Food for Thought
*HOW would NBC’s migration from analogue to digital broadcasting impact on the mandatory TV licence fees? Will we all be forced to buy NBC decoders, and if not, why or how could one be expected to pay for a TV licence if one opts against acquiring an NBC decoder?
*NAMPOL must pursue Lazarus Shaduka. I believe, any trial awaiting convict without option of a fine is supposed to be in custody. Did Shaduka escape? ACC please investigate.
Bouquets and Brickbats
*IT would have been nice to also see the Minister of Information reading his speech from a tablet at the NBC/DTT launch instead of an irritating and crumpled piece of paper. The NBC DG did so. Well done DG. Please take the lead Minister Joel Kaapanda, it was really unprofessional if not embarrassing. You spoiled a big moment for the NBC with your paper, please take the lead and also introduce the tablet to your fellow MPs.
*IT’S time for both coaches of the Mighty Gunners to go. It seems they don’t know what to do anymore.
*I AM glad that NDF got Nahas Angula as minister. Hopefully you will fulfill your promises. Look to the welfare of soldiers. This should be your biggest priority as you reconstruct the NDF. Members must have houses and a danger allowance must be given to all personnel. The salary of members must also be improved. Hopefully you will rescue the situation.
n POOR service is the order of the day at Home Affairs yet, the requirements for management positions have been relaxed to give those who regard this Ministry as their personal property to continue providing poor service. These positions should be frozen and readvertised to give those who qualify a fair chance to apply. Home Affairs needs new ideas and direction otherwise it is a sinking ship.
*THANKS Imke Rust for your persistance, love for your country and for enlightening us on the concern for our coastal areas and environment, currently being destroyed by multi-national companies, with no due consideration of the untold damage and dire consequences to our future generations. Keep it up!
*CITY of Windhoek, the portion of road you have just rehabilitated in Florence Nightingale Street is a total mess, to say the least. I fail to understand why you resort to the use of sub-standard material and poor workmanship. Drive on that road and experience the rubbish you produced.
*IN a daily paper on Friday was an article, ‘RECLAIMING AFRICA HAIR’. That was 100 percent true. I’m proud of Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and Joan Guriras who I’ve never seen with fake hair! Proud leaders they truly are.
*HOME Affairs really needs new ideas. The PS is not advised properly. Self interest is the order of the day and part of management. We need fresh legs. Strategic plans are gathering dust in the offices. Open the positions for everybody to apply with a competent and transparent team to foresee the filling of these positions. We are in the ICU in all areas here.
*HOW can President Hifikepunye Pohamba give a speech about Road Safety? His drivers never obey traffic rules! President lead by example instead of preaching what you don’t practice, please.
*WE would like someone to tell us the exact fare to be paid between Otjiwarongo and Okakarara? Paying N$80 and N$150 from Windhoek to Okakarara is too much. Please Nabta help us out.
Education
*MINISTER of Education, tell Unam to pay students’ refunds otherwise we parents will march for your removal. Please Abraham Iyambo, make an effort. Your time is limited.
*WHEN will the Director of Education in the Erongo Region notify us at which school our Grade 1s in Walvis Bay are admitted for next year?
Suggestion Box
*IF we are to change the name Katutura then we must also change the others like Wanaheda which stands for (Wa) Wambos, (Na) Namas, (He) Hereros and (Da) Damaras.
*MINISTRY of Finance, please give us our eight percent pay increase before the world ends on December 21.
*PEOPLE who kill with cars through reckless driving should be charged with murder as there is no difference between killing with a gun or a car.
*NBC, if we want one Namibia, one nation then we should not have any party politics on the news! Have a separate timeslot for any matters related to party politics. At present you just divide the nation more.
*NBC, for your three channels from 2013 I suggest a channel for sports and culture, another for politics, news, dialogues, documentaries etc., and a third channel for kids and families; just movies, soapies, dramas, detective series’ etc.
*MINISTER Abraham Iyambo, please arrange with directors in all regions to reshuffle principals! That way you’ll see who are really working at schools and changes can be made at low performing schools.
Service Please
*MINISTRY of Works, garden division, please tend to the grass in front of Alte Feste Educational Museum. Many visitors go there daily. The image of the Ministries of Education and Works are tarnished because of that.
Politics
*A FEMALE president for 2018: Former Deputy Prime Minister Libertina Amadhila or Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. They’ve proved they truly care about the country and all her people and not only people of their party! Let’s nominate them.
In and From the Regions
*OMARURU Municipality, your Build Together project is becoming even worse. It seems that we have to kneel for help and every now and then you hear that a certain person is out of office and we are waiting for long hours for no good reason. Some personnel look at people like we are borrowing money personally from them. If the project belongs to a certain individual, let him inform us please. We cannot beg someone to do his or her work for which he or she is paid.
*THE police in Tsumeb are getting paid for nothing because if you have a problem at the bar and you phone them, they take hours! Or if you tell them what the commissioner told us in the meeting they say, “ja, call him so that he can come and arrest them.” What must we do as a community? Must we take the law into our hands? Please commissioner, have a meeting with your staff.
*ENGELA-Okalongo road should really be a tarred road. We are happy that there are taxis to help passengers, but the road is not perfect and taxi drivers are charging customers unfairly. Please councillors of those constituencies, react in this matter.
*OTAMANZI constituency council, when will you bring water to Onkani west? You only look after Etilyasa but other parts of the constituency are forgotten.

*I, Martha Shivute lost my handbag with my ID and bank card on December 13 in Walvis Bay. If found please contact 0813791433.
*I’M Thihemo Joseph from Windhoek. I found the ID of Kangwaka Dinyeno. Contact 0818456338.

Response to Previous SMSes
*Inspector General Sebastian Ndeitunga, the December 2010 intakes are awaiting their salaries to be adjusted to the pay of full constable plus our back pay. Our families are starving and rent and electricity is killing us.
The author made it sound as if all 2010 cadets haven’t received their full constable salaries. The truth is that all cadets are appointed as cadet constables for a probationary period of 12 calender months upon which Pol 202 (performance appraisal form) is handed in by your commander for your permanent appointment to see if you are fit for permanent appointment, and or for request for extension of probation, and or termination of service. I don’t want to guess in which category the author is, but my advice to the constable is for him/her to contact the immediate commander and enquire about his or her probationary status. This might be an isolated case as most of the 2010 intakes have been appointed permanently.
*The government must look at the poor constables and sergeants in the Namibian Police. Why are those members not allowed to bring their families to the barracks? Senior members too, why?
We have two types of accommodation facilities in the Namibian Police Force.
1. Single quarter barracks for single police officers. You are not allowed to live with someone else, similarly you are not even allowed to bring in your furniture without permission. It does not matter whether you are senior or junior.
2. The second type of accommodation is the married quarter barracks for married couples. There you can live with your family.
