houses, stadiums and titles. Don’t be copy cats of the South Africans. Focus on the youth’s agenda. Think of eradicating poverty, housing, land, education and jobs for the youth.
Education
*FACULTY officers at Unam, we are waiting for the status of our applications. According to the newspaper, the closing date is December 18. I am calling the number of the faculty officer since last week but there is no reply. The bursars need admission letters, please.
*NTERNATIONAL Lingua Training College, we need our results to be ready for supplementary examinations in January 2013. You are not fair. When students don’t pay, you chase them from classes but we paid our accounts and you are still keeping our results.
*POLYTECHNIC ‘University’ of Namibia, students are tired of your systems being down. We can’t view our results for days now.
Suggestion Box
*UNAM Northern Campus must build a hostel for student nurses. Most of us don’t have families in Oshakati. We have nowhere to stay due to the renovation of the nurses home for enrolled nurses. Something must be done urgently!
*ROADS Authority, please do something about the small loose rocks on the road between Mariental and Kalkrand. It’s the second time that my wind screen has been damaged by oncoming traffic, please.
*TO the residents of Grysblok, wake up! The thieves are busy, they are monitoring and breaking into houses. I was almost a victim this weekend. Close your windows and doors. It’s not a joke!
*I HAVE a good idea for the youth league who want Sam Nujoma’s statue in the centre of town. Since we still have to increase salaries for civil servants, why not take the unknown soldier at Heroes Acre and erect it since it is the same person. It will save a lot more. How about that?
Service Please
*BAD, bad, bad client service at FNB easy loan Independence Avenue, Levinson Arcade! To all the branch managers of easy loans, I am one of your loyal clients and was never treated and humiliated like this in my life. A staff member who told me that she is not the bank, shouting at me like I am a child for goodness sake. I am a client and I don’t want special treatment, only a little respect. Please look into this or you will lose more clients. You just lost one. Thank you.
*NAMIBIA Business School please get serious! Other tertiary Institutions like IUM and Polytechnic have all their exam results online. Your so-called Unam Online Portal is forever showing the same information. We need our results please! Upgrade your pathetic services!
Labour
*FRANS Kapofi, please give your number to the newspapers. We don’t know your number. Thank you.
*WHAT a shock I got when I opened page two of The Namibian of November 17 and read the ridiculous article about civil servants’ back pay. How is it possible that the New Era published an article to the contrary on Friday December 15? Frans Kapofi, do you have any idea how many people’s hopes of not having another ‘hungry festive season’ you’ve just killed while you sit in your air-conditioned office and earn a ridiculous salary? Don’t you dare tell us not to threaten you with a strike, and don’t you dare tell us to be patient. Patience never filled an empty stomach!
*FRANS Kapofi and Government doesn’t care about the hungry civil servants! Instead of asking us to call you, rather publish the information publicly so that we can know when we’ll have our money. We don’t have the money to call you, let alone to buy food. Get real!
*I THINK Frans Kapofi does not know what he is talking about. How can a hungry person be calm and patient, he must stop playing tricky politics. We need our money to feed ourselves and families. It must be paid out before Christmas otherwise our turn will come. Be warned. We are also Namibians.
*WHEN will the teachers who defied the court by illegal protesting be charged with contempt of court? We want to see the high court taking action before the school re-opens next January.
*DEAR Prime Minister, why should the government give Members of Parliament a 36 percent salary increment and give eight percent to the poor civil servants. Why should the Government tolerate inequalities of distribution of the resources between poor and rich? This will just force civil servants to go on strike. Government should address this problem.

In and From the Regions
*WE need a Natis office in the Omusati Region.
*OMARURU Municipality, Christiaan Erike Zeraaua Street needs speed bumps, even the traffic officers use it as a race track (driving too fast). So make a plan before it becomes a death road.
