Reshuffle
*NAHAS Angula, please take us out of the mess at the Ministry of Defence where all generals have three vehicles each yet they tell their subordinates that vehicles are not enough. How can they be enough if one general has a double cab/Land Cruiser, a sedan and his scheme car which is also GRN property. These generals hardly drive their scheme cars and that is why most of their own cars are parked at work stations.
*THE appointment of Nahas Angula is aimed at reducing corruption in Defence. Defence, Police and Prison are not fair as far as promotions, transfers and scholarships are concerned. We know how a junior officer was promoted to be second in command at a prison, contrary to the public service act. Nahas, clean up.
*MANY uninformed people have misgivings about Nahas Angula who now calls himself Katyusha. People think that he has little insight about military affairs. When meeting the South African generals at Ruacana he sternly asked them to confirm whether they (generals) will honour the ceasefire as signed in New York or if they will continue with war. The generals promised that they’ll stop the war immediately. Mount Etjo talks were facilitated and UN Resolution 435 implemented. Hence, as a soldier, he will implement programmes already in place and create new ones.
*IMMANUEL Ngatjizeko is the new Minister of men and women in uniform? President Pohamba, that was a serious mistake. This ministry needs a vibrant person who can be a voice to the voiceless. Police officers are not allowed to strike or protest and don’t have a union to represent them. An old man like him would not be expected to look into and understand the plight of police officers. Yet they ensure peace and safety is maintained.
Food for Thought
*I READ in The Namibian on Friday that City Police are impounding cars from the citizens if you owe them. How legal is it? Would The Namibian check that out with legal experts because I bought a car from someone else and have not yet changed it to my name and this could happen to me.
*DATE for teachers’ court case is January 17. Date for civil servants increase?
*WHEN will towns learn that open markets don’t boost the economy? They limit traders with too many regulations. We don’t need tidy towns, we need vibrant ones.
*HOW do these warrants for arrest for traffic violations work? I know that traffic fines get mailed to the postal address registered with the vehicle. However, an owner of a vehicle may be perfectly oblivious of any fine if s/he didn’t receive the mailed fine. Cars are not necessarily always driven by the registered owner. What happens in such an event? Can the authorities please furnish an answer for our peace of mind?
Bouquets and Brickbats
*Cartoonist Dudley... whoa! You designed this year’s poster in Friday’s paper. I will just have to enlarge it!
*ORANGE River Lodge is dilapidated. NTB should revoke their trading license for good. Tourists rooms are infested by mosquitoes and the facilities are dirty and dilapidated overall.
*POLYTECHNIC is promoting cultivation of alien Moringa trees. Why not native ones? Crossing and invasion could occur. Academics should know better! MET where are you? Namibians say no to the destruction of our environment!
*THE Trustco-Shoprite Life cover is a big lie! Within three days I went down from N$19 000 to N$3 000.
*PAPARAZZI, groupie alert! It’s very obvious; Robbie Savage is smitten with Johanna Benson.
*DEAR Paparazzi (The Namibian of December 7). Robbie is not a drunken mascot. He is a severely intellectually challenged sports fanatic with a heart of gold. I have personally spotted him watching our soccer practise back in the late 70s, not being able to participate because of his condition. He is surely not someone to be made fun of! It might be that Johanna Benson is an inspiration to him.
*CONGRATULATIONS Mike Hamukwaya, coach of Namibia Paralympics, for everything you do for athletes. Keep it up!
*VIVA station commander! You brought a lot of changes, with fewer resources and less manpower. You are a star for those of us who want to root out crime. Community policing is about to kick off. Let the criminals bark. Viva Karasburg police.
*SO glad The Warehouse Theatre is back! Playhouse management were a tad too hoity-toity for locals.
*ELIJAH Ngurare, did you see that you cut yourself from the branch of a tree you climbed on. The nation has now opened their eyes. They have spoken clearly.
*MINI bus drivers, please be very smart. Your clothes are very dirty.
*BASED on last Friday’s editorial and the Swapo Congress results we Namibians are democratically far more advanced than Botswana, whose incumbents since Seretse Khama consistently picked/anointed their succesors? Yet that country is hailed as an African beacon of democracy, stability and prosperity.
Service Please
*BANK Windhoek Kudu Branch, please improve your teller service. It’s very poor.
*SHOULD you want to experience very poor telephone service just phone 065-208000. Letshego head office, please make a plan!
*THE City of Windhoek is making our lives miserable because they have allowed the shebeens next to the women’s centre in Okuryangava. These shebeens play their music as loud as their system allows. Please municipality, tell your people to have sound proof walls. They are damaging the ears of our children. Please help us.
*DEAR NBC, we have a problem. We can’t see Namibian soccer in the far south.
*STANDARD Bank must improve its customer service to the public. Since I applied for cellphone notifications, nothing happened.
*CITY of Windhoek, please do something about the horrible smell coming from the riverbed between Cosmos High School and Hans Dietrich Genscher Street. There is constant rotten waste water running and we do not know where it is coming from. Please send your people to clean up the riverbed. After all, it’s your responsibility.
*STANDARD Bank, while I finished paying my home loan account in September 2011 I’m still fighting for my refund of the money you kept deducting from me. Every time I call I am just lied to. Tell your people to give themselves time to send my receipt back. I am tired now. Bring my money back.
*THE refuse bins in Bonn Street in Otjomuise haven’t been removed and cleaned for six months now. What are we paying for? To live in that mess? Come on City of Windhoek. You are driving in reverse gear now.
*SAA, you really need to improve your service. Stop making empty promises and just refund my money.
*CITY of Windhoek, I have a serious question. Are your buses that transport passengers to Cimbebasia, Kleine Kuppe and Olympia only for Katutura passengers or what? People who live in town also need to use the service. It’s a serious problem. Help us!
Suggestion Box
*CAR guards of Maerua Mall, just register yourself at the municipality then you don’t have to pay N$20 a day for a uniform!
Labour
*AS a civil servant, I will not vote in any election until I get a decent job with decent pay and good benefits.
– Abused civil servant
*THE problem with government is that they fail to communicate with us civil servants with regards to this salary increment issue. When are we getting our backdated cheques or must we strike again before something is done?
*SAARA Kuugongelwa Amadhila, when are you bringing the public servants’ increment? We want our money before Christmas please! We are hungry.
*WHAT happened to the issue of the deduction for teachers who went on strike – being in the President’s hands? We (teachers) received letters stating that the deduction will start in January. Well, start with the deduction and we will start striking all over again. There aren’t enough teachers in Namibia. I wonder what will happen if all teachers go on strike. You are not serious!
*I’M starting to wonder if the government and unions really reached an agreement or was it just a show to get the teachers back to work and silence the rest of the public servants. Why are our back pay cheques and increments taking so long?
Politics
*I WAS in the Jerry Ekandjo camp but I am very disappointed and worried about the manner in which the SPYL conducted itself. They lost the votes for us. Manipulative and arrogant tactics have no place here. Maybe he should be sent back to the ANCYL where such behaviour is acceptable. Thank you, but no thank you...
*THE person who thinks that Swapo is finally without Sam Nujoma is fooling him or herself. Nujoma is Swapo and vice versa until God says it’s enough. Hage Geingob is not going to work in isolation. He will still be surrounded by his comrades who voted for him. Leave Nujoma alone. You are not getting anything by disrespecting him, others tried but failed.
*I MADE a painstaking assessment and observation on Job Amupanda and arrived at a point where I want to advise him to undergo political surgery to master the art of intellectual reasoning. Don’t brag about little knowledge but acquire wisdom by respecting elders. Political recklessness and negligence has caused disunity, division and human lives in societies.
*SWAPO is an example. Let the opposition parties do the same. Change your leadership please.
*I WAS a delegate at the Swapo congress and was not supporting Hage Geingob but I must admit that his young team led by Armas Amukwiyu, Desmond Amunyela, Sacky Shanghala, Margaret Mensah Williams, and John Walenga etc were most impressive. They were cordial, respectful and confident, they sold their candidate by articulating issues only. Swapo is maturing.

Response to Previous SMSes
*AN answer to the lady who asked what would happen to her as a woman if she kills a man who ate her money for a long time and just dropped her like a hot potato? Why allow someone else to eat your money? Were you buying love? That’s why they say love is not for sale and has never been for sale. If ever you spend money on someone and they decide to leave, tough luck. Just cut the habit and never ever attempt to do that again.
*I WILL advise the complainant concerning Ferdinand Mulale of NBC to please watch even the international news channels. I don’t see anything wrong with the way he’s presenting news. I think he’s smart.
*I SAW the SMS calling on radio presenters to be knowledgeable in what they say on air and I agree, the majority of them have no idea what they are on about, but there are a few who are well informed and give entertainment worth listening to, like Jarret Loubser from Radio Wave, Tafanji Nyirenda from Energy, Cheese Matsoarelle from Fresh and Crucially Crucial from Base FM, among others.
*HOW can that SMS sender equate Swapo central committee to the Holy Bible?
*TO the woman asking what will happen to her if she kills a man who ate her money what does she think happens to men who kill women? They are sent to jail of course. Justice is for all, male or female. You will be convicted!

In and From the Regions
*THE CEO of the Luderitz Waterfront Development Committee must come up with better excuses why nothing has been done so far! Or are he and his witbroodtjies hiding something? Smelling a rotten fish?
*I’M so disappointed with the way Rundu Town Council do their business. How is water cut off without giving the residence any warning. That constitutes very poor service delivery and yet we are paying for this type of service. It is not rocket science to warn your residents beforehand.
*IT is Sunday, shopping at P&P Game Centre Oshakati. The place is unbelievably dirty with lots of rubbish in the passages. The place looks really disgusting.
*ONDANGWA town and nearby towns always experience power failures during the rainy season. Nored, please improve your service. This problem has existed for many years with no improvement.
*WHY is it that when one sees the clouds gather, sees the lightning in the distance and hears the thunder, then our electricity in the Kavango just goes off, at times for up to even an hour? Why?
