SMSes for Thursday 06 December 2012

SMS Of The Day *THE new research regulations are unconstitutional. Numerous highly educated lawyers and activists have already warned government of this fact. Yet, once again, unlawful legislation will be passed. My question is: has the time not come that we hold these decision makers liable in their personal capacities for breach of fiduciary duties. Then, and only then, will they start to become responsible leaders. Now they are not.

Reshuffle
*RICHARD Kamwi should have been reshuffled too. Our health system is in question.

*CONGRATULATIONS! Prime Minister Hage Geingob. Now at least we can expect the eight percent increment for civil servants before Christmas 2012.

*THANK you President Hifikepunye Pohamba for giving tate Jerry Ekandjo to the youth! Now they can play Tom and Jerry with him!

*I’M so happy with what the President has done. Elijah Ngurare got a taste of his own medicine. Dreams really do come true. Jerry Ekandjo is all yours now. My question is: How can a cranky old man solve the problems the youth are currently facing.

*THANK you President Hifikepunye Pohamba, for the recent Cabinet reshuffle. You did the right thing and no one will ever forget this. You have rescued most Ministries and offices from total collapse.

*THANK God Charles Namoloh is not minister of Defence anymore. We suffered enough.

*PLEASE President Hifikepunye Pohamba, bring Jerry Ekandjo back to Ministry of Local Government to finalise the housing programme in Otjomuise.

*NAHAS Angula, welcome to the Ministry of Defence. I hope you will start tackling the soldier’s poor living conditions which others turned a blind eye to since 1990.
n THANKS President Hifikepunye Pohamba for making Jerry Ekandjo Minister of Youth. I would like to see what the SPYL Secretary General will get, apart from taking away Mandela Kapere! SPYL your wish is guaranteed, we want changes that  KK never did! Viva Pohamba Viva!

*KAZENAMBO Kazenambo, you are our hero no matter what.

*I WANT to know on what grounds President Hifikepunye Pohamba reshuffled ministers. How on earth did he appoint Jerry Ekandjo as Minister of Youth? Why did he not give him a better position? Also, why can’t he give Petrus Iilonga a ministerial position instead of a deputy every time? He is even doing better than some ministers. Please Pohamba, let’s have unity in Swapo and not fight one another.

Action Please
*I AM shocked to read that the Ministry of Home Affairs is transferring immigration officers at border posts. It’s a disappointment. The ministry cannot even supply uniforms to the officers. Passport books are finished. Since Independence the ministry never experienced a shortage of passport books. Why now? The Minister and the PS must leave the officers alone and concentrate on their uniforms, salary adjustments, overtime, passport books, IDs and other services in the ministry.

*WHY must I pay N$18 to be dropped in Omatando Street in Ongwediva? While I’ve been paying only N$9 for the past year. Authorities, please give the correct prices.

Food for Thought
*THAT’S what we will get if we put money before everything. Cheap materials are used to build to maximise profit so that people can drive Range Rovers.

*WE have women who use the media to say; “I want a man. He must have a house and a car. Are we not buying love in this country? The result is passion killing and baby dumping. Stop it please.

*TWENTY-FIVE thousand km of gravel roads, which they must re-gravel every 15 years. Now some roads are now 30 to 40 years old without being regraveled. Why? Roads Authority, think twice!

Education
*ABRAHAM Iyambo, well done! Those VTC trainees really need some protection and all VTCs need some more professionalism to run their affairs.

*STUDENTS and our parents are worried about what Monitronics Success College does to us. Some hours before exams the college informed us verbally that some students were wrongly registered and some tool kits were not paid for and some students will not sit for final year exams. That’s not fair at all. Please investigate this matter or give us advice on it.

*TEACHERS are struggling to make copies for reports, to the extent that we need to pay for them with our own money, including taxi fare. And yet the government is talking of eight percent while learners and schools benefit from our salaries. Not fair at all!

*IUM finance officers and vice chancellor please come on board and explain to the students how you deducted your money from our GRN loans. How can someone get N$8 000 and others N$6 000, as a refund, out of N$26 000? Where is all the money now? We need our money please.

Bouquets and Brickbats
*ELIJAH Ngurare, do you still remember how you were singing during your campaign for Jerry Ekandjo? Who were you directing your songs at? Shame on you! I advise you to take care of your mouth.

*THE Herero dress designer’s competition held at the Windhoek Country Club was a disaster. From the food to the ladies that were modelling. Edwin Tjiramba, bring our N$450 back.

*AIR Namibia, your airfares between Windhoek and Cape Town are much too high and out of proportion. It seems that you are in cahoots with SA Express. We need competition on that route.

*MTC please get your cell phone reception in order in the northern regions!

*SHOULD MTC play Father Christmas by putting up Christmas lights for the city? Exhibiting its huge wealth with Christmas lights opposite Maerua Mall, instead of giving it to cell phone clients?

*OK, so imagine this: An artist becomes chairperson of a scientific association then proceeds to reject a scientist’s presentation because it is ‘artistically dubious’. Swakopmund Arts Association, you have become the laughing stock of the arts in Namibia.

*IT is not rocket science why our tourism industry has reported a low influx of tourists. Have you seen the officials at our border posts? You will be lucky if they make eye contact let alone smile or greet you. And what we all say is, “this is Africa”.

*MINISTER of Justice talk to your staff. They are destroying the image of Justice. They don’t know how to assist the public and the worst is that they are very rude towards their colleagues. They don’t do their jobs. They don’t want to help us regarding our medical aid and progress report forms. How can an HR officer tell you to put down the phone while you call them for assistance?

*THE Namibian government revealed its weakness. How can the Ministry of Finance fail to pay the back dated amount to civil servants? While the public lose millions every day. Please give our money before Christmas.

*THE height of opportunism, disguised as ‘Still telling it like it is’. Shame on The Namibian. Sies, before the Swapo congress started, you openly portrayed Hage Geingob in poor taste by implying that he used state property – the jet, for his campaign without paying for it. And now that he is our most likely the next Head of State, your front page highlights in red ‘Geingob did pay for jet’. Opportunists that’s what you are! While I know you won’t place my SMS, I am happy you read it!
– August Maletzky
Where is the contradiction? Fact: Geingob’s team used the state plane under the guise of undertaking ministerial duties. Fact: They paid only after we had exposed this information. If the opportunism accusation can stick, it is that we latch onto any story no matter who it affects as long as it is in the interest of Namibia. We continue to tell it as it is!
– Ed.

Service Please
*UNAM give us our refunds. I applied a month ago and since November 13 only N$15 appears on my portal. Where is the rest of my money? I need my refund now! We are not happy with the slow processing of our refunds.

*THE CEO of the City of Windhoek, did you know, this was the second weekend that street lights in Otjomuise 3 were off? We can’t see anything. Look into it.

*I’M just wondering why IUM doesn’t want to give us our refunds. Is there any problem? Give us our money or do you want to chop our money?

*SME Bank is not here for us. It’s no different from the other banks. They are checking your credit. You must first settle the other accounts before they look at your application form. If the SME Bank is here for us they must get us out of the black list. We want money to make money and pay our bills and pay school fees for our children and pay our home loans and buy food to eat. You are increasing our stress if you reject our applications.

*I DID my secretary and office administration qualification at IUM in Ongwediva in 2010. Up to now I did not get my certificate. I paid everything on time.

Suggestion Box
*I THINK there is a way to reduce these warrants of arrest. Can those who make these laws not introduce something so that we can pay our traffic fines in installments?

* HAGE Geingob, please don’t forget to remove the ban on used vehicles. We need you to listen to us.

*NBC! We would like to see Kazenambo Kazenambo on ‘One on One’ before this year ends. Please!

*I WANT northern stream first division football league to be divided into two streams. These poor teams travel through eight regions.

*OPPOSITION parties must work hard to prepare themselves and their members for the 2014 elections otherwise Namibia will become a one party state.

Labour
*MINISTRY of Labour and Namibia Statistics Agency, during the Namibia Labour Force Survey 2012 we signed contracts for 28 days. From October 4 to 31 including working over weekends, and we were not entitled to claim overtime. We only received a salary for 20 days (excluding weekends). Twenty percent was retained and is payable after not less than six months (in case of debts that may arise). Pay our eight days salary and our 20 percent retention.

*TJAMA Tjivikua and Gert Günzel, how much longer are you going to suck blood from lecturers by paying them slave wages? How do you pay one person N$160 000 per month whilst paying lecturers around N$20 000. Insane! Namibia, what is going on?

*MINISTRY of Home Affairs, even animals have rights. You do not own us. We are government employees governed by laws, so follow and obey those laws. Whoever came up with this idea? People are not against the transfer but do it fairly and give enough time so people can prepare themselves. They are not going for holiday.

*MINISTER Saara Kuugongelwa Amadhila, you mean civil servants just receive eight percent next year? For what? We want an answer before December 15.

*CHIEF of Immigration at Ariamsvlei, why are you giving government accommodation to a person that is not working for Immigration or in the government? If you are so generous, offer all empty flats to homeless people around here.

*LET the government pay civil servants 25 percent of their government pension funds to settle their accounts at loan sharks Nedloans, Letshego and cash loans to clean their payslips. They cannot even qualify to buy a house or a car at the bank. Government, think of that and please heed the plight of civil servants. They are really in need! Remember, a shelter is a human right denied to civil servants by the same people they entrusted with their well being as well as their welfare.

*Can government, Nantu and Napwu please give us an indication of when we will receive our back pay? Why the empty promises? Do you want us to go on strike?

Politics
*HAGE Geingob, I have run out of congratulatory words. All I can say is: God has plans for you. He knows that you have the leadership qualities and you deserve a place at the helm of the government.
n THE only way left for Elijah Ngurare to enter Parliament is to join the APP. Think twice.

*I’M not sure whether the re-elected president of the USA would read this message but if he does I would like to know why he supports the arrogant behaviour of the Israeli government which continues to make the lives of Palestinians so difficult?

*NO more Swapo driven by Sam Nujoma.

*WE are still waiting for other parties to challenge themselves like Swapo did?

*CAN Elijah Ngurare explain the term “intellectual stupidity” in the upper echelons of the SPYL hierarchy?

Response to Previous SMSes
*REFERRING to baby dumping: To all women, you have the right to say no. All men must respect a woman’s choice. Women are not sex objects. A good woman/wife/mother is more valuable than any riches of this world. Men, be responsible.

*I AM not happy with an SMS dated December 4; I am always sensitive to statements like the ‘vacancy’ for the next First Lady. That’s an insult to our leader and invasion into the privacy of someone. Leave our future President. He can rule Namibia without a First Lady. Moreover, Swapo Central Committee is like a Holy Bible to me, don’t tamper with it please.

Lost and Found
*MY brand new Dell laptop and two memory sticks (blue and dark green) were stolen from my office. If someone wants to sell it to you, please contact 081-124 3215.

*I, AUGUST Gariseb lost my wallet in Windhoek with my pension card, voters card and drivers licence. If found, call or SMS 081-248 2729 or 081-809 8651.

In and From the Region
*THE Investigation Unit of Nampol Karasburg can’t investigate cases properly but they are quick to spend labour and energy on dagga cases. How many times has Pep stores been broken into and no one was arrested. People are killing each other in bars and shebeens but the police do nothing.

*WHAT happened to the Luderitz Waterfront phase two? Every year the CEO promises, through the media, that phase two will commence.

*THE gravel road between Dordabis and Gochas is bad. From Gobabis to Onderombapa to Aminuis, Maltahohe to Swakopmund, Leonardville to Dordabis, to mention just a few. Nearly all the gravel roads in Namibia are in very bad condition with old graders too. Roads Authority, wake up.
